I didn't know they even pennied out used stuff but I guess they do. I also checked and wasen't surprised that they didn't have a page online since they don't for anything discontinued B&M like guides.

PO-XB LIGHTGUN AL is the description on the price tag and the item number is 2319630. The item number on the receipt was 900544, to which I'm thinking 2319630 was the old EBgames item number and 900544 is GameStop's.

I'm thinking that people will have a better chance of finding these at EBgames as it's probably easier to miss pulling these with all the merger related stuff over the last few months.
hey man, it´s that the green madcatz xbox gun? if so that´s awesome
If I understand correctly it's any used light gun for the xbox. IIRC they had a picture of the Green Madcatz gun on their website which was probably the same item number as it was 17.99 just as the gun I bought was tagged at. The light gun at my store was a Silent Scope Light Rifle and has I was taking a look at it to make sure it had everything the guy working said that I'll probably want it regardless of if it's missing anything.

That´s cool, especially for HOD and stuff, bad thing is that sinc eit´s out of the website we can´t check for availability... *sigh*

very YMNV, all store are suppose to pull pennied merchandise and throw them out and zero them out in the register.
I checked today, scanned at 14.99. Also, they said that "anyone who sells something for a penny gets fired." =\
Well, the way I see it, they just need to ring it through the register and mark it down to 0.00 and then hand the item over. It wouldn't hurt them at all and saves them the work of destroying it.

technically those things are suppose to be included with copy of the cust receipt and stuck in a field destroy pile

Are you sure you checked the right item? And was this at EBgames or GameStop for all I know this might only be good at EBgames has I don't have any GameStops in my area.

Yeah, there is a problem with the new 2.3 operating system. I just got some used PS2 network adapters that came in as $.01. I just left them in the back til they fix it.

Yeah, I got into a conversation with a new employee about that, and he was a good ol brainwashed monkey, wouldn't budge on the "must be destroyed" stance. He then went off to try and sell me an Edge card about 4 times (everyone else knows to only ask me crap once, they're really cool about it) and tried to charge me 3 bucks for the JSRF/Sega GT that was marked on the box as .99 . =\

I bought one the other day. Not that there's much to use it for, but I couldn't pass it up for a penny.

Ok, first off, there's no reason to snipe at me for that. We're not GameFAQs.

Anyway, the brainwashed comment came more from the anger that arose from both being asked to buy an edge card multiple times (Yes, I dont buy enough used games from EB to justify it, especially with the death of the morning update) and being overcharged on a item. I even said "Hey, it's marked at .99" and he said there was nothing he could do. Only when a manager that knows me stepped in did he do anything. The guy had no skills with customer service and it was a frustrating sale.

^ That happened to me twice at EB with prices ringing up higher than the sticker price. One game was tagged $2.99 and it rang up $19.99 and another time a game was tagged $9.99 ang rang up for $29.99. Both times they wouldn't honor the sticker price (it was the for the correct games as it had the game name on the price sticker but they must have raised the prices). It is very annoying because if they can't update the display copy price stickers fast enough then they should be willing to honor the sticker price.

That happened to me a couple of days ago with the Sega GT/JSR game. The GS employee said they must have missed the sticker and gave it to me for $0.99.

I'm not sure but I think in CA it's a crime to tag something for a lower price then charge you for more then it was taged. Most places have a policy of honoring the lower price. I know I've done it once back when Funcoland was still around. At very least you can report them to the BBB and see what they can do.

I finally found a manager at a GS here who is willing to honor the price that the items come up to. He told me when we talked last week that 'if I find any pennied out guides, I can have them at that price, since they're on the floor'.

So, I went up to his store the other day and found copies of F.E.A.R., Lineage II and Freelance PC guides on the shelf. They all rang up .01. He was not there, the clerks who were started giving me the typical 'we cant sell it' stuff.

Thank God one of them was there when I had the talk with the store manager and she recalled him telling me 'if its out there, we will sell it to you for a penny'.

So, I got 3 guides for .03. Not a bad day. As for this gun, really, how many games CAN you use it on??? Not that many that I can recall offhand.

