How does Best Buy basic warranty coverage handle a broken 3DS XL?

My sons 3DS XL no longer seems to be working correctly and would like to use the two year basic protection plan we bought when we purchased it at Best Buy last year around Christmas to have it repaired or replaced.

Now if they just straight out replace it will they just give us a gift card for what we we paid for it or will they do an even swap? My worry is when we bought it we got a really good deal for it at $159.99 brand new. Right now the basic model is now retailing for $199.99. With it being so close to Christmas I don't want to have to foot the bill for the other $40.00 if you catch my drift.

Thanks,

No idea on the warranty, however, if you have stuff downloaded on it, I think you have to have both systems in your possession to transfer the data from one to the other.

Pretty sure it's like the warranty with their TVs.  Where they'll try to fix it themselves and if it can't be fixed, then they'll replace it.

The easiest way to figure out is to call Best Buy or go into the store with the broken item.

You could also call Nintendo and see if there is a way to troubleshoot it.

I took it in yesterday and they just replaced it. The guy asked me to grab one of the shelf and bring it back up. I ended up getting the silver one with "M & L Dream Team" pre-loaded on it.
