Is Amazon Getting Tight on Returns?

I've been with Amazon since 2004 and a Prime member since 2011. My returns are very low like I went thru my purchases just this year alone and I buy a lot from them especially auto parts and videogames. I kept 95% of the stuff I bought.

This past week I bought Animal Crossing and the same day they were price matching Walmart and the price dropped 2-3 times. I hadn't received the item and requested a PM and they offered it but the last one they said it's not their policy to give out more than one.

I noticed that all my PM's for AC were categorized under returns. So yesterday I get an email from them stating they were concerned about the high amount of returns. HUH?

So I replied back that their stats were wrong and I kept most of the stuff I bought. We kept responding back and forth as I stood my ground and this morning they said my account remains open and ALL returns will be on a case by case basis. Epic !

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I do like Amazon but there are plenty of other places to buy from on the net. Maybe this is all good timing I guess as they are opening a large warehouse facility in FL so sales taxes will apply in the future.

From what I hear they usually don't price match video games. They will doing once and awhile but generally the rule is they don't on individual price matching. Maybe they are just informing you that they considernit a return and rebuy. i dont know. I have returned several things and never had a problem. Not price match though

I just got an email from Amazon saying no action has been taken on my account and that all they wanted to know was why the high returns and how they can improve my shopping experience. I call that bullshit especially when they warned me that all returns were going to be on a case by case basis. I guess using the term they were threatening me by possibly shutting down my account got them to step back. Who knows?  :???:

A lot of people do abuse their return process and even get pushy with their lenient customer service. Its hard to know who is right and who is wrong. A lot of times when someone has a incident they like to leave out certain details so that they appear more right.

I know I backed off with how lenient they are. I used to think the customer is always right. Now I judge it on a base to base situation. Sometimes they are at fault and sometimes its the customer wanting to be a push over against a lenient company.

Yeah i'm not sure either as I like Amazon and I never try to push an issue just for the reason you stated that they are lenient. This time something happened and can't figure out why. All I did was request 2 PM's on AC: New Leaf when they were PMing Walmart. I always asked never demanded. What I did notice was my price adjustment was classified as "Returns". So that's two returns on the same order. Not sure if that red flagged my account.

Either way they backed down and took no action when I pressed the issue as to why I was being targeted after being a good customer to them since 2004.

Guess what, they don't care about how many things you brought from them in the past.  Amazon doesn't have a PM policy and after the first PM they probably told you it is a one time thing.

You are absolutely right which is why I removed all my CC's from my account. I won't close my account because I still use my Kindle Fire HD.

Won't matter really. Amazon tracks everything, you CC, email address, physical address, and ip address. That why people who got banned have to go through a lot of hoops to go around it.

Yeah I read that too. I just removed my CC so I don't buy anything from there.
