Man this stinks!
After a couple of years of great deals at the local Goodwill, they have a new person in charge of pricing the electronics. In the past, NES games have been 99 cents, consoles like the NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, N64 have been $2.99. I had bought a Genesis 2/ Sega CD combo for $2.99 and Snatcher for $2.99.
I went in today to check out what they had. I saw a Saturn console and figured I could use a spare one. It even had a tag on it that said the manual was included and would be brought out from the back. There were no cables included and their "new" rock bottom price is $49.99! Holy crap, this is going to be one long summer if the same person prices all the gaming stuff.
I opened the lid and there is a Fighting Vipers disc sitting inside the console so I may go back tomorrow and see if they will sell just that.
It just makes me sad that the great prices may be gone, at least for a while.

At least your goodwill has video game stuff, when I go to mine, it feels like stepping in the closet of a guy in the 80's just realizing that disco is dead.

I've went to one where the pricing was outrageous.

They had a model 2 genesis w/ no cables or controller for $24.99. Which was crap since there was a store down the street selling them used w/ cable & 2 controllers for $19.99

I'll never understand why they sell them without the equipment you need to play.

They sell them without the equipment you need to play because they often don't know any better. I feel the same way as Scorch...it's like going back to the late 70's, except dirtier, and fewer drugs.

They also seem to have an endless supply of Big Mouth Billy Bass, that stupid fish that sings "Rescue Me" everytime you walk by it. Man, there are a lot of people out there who got this thing as a crappy gift and unloaded it here.
maybe u can keep the game in the console and get a "free" game w/ur console.... :applause:
I was thinking you could just take the disc out... I mean, it's not like they know it's there... no one will miss it

I can tell you as a former Goodwill employee that indeed most of the time the folks who do the pricing in the back have no freakin clue as to the value of items. Sometimes you can get great deals, and other times its sucky. Best deal I got during my time with Goodwill was a near new 5 disc Panasonic DVD player for $15.

YMMV indeed at Goodwill - or any thrift store for that matter. The one I used to work at is still hit and miss with stuff. A lot more MISS than hit in fact. Hell I saw a used copy of "Princess Bride" on DVD for $13.99 the last time I was there....

(Gee the same week CC had it on sale new for $7.99.... and the copy I saw was the non special edition which is pretty worthless)

:dunce: The Goodwills in my area are horrible. Their prices are high on just about everything other than clothes, it's ridiculous. When they get random PS1 games in they almost always mark them $9.99 or higher.

I saw a bunch of brand new Eyetoy Groove games over there at $10 each.

Usually, I can get lucky and find some other cheap decent games. It doesn't happen too much though.

When people complain that their Goodwill has no videogame stuff, I figure its because they don't go often.

I see stuff and it is usually sold before the next day.

Yesterday I ducked into a Goodwill and saw an SNES system . . . hookups and controllers (no games). It wasn't priced and I didn't have a minute to spare . . . went back today.

Gone . . .
