There is a shop near college and they have tournaments in Magic the Gathering. The entry fee is $20 and the winner gets 90% of the money that goes in and the shop gets the rest. I thought this would be a good way to make some money because I watched them and they all seemed to suck....but I really wouldnt know because I only played for about a month or so before I quit :whistle2:$

I am mainly looking for decks and I know that someone on here has to have some.

I am looking for a Green Stompy deck and some other deck.

Some decks that I would be interested in:
Goblin
Goblin Bidding
Red Deck Wins
White Weenie
Rat
The Rock
etc.

Just list what you have and I will get back to you.
 
i have tons of cards. i usually play speed black or black green stompy. but i'm too old school. i still play with my brother and a roomate and a couple guys in other fraternities. if you have like specific cards in mind i might help ya. or if you want me to sell ya a deck, i could. but many cards i use are a bit expensive.
 
I have a ton of singles from older sets.

Cards include:
Juggernaut (Revised)
Rock Hydra (revised)
Time Warp (alliances)

All sorts of stuff really. I'll get all my cards together (in protective sleeves) and I'll mail you a full list if you wish. Last set I collected was roughly in the range of the 5th edition.
 
Uhh I have a ton of old cards from the first version. I dunno what it's even called, but it was back when it was just "magic". The newest cards I have are when they introduced flanking.

Your in a frat too? I was last year but it dropped my GPA a by a point and a half lol

Do you have a list of some of the more notable cards or any decks that you might have?
 
I'm in Omega Delta Phi. Yeah it dropped my gpa too. thats why my gpa is so crappy.

i dont got a list handy but i'll make a decent deck if ya want. i'll get to it tommorrow. green stompy? it might help to know the rules they play by. Some play by restricted rules, or standard. Might want to ask. Back in the day we called it type 1 and 2 and restricted. now there are a million different rules to play by.

I was in Phi Gamma Delta I think.

Yeah there are a shit ton of rules...But I dont really think it matters what. Type 1.5, Extended, or Type 2 would be the best, but a Type 1 deck would be acceptable too.

Uhh let's see. I dunno what's rare or not, but Keldon Warlord, Lord of the Pit, and Goblin Wardrums come to mind. Other than that a bunch of commons, like the best card ever, Goblin Snowman.
 
My boyfriend and I have an assload of rather nice cards that have yet to be fully organized (may be in the process of being broken up into decks even). When I return home on Saturday, I'll check and see what all we have.

If that's too late, well... good luck with your tournament.

^ those 3 decks have major trouble against any of my decks listed. a VERY good goblin deck with dual lands and the works have trouble against my reanimator/ravager hands down. if peeps play like goblins against u, side board engineered plague with ravager, it's over.

i did it in the finals of a 24 man tourney a while ago.

if ur serious about buying any one of my decks let me know soon. also i will include sleeves for free. if u dont buy the decks theyr'e all ebayed very soon. i just quit magic. my decks are guaranteed no n00b net deck chump bullshit. they've all been refined over the course of years and if you play them to the fullest/smartest I GUARANTEE you will win tourneys.

if you want my opinion the quickest,cheapest,fastest deck is ravager. there is alot of affinity hate but if u sideboard ur fine. and yes i am mean and i run x3 flings in my ravager.

lastly, if you wanna win...buy my decks. if you dont wanna win, get a rat deck or white weenie deck and get stomped on all day.

Are these cards really "rare"? Do they fetch any sort of price? I have Lord of the Pit as well as a ton of other cards from the first set they put out. Ebon Praetor is another one that I remember seeming to be good. Are there any resources out there where you could look some of these up?
 
I have a bunch. I haven't played in years. Would be willing to sell all. I'll see if I can get a list tomorrow.

P.S. I lost my 3 Lord of the Pits. :cry:

i have about 5 starter packs worth of cards (not from starter packs, but thats the quantity i remember) they are 3rd gen or something, it was like 8 years ago or more when i used to "play". Lord of the Pit and the card that goes with it is some of the better stuff along with Heart of the Darkness if i remember correctly, that i have. If you have any interest ill look through them and catalogue them for you. peace.

I have a ton of cards from older series, around the time of the 3rd edition. All the cards that were then valuable would have been pulled and sold, but some sets a few years later I may have some rares still. I never played it, I just got them since my family used to run a sports card store (and they had resale value, so I did buy a bunch of packs looking for cards to resell).
 
