If anyone's interested, I found a good shell swapping guide (good for buying, say, a JP region 3DS for its color, and putting in American guts):

At any rate, just wanted to ask if there's anybody out here familiar with shell swapping. This idea initially came up when I found that 8-11~8-17, Target's selling 3DS XLs for $175 (http://www.target.com/s?searchTerm=3ds+xl&category=0%7CAll%7Cmatchallpartial%7Call+categories&lnk=snav_sbox_3ds+xl).
My thought is that I know, inevitably, my Pika 3DS is going to fall apart. I wanted to pick up a pink 3DS XL on the cheap for a swap later on down the line. Wouldn't it be pretty easy to just pull off the front and back panels, then do a System swap with that Nintendo software (since I'm going from US region to US)? Or am I missing something?
