Looking for a good freeware video converter

I'm looking for a good freeware video converter - something that I can use to convert WMV to MPEG, etc. The only things I seem to be finding on Google are free trials and a program that wanted me to install spyware before I could use it. Ugh.

Can anybody help me out?

TMPGEnc, I believe, has is shareware... Uhm... It will ask you to register after the trial runs out, but never forces you to purchase it. Like WinZip did (or used to).

I've had really good success with that.
