Just a heads up Dragon Age 2 PC is listed at $49.95.

For those who pre-ordered before the deadline for the Signature Edition at $59.xx, get your price adjusted.

The signature edition was suppose to be a free upgrade.
How do I get my price adjusted???!
Just contact customer service. The game should fall under the pre-order price guarantee. Signature Edition was suppose to be a free upgrade.

I already fired off an e-mail to Amazon about this. I'm gonna be really annoyed if they don't adjust the price of my Signature Edition.

I got turned down in Live Chat since my order shows the Signature Edition, not the standard version. I even said it was a free upgrade, but was still refused. I sent an email afterwards. Hopefully I'll get the discount this time.

Holy crap ... I had to spend 20 minutes on the phone and talk to a supervisor (after 1st trying Live Chat and getting rejected) and finally got them to make a "one time exception" and lower the price. They just didn't seem to get the whole "free early preorder incentive" and kept telling me it was 2 different products. I think the thing that changed the supervisors mind was that both editions make mention of preorder bonuses that are currently the same on the non Signature edition and the Signature edition, this in particular -

"Reserve your copy of Dragon Age 2 and receive the in-game Fadeshear Sword and the Lion of Orlais Shield. The sword provides additional damage vs. demons and undead, and the shield provides 2 added rune slots, adds to your health, and improves XP gain. A code to access the bonus content will be e-mailed within two days after your order ships. Existing pre-orders of Bioware Signature Edition will automatically qualify for this offer. Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon.com, while supplies last, and limited to one purchase per customer. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time. "

Not sure why ... but damn, I really had to push for that and not let up

Yeah, Amazon is annoying me with this crap lately. They did this with Black Ops too - they simply created a new listing and changed the pre-order bonus.

It used to be I just "set it and forget it" by pre-ordering from them many months ahead.. now they've got me waiting until release week looking for the best deal.

Well I already got an e-mail response from Amazon and they fixed the price no problem for me. I have to wait to get that extra $10 back that they took off (since I paid entirely with Amazon credit she said they refund it when the game ships), but I'll still get it at the $49.95 price (actually my order details shows $39.95, but that's because I had a $10 promo I used on the game so I get it for even cheaper).

I guess it just depends on who you get. I lucked out and got someone who did it without a hassle. ;)

This was one of the rare times I was happy about having such a huge backlog. This way I can wait a year or so before the ultimate edition comes out w/ all the DLC etc. I spent more money on the expansions/DLC than the original DA:O games =) (But it was still worth it)

Looks like there's still hope. What did you say to convince them? I couldn't even win over the rep through Live Chat.

I didn't bother with the Live Chat myself (using the Contact Us I chose the e-mail option instead). Under the Select Issue portion I clicked on Payment Issues > Price Changed On Website. After that I just basically stated that I had pre-ordered the Signature Edition of Dragon Age II earlier in the month and that the regular edition just dropped to $49.95 instead of $59.95. I also made sure to point out that the Signature Edition was a free upgrade from the original so it should be the same price.

I probably didn't do anything different than you did, I just happened to get a customer service rep who understood what I was saying and fixed my problem. I would try again, but instead of Live Chat maybe try the e-mail option instead? I don't know what else to say. I've had issues in the past where one customer service rep refused to price adjust something they were supposed to, but after contacting them again a different one did fix it. Just keep trying until you get someone who will handle it for you.

My email:
I noticed that this product is now $49.99 so I would like to get the price adjusted.

Please note that the signature edition was a "free upgrade" for pre-ordering before a certain date, so it should not be considered a separate product (As it was not possible to order anything else before that date).

Their response:
I've reviewed your order and see that your items haven't shipped yet.

Under the circumstances, I'll make a one-time exception for you and will reduce the price of the item to the currently-listed price of $49.99. This is what you will be charged for the item when your order ships.

I hope this helps. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Just emailed amazon with your "template" thrustbucket. Seems well worded and obviously works. Thanks! (and also thanks TC for pointing this out)

I shot a well-written email off, as well. Hopefully they are aware of this issue and resolve it for everyone that put in orders before January 11th.

My email was similar to what thrustbucket sent, but I was refused again through email. I'll try again.

Here's the response I got:

Hello,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused to you.

I've checked the video game - "Dragon Age 2 Bioware" on Amazon.com and see that both Standard and Signature Edition are no longer available. This pre-order offer expired on January 11, 2011.

I suggest you to cancel the this order and reserve your copy of the Dragon Age 2 Standard Edition, which releases on March 8, 2011.

To cancel your order, go to the URL below and click the "Need to cancel an item?" button: (url to cancel)

should I get this or console version? I prefer sitting in my living room, but I am not sure how frustrating the controls will be on a console?

Is any of this hassle even necessary? Shouldn't this fall under Amazon's pre-order price guarantee?

Edit: Upon double checking my order, it was already $49.95, maybe I ordered it before the price change.

It should. But given that they've given the Standard version a different listing, they may not price adjust unless you bring it to their attention, as evidenced by the folks having issues in this thread.

BTW, they adjusted my signature edition to the $50 price. Guess it just depends on the CSR you get.

