Well it's Monday and Modern Warfare 3 releases tomorrow. I waited late to put my preorders in so it may be my own fault but I didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket so I placed several preorders through several different retailers hoping at least one would ship and if they all did I'd be able to unload them easily enough.
Here is what I've come across so far:
GoHastings: Order cancelled Monday 11/07. I placed an order for both one xbox and one ps3 on 10/31/11. I called CSR to make sure they had the items and that the descriptions were accurate because they had a picture of the standard edition listed as $99.99. CSR said they were infact that hardened edition and they had plenty in stock. I guess not.
FYE: Order placed on 10/30/11 for a copy for both ps3 and xbox 360. Signed up for the VIP Pass for $1 for the first month. Someone from their review department called me the next day to verify the order (security precautions) and after I provided some basic information he said everything was fine with my order. I guess they didn't have the inventory because two days later I got an e-mail saying that my order was cancelled.
TRU: Still pending
Walmart: Still pending.
Fry's: Ordered one of each on 11/04/11 after my FYE cancellation came through and although I haven't received a cancellation e-mail yet my order status shows: Cancelled.
So I Guess I'm waiting on TRU and Walmart. Walmart is usually pretty good about getting preorders out at least at the shipping facility before release date and TRU I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow (Tuesday) to see if it ships.
With technology the way it is I still don't see why retailers get away with constantly overselling inventory. It's not hard to design a program and input all the inventory you're alloted and make sure it shuts down taking orders after you hit a certain mark.
But I figured I'd start this thread to see if anyone else has similar experiences or lucked out and their orders shipped.
