would it be cheaper to pick up a hard drive on sale (almost always) and picking up an enclosure seperate ($15-$35)?

Just a thought. Makes it easier to upgrade in the future.

Most external HD are swappable... it's only the micro HDs that aren't. And it's a misconception to think that you can make a cheaper external. Usually they end up being the same price. Just as HDs alone get rebates, those same rebates apply to external HDs if you buy the HD with an enclosure.

Honestly, I dont plan on doing many upgrades and would like a place to stash alot of videos and shite and someone suggested that. I dont play online games or anything so I dont have a super kickass comp.
