Child of Eden is fantastic for this price point. I paid the same at a Best Buy B&M one day sale a while ago,

Much fun with the Kinect. Very short game, but for 10 bucks it's a absolute gem.

I think Child of Eden is one of those games you either love or hate. I personally hated it, as did my daughter, who I bought it for in the first place.
We tried it both with Kinect and without, and thought Kinect was a little frustrating at times.
I felt like I did so much better with the controller, but my scores were better with Kinect...go figure.
I would recommend at least giving it a try at this price. It's trading in at $16 at Best Buy right now, so you can give it a try for a couple days and then make a few bucks on it.

Sonic Generations on the other hand, is wonderful. My son absolutely loves that game.
Great price for that one.

I'm a big fan of Rez, so I'm definitely picking up Child of Eden (I've had my eye on it for a while already). But after being disappointed so much by my recent 360 games, I really hope it winds up being not terrible.

Which platform do you guys recommend for Child of Eden?
Xbox 360, no Kinect
PS3 with Move but no 3D

From what I've read, sounds like the 360 version plays better with the controller than Kinect.
Not sure about PS3.

Ps3 given your setup. What i didn't like about even was the lack of scoring and play tutorial. I didn't know I could get combos by shooting to the beat until 3 hours into the game (and that was from looking online). It's a blast drunk on a 110" screen

You should post a video of that if you have one. I'd like to see that.

Really good price on Child of Eden. I traded in the 360 version for $16. Considering getting the PS3 version since I didn't really have the best of luck getting it to be responsive with Kinect. Thanks OP.

Shit, just placed a decent sized order with Newegg and probably would have picked up Biggest Loser for the gf had I seen it. She watches the show day and night on Netflix, and is on a bit of an exercise kick. I'd better double back and snag it.

IMO The Biggest Loser is the best workout game on kinect. I liked it much more than the Yourshape games. Put probably 60 hours into TBL total and it put me through my paces.
I still need to finish my Kinect copy. Has anyone tried it with the Move yet?
I played it with the move and some of the controls weren't that great. I think you have to thrust your hand forward to shoot and that gets pretty bothersome after a while.

Aw come on. It's 8 am and Cild of Eden is already sold out (360)? Have to debate the PS3 version. Don't have Move or Kinect and favor my 360 controller and have a bigger HD.
Got it. Thanks for the tip. My Kinect library was lacking; I've been eyeing this game for a long while.
same, im always up for getting a new kinect game

Shortly after my initial post on just randomly finding Child of Eden for $9.99, I saw that it was reposted over to Slick Deals. With Best Buy and Gamestop both having trade in specials right now, I'm not surprised that these got snatched up.

Plus, Child of Eden is one of the few "core" games for Kinect that actually makes great use of the system.

Thanks OP, in for a PS3 copy since the 360 version appears to be sold out.

it plays different with controller. not better.

the negatives on the controller:
- you get a smaller reticle
- the sensitivity is set really low so it's hard to move fast across the screen and it's harder to move the camera around to see off screen objects

the positives:
- feedback
- every knows how to use a controller
- very easy to switch weapons without losing targeting
- you can play sitting down

the kinect
negatives:
- sometimes the kinect will lose you for a split second and pause the game. you select continue and keep playing. but it breaks momentum sometime
- you switch weapons by switching hands (the main method, there is an alternative method which I don't use) but when you lower one hand and raise the other, you're also dropping the reticle as your hand drops which means you can sometimes get in trouble with taking the reticle off the target
- you can play sitting down but it messes up sometimes and you have to sit on the edge of the chair rather than sink into a sofa

positives:
- reticle is bigger
- very easy to move fast around the screen and it's just a matter of moving your hand faster.
- very responsive control. you swing your hand across the screen and stop on a dime.
- up to 4 controller force feedback. I use a pair of controllers in cargo shorts when I play the game. pretty amazing

I love playing the Kinect way as it's more immersive and more fun. Having your lower body vibrate is a good thing. And I like having the better control. The only thing I really think of negatively about the Kinect version is the occasional pausing of the game.

everyone, please send price match requests to Amazon. Newegg shipping is terribly expensive for some of us (non-continental us).

Paid $20 for Child of Eden in December, no regrets, at $10 it is an easy decision to me.

Thanks Bosamba! Brushed COE off when I saw it on clearance, at Target, a while back! Can't imagine how this is going to look in 3D!:D

Now, if Sonic would get matched on Amazon...

I have the 360 version and played with controller and Kinect, controller's better. Just ordered a PS3 copy to play with Move and will let you know how it goes in a couple of days.

Here's a pretty detail comparison.

Got child of eden for PS3. I don't have a move controller but if it's really frustrating, then I can always borrow the one my brother owns (but never uses).