No because they are considering the Signature Edition as an alternative product to Dragon Age 2. As such, the only way anyone will get a lower price on it before launch is for EA to tell Amazon that the SE is back in stock, which will never happen.

Unfortunately this is what happens when publishers start dicking around with timed preorder incentives and you have a company that specializes in more than just games. Normally Amazon is great with this stuff, but I would personally blame EA for not making it clear to retailers what exactly the Signature Edition signifies.

Got the same BS that the signature edition is different. Also wouldn't have this problem if EA didn't charge $60 for the PC version.

This is the exact message I sent them that finally got them to change my order:

On January 11th I preordered the PC version of Dragon Age 2 for $59.95.
Yesterday, January 18th, I see that the price for Dragon Age 2 on PC is $49.95.

This is the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Age-2-..._2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1295471180&sr=1-2

I want my price adjusted from $59.95 to $49.95 as is policy.

-If you go to the page link provided above, this is obviously not a third party seller.
-The Bioware Signature edition is a FREE upgrade to the standard edition, these are not two separate products in this case because there was no possible way to order anything else before January 12th.

This is detailed about halfway down the page on the official website, here:
http://dragonage.bioware.com/

The words "free upgrade" are DIRECTLY used.

Here are first hand personal accounts of people who have had this error corrected for them:

Thank you.

I got a $10 promotion applied to my account. Apparently mine was a teensy bit more difficult because I payed for the game with a combination of a $20 Game Credit and gift cards. Since I always buy from Amazon a promotion was an easy solution for me. If you want to solve the situation in one go and have the 15 mins or so have them call you, those CSR's can actually adjust stuff for you and you don't have to wait for back and forth replies in email.

Well I choose the chat option and after a few minutes, he finally decided to give me the price adjustment. At first he said I wouldn't be able to see the price adjustment and he wouldn't be able to adjust it until the game shipped, but I showed him the price policy that it would show up at most in 24 hours and the link to the game with the price $49.99, and he finally adjusted the price. Though I used a gift card to pay for the game in whole and he couldn't put back my $10 back into my gift card balance. My order total comes out to -$9.96

I agree. I'm really hating all these digital pre-order bonuses. Give us a plushie, poster, mini-soundtrack, or some other cheap physical trinket as incentive rather than holding back digital content.

I can understand why Amazon would create a separate product for book keeping, but it's a bit ridiculous that it breaks their pre-order guarantee.

You pretty much have to point out that the Signature Edition is suppose to be a free upgrade. I had mine adjusted through chat. Point them to the official site where it is stated. Then point to their pre-order price guarantee on the normal PC version on Amazon's site.

"Time is running out for the free upgrade to the Dragon Age II Signature Edition

Jan 04, 2011
Time is running out to get your free upgrade to the Dragon Age II Signature Edition. Customers who pre-order Dragon Age II before January 11 will automatically get a free upgrade to the Dragon Age II Signature Edition but you must pre-order before time runs out to take advantage of the offer.
ACT NOW!"

Hope that helps, but Madlaughter pretty much covered it in his email.

Thanks MadLaughter for sharing your message. I emailed the same message and finally got the price adjustment. Finally, some results!

If anyone else plans to use MadLaughter's message, adjust your preorder date accordingly, and make sure the links work before you send your message.

They changed my price but they didn't email me and that is what I kept checking lol. I'd post what I wrote but I expected a reply so I don't have it. It seems like MadLaughter's email works so use that =p
the dumb &(*^i am talking to says its not from amazon its from bioware so they cant price match
You may also want to point out from the product description of the Signature Edition that it was an automatic upgrade from pre -ordering Dragon Age II before January 11, 2011.

As displayed on Amazon's site:

"Pre-order Dragon Age II before January 11, 2011 and receive an automatic upgrade to the BioWare Signature Edition - a special, collector's edition version of the game that contains loads of additional content, exclusives, and other perks. This special edition version of Dragon Age II is only available for pre-order before January 11, so pre-order now.

This sucks for people who are having problems, the Signature edition was supposed to be a free upgrade. I pre-ordered back when the Signature Edition was first announced on Amazon for 49.99, so everyone should be able to get a price adjustment. Good luck to all, Amazon usually rocks so here's hoping

I was able to get one of the CS agents on live chat to change the price of my order to $49.95. Took a few minutes, I just copied the description from amazon's site statingthe signature edition was a free upgrade to the standard edition if the preorder was placed before january 11.

Hahah, thrustbucket. That's funny.

And yeah, they kept trying to tell me that it was a 3rd party offering the lower price, too. I had to direct link them to the DA2 PC page because I think they kept looking at the Signature Edition page because that was the item I had put a checkmark next to on the 'Contact Us" form.

You need to make sure to link them to the Standard Dragon Age 2 PC page and not the expired Signature Edition page.

I got an email similar to what someone else got stating that the final price would reflect it when the game shipped, so I sent another email back with the part about the price being updated within 24 hours. Hopefully this will be the end of it.

Edit: Just got an email with the price adjustment, thx again Op!
