EVGA Step-Up program concern

Has anyone here used this program? I only ask because I have a slight concern that I really hope isn't a problem.

My gtx 470 is on its last leg. It's had it fair share of issues. Anyway, I couldn't find any available gtx 680s and didn't think I could wait til nvidia finally released the gtx 670, so I bought a gtx 560ti classified. A pretty decent card, for sure. Anyway, the 560 was $270 and I already had $50 in Amazon credit AND Evga had a $30 rebate for the card.

The other day, I see they've released the 670 and the reviews are pretty stellar. They say with some OCing, the 670 will perform at nearly the 680 level and they both have 2gb vram, but the 670 is $100 cheaper. I sign up for the step up program and, as I type this, I am #4 in line to get a gtx 670.

Evga requires you to give them the invoice from where you purchased the card you're stepping up. According to the program guidelines, they deduct the value of the card you're sending from the new 1 they're sending you and you pay the differ.

My concern is that they're going to see the invoice and try and charge me the additional $50 in credit I used from Amazon to get this new card. I've tried asking Evga support, but it's like they intentionally misunderstand just so the can give me some, pointless generic answer concerning Evga points.

The credit should be seen as a payment method, similar to a gift card. They'll basically look at the price that lists and nothing else. I had a similar situation when I bought card from Fry's, partially paid for by a gift card.