Just a hint my man, a knowledgable player with a pre fab starter can kick the crap out of a half assed player with a $4000 deck. Buying a deck will not guarentee or honestly even make likely a win. Although, a complete dumb ass won states here in '99 with a deck one of my co-workers at the time made, so you never know. He wasn't a very good player at all, but he learned how to play the deck well, and was VERY good at getting people DQ'd, which in a major tourney, can actually get you further than skill. But truthfully, knowledge of the game is much more important than what cards you have. If you are serious though, you need to find out what format the tournaments are (Type II, Type 1.5, Type 1, extended, or anything else new they may have come up with-I've been out for a few years now). I went to a type II tourney and some moron dropped a first turn Sol Ring. There went his $25. You would want to avoid that. Goblins are fun and cheap BTW. Also it's much easier to play than, oh, say, control. You can put together a decent 1.5 deck without that much cash ($200-300, something like that). That may sound expensive, but my type I deck is something like 4-6k.
 
^ yep agreed. good decks are about that much for legacy on average. and yes, definitely experience is no.1 but seriously that is just automatic given in anything in life.

imo good legacy goblin decks aren't that cheap. still averages about 200 or even more if ur running dual lands. damn i wish i had a t1 deck worth 4k lol. my whole legacy collection ebay price is 1400 tops lol.
 
wow People still play Paper magic the gathering.. thought most people went over to the ONLINE part by now.. Magic online used to be fun but got Awful very very quickly. I still remember the server was almost down every day when 8.0 hit..


im like 2 wins and 3 billion loses online : ) i really suck at the game.. i would rather see online move to a 1 game set not 2 out of 3 ..

i used to play major time from Feb 2003 to Dec 2003 and lost interest in the game..
 
I bought a ton of magic cards a while back, but I decided I hate that bloody stupid game.

How much could I sell 800+ magic cards for? There are a bunch of rares, like a multicolor card that requires one of each mana and has 5 different effects, an 11/11 sea creature, and a bunch of wurm cards including "crush of wurms". There is also a shitload of mana, which I got from decks, but most of the cards are from packs.
 
I got a good amount of rares id sell.

I have angels if youre interested: Angel of Retribution, Warrior Angel, Wayward Angel, Blinding Angel, Akroma, Platinum Angel (You cant lose the game, and your opponents cant win the game) and a couple other noteable things like Chromium, a few dragons, Avatar of Hope, Avatar of Will, Clone, Decree of Savagery, Decree of Justice and others
 
Ravager? Like the banned Arcbound Ravager? I can't win many tourneys with a deck that hinges on a banned card.

Pretty lame that you're getting mad MtG love, took me forever. :p I've got 1500 to 2000 assorted cards from Revised to Ravnica, and the better stuff is on here. I'm putting the finishing touches on my extended Black Green Stompy/Rock (BGS for the win, so much fun), so I'll probably not want to part with the cooler B/G rares. Let me know though.

I sold all my decks and rares on eBay about 3 years ago....Not recently.

You listed the decks that you posted in my thread on eBay? I just bought a Goblin Bidding Deck from MOTL, but if you did list them send me a link and I might bid on them.
 
goblins is a pretty solid deck. definitely top 4 imo(if it's the right build/smart player). people hate this deck alot, so hopefully you have a really good sideboard.

and please tell me that guy that sold u the deck is running aether vials in the deck.

I already have vials so he didnt have to sell me those.

I woulda bought your scepter deck...I really wanted it, but he offered me a better price. I would still be willing to buy another deck or some more cards...Just not anything super expensive.

I need some Goblin Lackey's though...Where I will use the deck for Type 1.5 I can run those...his deck is Type 2 so they werent in it.

EDIT: I also literally just bought the deck about an hour ago. ;)

a good type 1.5 goblin deck is easily 200 dollars. just putting in lackeys for a 1.5 tourney wont cut it.

and my scepter chant deck everyone wants no doubt. it's easily won 20 tourneys here against hardcore peeps. the only drawback is the deck is 1.5 and i didn't hold back on money. ebay price easily go for 325+ and that's selling it singles. selling it as a deck almost always goes for more/ much more.

The deck I bought has piledrivers, sharpshooters, bloodstained mires, patriarch's biddings, chrome mox, etc.

Dual lands arent that great..I have 4 of each of them...plus 2 volcanic island and 1 taiga is beta. I also have 4 foil chrome mox. Those are the only cards that I kept after selling out.
 
If youre doing Goblin decks you NEED Goblin Grenades, in my opinion its the best card in fallen empires. If you ever need a hand building that type of deck feel free to shoot me a PM, id be more than willing to help

I do need goblin grenades, but I cant use them in extended....I can only put lackeys and grenades in in type 1.5.

I was thinking about changing the deck to Goblin Foodchain if I use it in 1.5
 
I have close to 17,000 cards up through Stronghold. I don't have any betas or alphas, but pretty much everything else is in there. I couldn't even begin to list rares as there are SO many in there it isn't funny - but I would be willing to part ways with stuff you might want. If you have a list of individual cards, let me know what they are. I'll trade for games, sell, whatever...
