what functions do you want to do that mimics the abilities of your netbook? I mean you are going from a fully fledge OS to a minimal android OS; for some people, its hard to justify the large cost of the transformer if you were expecting to use it like a laptop. For others, you could easily get away with a lower cost tablet.
As for transformer itself, I think its a fantastic product, just for my needs and requirements for such a device, the price is too high. 500 + 150 for the docking is stupid expensive for being new; I'd almost be inclined to spend a little more for an ultrabook, specially since new ones are suppose to come out very soon and hit the 900 or cheaper price point.
I run with a playbook, nook color and a nook simple touch; along with a pair of laptops and another pair of ipod touches for my mobile needs.
All I will be doing with it is web surfing, basic office stuff(word, powerpoint, excel, pdfs, etc), and multimedia. The problem I have with my netbook now is that it doesn't really have many multimedia options and its so slow. I run linux on my netbook since Windows 7 is so slow but even with linux its still a little to slow for my liking. The only thing I like about my netbook is the 10 hour battery life and small size. The asus transformer seems like it will give me the long battery life and size of netbook as well as options for multimedia.
Ive got the original tansformer and I like it alot. I use it and my laptop alot. def didnt 'replace' my laptop. and not sure if it could really.
Why is that? I have a Desktop that is my main pc and my netbook is just for school when I'm on campus and when Im away from home.
Right now my phone(HTC HD 7) and netbook are the only electronics I carry around with me and I dont really have much multimedia options since Windows Phone have so few apps and I dont want to waste battery life with netflix on my phone.
