I am not here to troll but wanted to ask some of the Playstation faithful a couple questions.  I do in fact favor the xbox but own every system.  So I moved my PS3 out of the living room and replaced it with the PS4.  I havn't had much time to really play it but I wanted to stream a movie like I used to do with my PS3.  Then I realized that I cant do this.  Ok so I decided to pop in Superman 3D and I was really surprised to find out PS4 doesn't play 3D movies.  Ouch.  I know that its a game console, but for me I used it primarily as my blu ray player and would stream movies with vuze.  I didn't follow closely to all the stuff put out on the PS4, but is this something that is coming in the future, via a patch?

I had to move the PS3 back in to the living room spot and move the PS4 out.  Sad.

ps4 doesnt stream movies, wat?

Ive used Netflix, amazon prime, hulu, and epix on it.

And 3D is a dying format, very very quickly going obsolete. People arent interested in it.

Last 2 gens I went with xbox over playstation, but its VERY clear that the ps4 is pretty damn amazing.

I'm sure they will address some of these omissions once things calm down. I'm personally upset that the PS4 doesn't support MP3 or external drives. That better get corrected asap.

Im not talking about Netflix.  I used the PS3 to stream content on my computer to my tv, it worked great.  And I enjoy my 3D movies.  I know its not setting sales records but it works well and my family likes to watch it.  I'm surprised no one seems to be bothered by anything the PS4 is doing.  To me as far as the console goes, there is nothing innovative and its taken a step back in a lot of areas.  The games will play great and sony has good first party stuff, but as far as the extra stuff the PS4 is lacking big time.  I hope there will be a patch down the road for some of this stuff.

I heard about the MP3 stuff but I never used that.  Very odd why this stuff was not put in the PS4 though.

Sonys main aim was probably now to bring a firmware thats stable and runs the games, its pretty obvious to me the ps4 will get all the ps3 features and more in the future... Might also be they wanna try for a while to push their services like music unlimited ...

EDIT: you probably mean DLNA streaming, that was already confirmed to be coming in the future along with custom mp3 soundtracks in games ;) There is some sources saying its in the NEXT firmware update, others say its coming "SOON" so no idea when really.

My tv runs all xvid/x264 from usb stick but I really want custom soundtracks in ALL ps4 games, that was only in some games on ps3 sadly

DLNA streaming will be patched in along with some other features soon. Why dont you just use your XBone for DLNA streaming and 3D movie watching in the meantime?

you can't use external drives on the ps4 and theres also no HOME

I'm sure an update will come around to make 3D work with games and movies. I can't say how much longer people will support 3D. It's usually just a gimmick that comes around every 10-15 years and goes away not much sooner. It never appealed to me anyways.

There is already a 3D game (and demo) available for download- Trine 2: Complete Story. There just aren't any 3D physical games since the system does not yet support 3D Blus.

I can honestly say these "omissions" don't bother me as I don't use these features, at least not on my consoles.

Most TVs are Smart TVs these days and most of them support DLNA. It's much quicker for me to access the DLNA on my TV than my PS3. As for 3D, don't like it and don't want it.

I get why some people are upset over the lack of these features, but would not be surprised if they were in the minority.
