It depends on if you ordered it directly from Amazon or not.
If it's from Amazon directly, you can only leave packaging feedback, which will ideally get your point across, but I would just call up Amazon customer service anyways to let them know directly about it.

If I'm understanding correctly, and it's late so I may not be, it's the controller package that's smashed, in which case OP should just leave feedback for the item as usual, saying yeah, the controller is fine, but they didn't mention the box was smashed. Packaging feedback is for how the item was packed and shipped, not for the item itself. It's so they don't do stupid things like ship a ruler in a giant box full of styrofoam, which I've seen them do.

If that's the case, it would still have to be from a third party seller, since you can't leave feedback for Amazon, but you can leave packaging feedback, but now that I read her post more, it wouldn't be for packaging feedback like you said. But she may just have to contact Amazon CS to give feedback if it's from Amazon directly.
Otherwise, if it's a third party seller, go ahead and leave the feedback.

IF you bought this from a 3rd party seller, do not leave negative feedback for said seller as they did not crush the package, the shipper did (USPS, etc.).
But do contact the seller with the info, as that knowledge my cause them to switch shippers.
