The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy) $10

At this point, I'm just gonna wait for the extended edition of all three movies and get the BD box set in a few years. Great price on it though.

Man, I might just wait for the 6 pack box set. Never got around to getting the original trilogy on Blu Ray

I've been thinking about buying LOTR trilogy on blu ray but I honestly can't decide if it's worth it to spend the extra money on the extended edition. Thoughts?

I personally would get the Extended Editions of the LOTR trilogy over the theatrical versions, as I am a big LOTR fan. If you're a big fan of the movies or books, the added content in the Extended Editions is absolutely awesome. If you're more of a casual fan or would prefer a shorter, tighter trilogy of movies, get the theatrical versions.

I have both the theatrical and Extended Editions of the LOTR trilogy on DVD, then I repurchased the Extended Edition trilogy on Blu-ray when it came out. I don't even see myself watching the theatrical versions again, as the Extended Editions are the definitive versions of those films to me, so I don't have them on Blu-ray.

Definitely worth it. It's not just arbitrary stuff. It really adds to the texture of the film and gives a lot of the characters (especially some of the peripheral ones like, say, Eowyn and Faramir) more depth and nuance.

I'm holding out for another deal on the Hobbit: AUJ Ext. Ed. for the same reasons, even though from what I've seen the additions there are not as essential.

Yeah, although I don't see how you could expect them to be considering how much material they are already trying to stretch into that much film.

I guess a lot more footage of walking? I didnt realize Best Buy has a steelbook extended version until I saw it in-store today. I loved the LoTR but making the Hobbit a trilogy just feels like a moneygrab, and yet I'm ready to throw them my money.
