Leipzig Games Convention...Nintendo Conference tonight at 4:30 AM EST.

Rumor has it that they'll announce launch/price information for the Wii.

I'll be checking the computer before I go to school in the morning.

Unless the European launch doesnt lag significantly behind, it would kind of be awkward to go to a big convention IN EUROPE to give everyone disappointment by announcing EVERYONES launch.

I just want to know the price of the system, the package, and how much the games will cost. That'll satisfy me. But knowing them, they'll keep us waiting... and thinking.

Could someone please be my best friend and PM me with the information if you have extra time, if not that's cool Or keep this topic bumped tomorrow. I'm always rushed and don't wanna spend extra time searching the forums for something...>_>
i hear they will announce mario strikers and battalion wars for the Wii
I had heard rumors of Mario Strikers, but not Battalion Wars.

I never even heard of this convention I find it kind of rare if they say big news like date and price their. I would think TGS would tell all.

I'm pretty sure that they aren't speaking at TGS.

Leaving this as the only "major" convention before November. Hence the likelihood of some good info.

well here is what i heard

*RUMOR* Mario Strikers 2 and Battalion Wars 2 Announced Tomorrow?
August 22nd, 2006

According to a Nordic website, Nintendo will announce the sequels to Battalion Wars and Super Mario Strikers tomorrow at LGC. Both games will be for the Wii. Thanks to Martijn for the tip!

I think both these titles would be awesome with the Wii’s innovative controller. We’ve heard quite a few rumors about a Strikers sequel, but this Battalion Wars rumor hasn’t come up in a while. We’ll know tomorrow if this one is true!

I'm not crazy about either of those games. Maybe they will have an update on Super Smash Brothers. Also hopefully they will say what will be packaged in the box of the Wii.

I am still calling for a CAGchat of sorts if anyone is awake.

Feel free to message me on AIM (Zeiganfreid) when the time comes.

Exactly. It'd be stupid if they just announced it in a press release on some random day.

And didn't they say the European/North American/Japanese launches would be very close?

I hope we get a lot of new info. I've been dying from the lack of info.
I wont be up that early, but I'll be sure to check a computer as soon as I get to school.

Here is the lowdown.

At least 1 new title confirmed to be shown (says IGN) and up to 5 titles are rumored to be shown.

Pricing and release info would make sense, because this is the last real event before the fall season that Nintendo is attending. Plus, Iwata said the price announcement would come by September, and there aren't that many days left. A leaked UK GAME manager email states that countdown clocks for Wii launch were installed on stores last week and are to be activated next week. Also, at a Gamestop meeting last week, managers were told to get ready to take Wii pre-orders this week or the next.

Most of the stuff are rumors, but it will only be about 6 more hours til we know what is and what is not. ;)

Don't quote me on this but I have a friend at Nintendo(not joking) that says the GS/EB/GC will take pre-orders sometime after Wed. I hope he/she wasn't pulling my chain.

They are. EB/GS/GC will not take preorders until a final price/date is set and there's set-in-stone numbers on how many consoles each store will get.

My question to the nay-sayers is then why is their tagline "Wii keep our promise"? What promise would they be keeping other than the price announcement? The said they weren't going to release the info at E3, in fact Reggie said (and I quote) "As for date and price, we believe it's in our interest to keep the details secret for just a while longer."

I'm thinking and hoping that the info will be revealed tomorrow.
There are a lot of days that are sometime after Wednesday.
But it's better some day after weds then "No game stores will take reserves, you will have to get in line launch morning" Im just happy he/she didn't say that was the plan. Because that's what it was starting to look like. Nintendo and Sony were going to make people wait in "HYPE LINES" to create holiday buzz.

If I'm awake when it happens I wouldnt mind doing a chat thing with any other people awake.

I hope to God there is a price announcement, I really really want to know.

When he walks down the street the song "Smack My Bitch Up" plays, just to warn people that he's NOT fuckING AROUND.

Super Mario Strikers makes a lot of sense to be announced, considering this is Europe and all where they'd be announcing it.

I'm still expecting a formal announcement of a Mario Artist type title, akin to a mix of the composing demo from E3 and Mario Paint for the SNES. Just makes sense with the Wii and I think has been rumored, but never officially announced.

I wonder how one would play Strikers with the Wiimote...:whistle2:k

Move with the analog stick and then use the Wiimote to kick? Hold down a button to pass rather than kick? Or maybe just the force of your swing determines if it's a kick vs. pass.

Keeping my eyes here...

If anybody knows of streaming video or live blogs, do share.

The closer we get to this thing, the bigger feeling I get that Nintendo's just going to announce 5 games and maybe pull out another wiimote pony trick (e.g. 'thwip' of the arrows from the speaker). After all, Iwata did say that they'd announce price and date before late September--that gives Nintendo another full month to piss about. We'll see in a few hours, I guess.
