YMMV: Zelda: OoT available at Target

I was at my local target and OoT was in the 3ds section. Normally, I try to get them to sell me street dated items and get rejected by the computer but for some reason it worked today. I'll post pics of the game and the receipt when I get home. Happy Hunting!

Yup, I've heard lots of success about this today... unfortunately, my experience wasn't so great. Also, you might get some hate, since this isn't really a "deal." But it doesn't bug me.

Copy and pasted from another forum:

Went to the Blue Springs, MO Target, and there was the $39.99 sticker, and then one box, hard to see, behind the locked case. I could only see a sliver of said box, but I definitely saw a Zelda dungeon!

I immediately asked an employee if they could "grab a game for me." Employee walks over, I point at Zelda casually, and he asks is there one behind in the case. I tell him yes. And he immediately pulls it out and tells me he can't sell it. He said they were selling them this morning, but he got an email a couple hours ago, and so he can't sell it now.

:whistle2:( I was upset because I was. so. close. But it's not his fault.

I immediately drove to the Independence, MO store. They had the sticker, but no boxes. I figured I they must have pulled them. And so I left empty handed.

Good luck to everyone else! Wish I could have gotten lucky. Try to ask a "dumb" employee.

He was just doing his job yo, he could potentially get in trouble if he ignored the email, doesn't make him dumb really.

Well he acknowledged that - at least he isn't one of those obnoxious goons that throws a 3 year old's tantrum throwing Wheat Thins at the cashier when that happens and brags on CAG about how big and manly he is....:roll:

I think you misread my post.

I said I recognized he was doing his job. I was upset I didn't get it, sure. But I'm not gonna make a scene. It's a remade video game that I can get in a few days, anyway.

And, I didn't say he was dumb. This particular employee was "smart" as he was doing his job and following guidelines. I'm recommending to others to find the opposite of that - a "dumb" employee that doesn't follow orders. ;)

Wonder if the store near me that put inFamous 2 out early would have this too... Still want to wait on my copy from amazon though.
 
Seems like Target has been pretty bad lately with accidentally putting things out before they are released. Going to have to check my store tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.
 
Hm... this is seriously tempting me to drive to my local Target. Though I live on the west coast, and the only location listed so far is in MO. Don't know if it's worth it.

Scored one in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Was about to post something like this earlier today, I was just shocked it was out on the floor, and moreso that the transaction went through without any issue.

Now I just have to resist the urge to register the game too early for the soundtrack, as the offer pretty clearly states that it starts on the 19th.
 
No luck for me. The guy was knowledgeable and knew about it already. Too bad, the only way I'd buy a game for full price at Target would be if I could get it a bit early.
 
I checked my target and i saw spots with the tag for the game, but there were no copies of the game there. Oh well.

So where is the deal? Im assuming since this is posted in the deals section there would be one.
 
I was actually in my local Target getting some prescriptions when I read this earlier. I thought it might be my lucky day and I'd actually get it, but nope, nothing there.

well... time is money so getting a game early means that you're saving money some how... right?

I mean as an example if you buy a game for $30 and own it for 30 days post release you've paid $1 per day to use the game.... but if you get the game 5 days early and still only pay $30, then at the end of same 30 days post release (30 days + 5 early purchase days) you've only paid about $0.86 per day.

Here's the "time is money formula"
The formula is: V=(W((100-t)/100))/C, where "V" is the value of an hour, "W" is a person's hourly wage, "t" is the tax rate and "C" is the local cost of living.

Keep in mind that formula was developed for Britains, but it shouldn't be too off for the US.

I bet it has something to do with all the Target's getting remodeled. I don't know if it's nationwide or regional, but the four of the five Targets within 30 minutes of me are all getting remodeled with much larger grocery and frozen food sections.
 
FYI, in case anyone goes out today looking for this, it's dead as far as Target goes. Found them on the shelf at the local store, but when the cashier tried ringing me out, the register denied me Wal-Mart style, do not sell until 6/19 and the guy couldn't over ride it. Oh well, I'm sure there will be better deals on Sunday.
 
I was SO close to getting a copy. I went to Wal Mart and the guy was just stocking it as I walked up. I asked if I could go ahead and purchase it. We walked over to the register, and he tried to scan it. Alas, it was not yet in the database. So he went to the back and sure enough, he found out they couldn't sell it till the 19th. I was sad. I thanked him for his effort and time.

So, the Target in Macon, GA doesn't have it and the Wal Mart on Zebulon rd. in Macon, GA won't sell it. Guess we'll all just have to wait.
 
I pulled this off the shelf at my store this morning. It happened because they had to make a home location for it early, since it comes out in between the weekly revisions.
 
I got turned down when the guy scanned mine at Wal-mart as they had put their copies out as well. Oh well, couple more days.

Im thinking this is it. Both times (For Infamous 2, and this game) i saw it at a remodeling/remodeled Target's. Though, i got turned down both times. (Wasnt really mad though, already paid off my Gamestop copy, just a few more days)
 
The couple Targets I went to, in San Jose CA, had areas ready for display but no games in them.

I don't know whether they kept them in the back or sold them out.
