Eat Lead: Return of Matt Hazard - $10 for PS3 at Newegg

Xbox version is also $9.99. Had this one on my clearance bin radar for a long time. Only interested in it because of the paired XBLA game which I also haven't picked up because it hasn't gone on sale yet.

It's a game where the main character knows he is a video game. So it is a parody and it has some humorous spots.

Pairing this with DMC HD... Maybe... Still trying to save my wallet! Lol

I just spent $20 on MS points for the back to school sale.

I think this one of the few games I've ever owned that i just stopped playing and got rid of.

The whole game is a parody of the genre, and has its own made up history as a well established game series (that doesn't exist). The main character is fully aware he's a video game character, making it really unique in a lot of ways. Its mechanics are far from good, but the premise makes it worth checking out at this price I think. Here's the trailer:

I think Gametrailers review gives a good overview:

It's not good. Few shooters are bad enough to bore me into quitting. This is definitely one of them.

The game has some great voice talent utterly wasted on mediocre writing. Pro tip: Referencing "HEY GUYS LOOK IM IN A VIDEO GAME AND I KNOW IT" is not a substitute for actual humor.

I'd agree with that. The writing and game mechanics are really bad. I couldn't finish.
yes but it doesnt have Nuketown 24/7 so most people hate it
What about shipment?

It was my favorite budget game, I think about it quite a bit. The humor was perfect for a game like this without being raunchy. A must-buy at $5, but $10 is a bit high for such an old game now.

It also has the overall best group of achievements I've ever seen in a game.

Bedlam Basher - Kill a Bandit from behind with a melee attack. "Good for you. Coward."

I wouldn't bother with the XBLA game at any sale price. I got it for free and felt like the act of playing it wasn't worth the time spent.

I agree. I absolutely hated this game. Completion percentage be damned I had to trade this one in!

It was a fun play through. Couple times it felt rough around the edges, but still worth finishing. Just make sure there is no stick up your ass and don't expect a AAA GOTY and you'll have fun.

$5 buy.

$10 pass.

I own it and it was good to a point but it was a pain to play. The mechanics just werent there. As others have said, its boring. The funny parts just dont carry it for the lull in actual entertainment.

i actually liked the game, the many video game references and different play styles kept me entertained for the whole game.

I would rank it above Duke Nukem Forever, but not much higher than that.

I for one finished the game and kept it and have played it here and there for a good laugh, actually plat'd it as well.

for $5-10 i would definitely recommend it

I thought the game was very funny. Being an older gamer I understood all the references. It wasn't a GREAT game by any means but it was worth the $10 or so that I paid.

bought this a LONG time ago due to the different parodies that I saw in gameplay videos. played it for about half hour and never touched it again. i still have it, maybe one day i'll just power through for the hell of it. but didnt seem to hold my attention.

This one had a lot of potential but largely didn't live up to it. If you stick with it, the best bits are near the end:

The boss who's a dead ringer for Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII, and whose attacks are totally predictable because he chooses them from a menu. Matt: "An ellipsis? What the hell is THAT supposed to mean?!"

And the enemies from the Wolfenstein 3D (the first FPS) who are technically 2D sprites, so they can turn sideways and become invisible.

Great stuff. Most of the game is generic enemies in generic warehouses though.

I'm surprised by all the hate for this game. It is a budget title to be sure, but I had a lot of fun with it, and I enjoyed the humor -- both Will Arnett and Niel Patrick Harris do a great job with the voices. And as someone else pointed out, the achievements for the game are great.

I picked it up during the Hastings 25% off and 80 cent shipping a week or two ago. I don't like the cover mechanics and become frustrated with the game. I'll finish it at some point but I'm glad I only paid a couple of bucks or so for it.

To me the game is worth $10. I got it on 360 when it first came out and fell in love with the game, but waited for the PS3 version to drop in price. I picked it up used for like $3 from GoHastings, which wasn't bad.

I just loved the humor of the game. Sure, some levels it can be a bit frustrating, but it isn't anything impossible. I was sort of hoping it would warrant a sequel. The best boss battle by far was the Final Fantasy 7 parody one. :p

See I thought the FF boss scene was symptomatic of how dumb the game was. All it managed was self-reference. "Boy guys were in a video game? How about those cutscenes huh?"

This was my first plat. I love will arnett and NPH, but i always forget to not buy video games based on humor or voice acting, but on actual gameplay. and that's where the game let me down.

I got the 1k in the game, and it was probably the most painful one I have ever gotten. Basically the AI is cheap as hell, and it removes all fun from the game. If you aren't going for a 1k/plat, it would be a decent 5$ game, but there are much better.

I ended up ordering one the other day. A buddy on mine that had it said it was fairly funny. Worst case is I can sell on local CL and get my money back.

game is terrible, but worth playing through for the jokes and parodies. Definitely laughed a lot through this. I would say definitely worth $10.
