Opera on the Wii, Browser on the PS3, and IE on X360?

I think I would use it if I just needed to find something quickly, or pc is off.
If its any good and compatible with mouse and keyboard, might just use it.

But I guess to compete with sony and nintendo, Microsoft might just do it too.

the only web browser type thing I'd like to see added to the 360 is AIM. It would be pretty damn cool to be able to talk to people on AIM while I'm playing a game.

3 letters: MSN.
yea but M$ owns MSN - not AIM.
I realize this but that doesn't mean that an agreement couldn't be worked out between the 2 companies.

What I want is MS Music through my 360. I'm not talking just the custom soundtrack, but browsing for new music and especially the ability stream internet radio stations while I'm gaming.

I'd use it if it was there but I really dont see it as being that much of an important factor. I'm shocked that Wii will have the feature. They've always said that there about gaming only. I think that they should be concentrating on their online game plan instead.

I could care less.....I guess if I could hook up a mouse and keyboard might be OK. It would just be a big-ass computer for me then. I mainly use my PC for browsing and a few other things only.

If we get a browser, M$ might be waiting to make a new version of IE and release it simulateously on the 360 and PC.

Just a thought ^_-;

Oh sure, why the hell not?

Just lemme plug a keyboard and mouse into the USB ports for when I don't wanna peck across the VKeyboard with thumbsticks.

And if the 360 can pickup bluetooth signals, lemme use wireless versions of the above, too!

Put messenger on that sucker too, while they're at it.

About the Wii...
Damn, look at that article about it's web features... does that not bring to mind those internet boxes that you connect to a TV that are somewhat popular? Nintendo might have a damn good selling point right there for the Wii, especially in view of them trying to net new groups that otherwise would never buy a console.

I've never seen sales figures but seriously, how many people use Web TV or any other set top internet access boxes?

I seldom used my Dreamcast browser and when I did it was to download saves to VMU's.

Same here, but that's because my Dreamcast was on dial-up and my PC was broadband. If I had kept my broadband adapter (d'oh) I would have used it once in a while. It wouldn't replace my PC, but it would have been a nice option to have.
What can it hurt?
Couldn't this possibly open the door to viruses? Or would the 360 browser act the same way the PSP does to not allow viruses (which I can't remember why they said that the PSP browser doesn't allow the system to be hurt)?
I can think of loads of reasons it would be a great idea.
What would adding just a browser and nothing else do? If they added the ability to download a trailer from a website and then watch it on the 360 it would do something, but there's not much a console web browser can do since a computer is in every household where a 360 is. The PSP browser is cool since you can use it while at a restaurant or store if you need to look something up.

one word....LAG

Allow them to prevent Sony or Nintendo saying "we offer this, and the 360 does not."

It would be less work to just say,"Why bother when over 95% of you already have a PC running our OS with our browser."

There is already a shareware applet that lets Media Connect display web pages pulled down on a Media Center PC across the network to a Xbox 360's screen. It only lets you use existing bookmarks but it would be trivial for Microsoft to upgrade the Xbox 360 side of Media Connect to let you use a PC as a full function web proxy. This would be far less work than a native 360 browser and would further levearage the connection between the 360 and Windows. It would be too laggy for flash games but it isn't like they'd want to encourage that anyway.