Oh well, I'll still look for it when I go to my local GS/EB next time anyway.

Good luck finding one of these. My guess is that EB is the best source as they are still in transit with their changeover to GS. I checked a local GS and was told that they no longer carry used Light guns as they had problems with them breaking and did not have a good way to pre-test them prior to trade-in.

Thanks for the heads up though. I ran out to check (just in case).

Good deal for the Lightgun price (if they still had any). It's a shame more light gun games didn't come out for the XBOX. Silent Scope was messed up in that you had to turn up the brightness so much the screen was nearly washed out (making it harder to see the enemies) just so the shots could be detected (at least with the rifle).

House of the Dead 3 was fun (and the only "true" arcade lightgun style game). However, for some reason you could nearly beat the game by keeping your gun near the center of the screen and just waiting til the enemies reached that spot.

Starsky & Hutch was neat in that the lightgun part worked for 2 player. One person drove the car while the other would shoot. While neat, it was little more than a gimmic.

Well, at least I still have my Dreamcast with HotD2, Confidential Mission (great fun game), Virtua Cop (from the Sega Smash pack disc) and Death Crimson OX (probably one of, if not THE, worst lightgun games, not to mention story and translations..."macaroni and cheese"...WTF???...I've ever played).

Oh, and I still have my SNES copy of Lethal Enforcers with the blue AND the red (okay, so it looks pink) lightguns.

I wish Namco would make a new Point Blank game (the one for the DS looks cool but I don't think that really counts). That is still my favorite light gun series.

I probably should have reported them. If it ever happens again then I guess I'll report it. I seem to always run into problems with EB so I try not to shop there unless they are having some amazing deal (like when they used to clearance out games for $2.99 new)

lightguns would be popluar if sony or microsoft had an official one and put some money into it and gave it atleast one big name.
For example say an action movie comes out the lightgun could look like the gun in the movie and go with the movie game. Instead of generic 'lets hunt dinosaurs for no reason'.

Also Id like to go ahead and ask is it realistic that someone would get fired if the manager just decided to ignore that rule ? Is someone gonna come by from corprate and check and make sure there not selling penny items? lol

For those of you with the modded boxes, the lightgun can also be used with emulators. I have a great time playing yoshi's safari and the like(I own the cart also..) when I don't have my snes and super scope with me.

Skelah,

I agree direct support from console makers would help. However, from the Dreamcast, they shy'd away from them for one reason...Columbine. Sega was going to release an official lightgun for the DC until then. Once that happened, they cancelled plans to do so.

There is some speculation that the MadCatz lightgun produced for the DC in the US was possibly going to be the official one. It's the ONLY lightgun (not to mention nearly the ONLY peripheral) made by a third party to have the "official" DC swirl logo on it. The thought is that MadCatz was producing the guns for Sega until Sega dropped the plans to release a first party one for the DC. Since the guns were already manufactured (with the DC logos), MadCatz just stuck them in boxes and released them as a 3rd party item. It's also interesting to note that of any lightguns for the US, the MadCatz ones were the most sturdy and had plastic that more closely resembled that of the official DC items than any other 3rd party lightgun.

After Columbine, console manufacturers were not as interested in releasing lightguns due to the controversy surrounding "killing simulators" as some people called games where you're goal was to shoot people/etc. (including FPS games like DooM).

I never realy thought about that connection logicly tho any first person shooter resembles using a gun hopefuly they choose to ignore those past events and get back into it at some point.

I would imagine the closest thing we are gonna get is with the wii controller (and possibly that gun shaped remote holder thing shown at E3). It's a bit easier to convince people that Duck Hunt type games are "just for fun". Even Nintendo hasn't had a 1st party lightgun since the SNES Super Scope (which wasn't designed like a pistol type gun but more like a bazooka).

One down side about lightguns for older (US) consoles...they will not work with the newer HDTVs. They were designed to work @ 60Hz and the newer HDTVs usually run @ 100Hz. So, for fans of older lightgun games, you must keep an older TV around if you wanna play them. Some 3rd party guns for newer consoles (like XBOX) have been released, which can be found on ebay, that do support both 60 & 100 Hz TVs thou.
