National Free Comic Book Day - Saturday May 5

Sgt Barone

CAGiversary!
Today across the country is Free Comic Book Day, where the major makers of comic books print up many extras of certain issues to be given away for free by local comic book stores everywhere. Plus, many comic book stores have great sales and promotions today!

And of course, try and purchase something from your comic store. Although the comics are given to the stores by the manufacturers, the point is to support your local store. :)

More than 2 million comic books will be given away today! So stop by your local area comic book store for some free comics today!

Ah yes! "Christmas in May".

Make sure when you go out and get your swag you at least buy something from the store. It's free to you but it isn't free to the retailers, so let them know you appreciate it by picking up at least a back issue or two, some candy, whatever.

Went with my son and we got 3 comics each. Plus they included a free Avengers comic, a Thor figure, and some hard cover book called Mouse Guard in the bag when we checked out. :)

I bought a comic book while I was there too.

I bought 17 back issues to fill in gaps in my collection. I bought Dial H and Word's Finest. I'm going to go back later. I forgot to take my can donation. You get an extra free comic book per donation.

my stores didnt get the Thor heroclix ; ; if anyone got an extra and wanted to send me one i'd be forever grateful ; ;

my Comic place was giving away avenger comics, captain america, and iron man comics
in celebration of the avenger movie.

and the first 50 customer received any of the avenger mighty mugs for free.

Picked up a ton of free promotion comics at my favorite comic book shop today! I'm looking forward to reading DC's "New 52" FCBD Edition in order to see what sort of future big event they're planning. Also, I picked up DC's "Earth 2 #1" and "Action Comics #9" today :D

Our comic store ran out early my daughter was SUPER bummed they didn't have Mouse Guard. Anyone have an extra or doesn't want theirs PM me.

Sorry I got in here after it was over, but if anyone is in Mpls/St. Paul, Source Comics and Games has the greatest FCBD I've ever been to. They give you a bag with every one of the FCBD books, plus they have refreshments, creators, and 20% off everything in the store. Definitely worth checking out next year if you're in the area.

Every year I road trip for Free Comic Day. I traveled from Broward county to Palm Beach hitting 7 stores. I know the comic book stores pay for these books so I always buy books (with cash) from every place; this year I spent around $40 on back issues and an X-Men one-shot from the new releases wall.

Last year, two of the stores went all out with loud music, people in costume, raffles, and various artists signing autographs. This year they didn't do that (one store didn't even participate in FCBD although they had a "every back issue is $1.00" sale). Best place by far was a store called "Tate's" that let you choose 5 books at one table and gave you 2 extra books when you picked them up at another table.

Free comics I picked up:

The Avengers: Age of Ultron
The New 52! (two copies)
Buffy/The Guild (two copies)
Superman Family Adventures/Green Lantern
Transformers
Zombie Kid
Mouse Guard
The Stuff of Legend/Finding Gossamyr
Sonic the Hedgehog (two copies)
Bongo Free For All / Spongebob (two copies)
Lady Death
Mega Man
Voltron
Graphic Elvis
Burt Ward: Boy Wonder/ Wrath of the Titans
Witchblade
Star Wars/Serenity
Spider-man Season 1
Bad Medicine

Extra books and the ones I read and don't want I give to friends and co-workers although lately I've been thinking of keeping them and giving them away during Halloween.
