Gamefly Question

I am considering getting a trial membership just so I can purchase a couple hard to find games at their "keep it now" prices. So I have a couple questions:

1. Can you purchase games while on a trial membership?
2. What is the likelyhood that the games aren't available during the 10 trial period? Is there anyway to see how long of a wait there is for each game?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I did my free trial a little while back, the keep it now was available but I didn't use it so I can't definitively say it works. However, I'd expect there wouldn't be a problem.

Hard to find games generally don't have a keep it now option and the really hard to find games often aren't readily available. A game like Ikaruga for the gamecube has been sitting in my queue for months. I wouldn't expect to get anything that has an availability of Long Wait within your 10 day trial. Short Waits generally pop up fairly quickly.

I find that Gamefly really shines with it's new games. They are often marked down %20 percent from retail and if you get them soon after release they are unused. 360 games go for around $50 and Wii games are about $40.

Thanks for the info. So there is no way to tell if there is a wait unless you are a member?

Anybody with a membership want to do me a favor?

im sure if you put down the games you want here members will be more then happy to tell you what the wait is.

BUT the wait time dont really mean a thing since they get games in every day and ship games out everyday. Few months back i had a game said LONG WAIT and it shipped. Other games like

MAZE OF FATE has been sitting on short wait since Dec 21

also a game could show now BUT other people in front of you could have that in their Q longer so they would get it so it could show NOW But be short wait by the time yours fills.

Just looking at the newest 8 games that came out per system

PS2 5 of the 10 are short or long wait
PS3 9 of the 10 are SHORT WAIT
PSP 7 out of the 10 are SHORT WAIT
XBOX 360 8 out of 10 ARE SHORT WAIT
WII 5 out of 10 ARE SHORT WAIT

so you can see a lot of the newer games are short wait

Yeah, I guess that is true. I just have never used it and not sure if a short wait would make it in the ten days. I am looking specifically to get Electroplankton and Warioware Touched. If anyone has a membership, and a moment, and could see what the wait is on those I would greatly appreciate it as I don't want to waste my one free trial for nothing.

Electroplankton is Available now with a keep it of $19.99
Wario Ware: Touched! is Available now with a keep it of $26.99

if you go to gamefly i see they dropped the prices for the first month

its like 8.95 for the first month 1 game or 12.95 for 2 games first month.

that might be a way to go if your looking at playing a lot of games. Now if you only want 1 or 2 games to BUY Them then the 10 days free would be the way. BUT if it take 5 days to get them and 5 days to return them that doesnt leave you that much time to play them.

If gamefly doesnt have the games back within 7 days of the cancell they will bill you for the games.

also go to

http://www.brightspot.tv/gamefly.aspx

sign up and get 5 bucks knocked off your membership (after being member for 60 days ) though it says 30 its really 60

i already got 10 bucks in credits (5 bucks off my jan bill and will get 5 bucks knocked off my FEB bill so they are paying the cash)

i'm pretty sure that once you have a game out, you can use "keep it" on any game.

there are just some games that you can't purchase unless you already have it out.

You can use "keep it now" as a trial member, but you have to pay shipping. As a normal member, shipping is free. Also remember that some truly hard-to-find games cannot be bought.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know you would have to pay shipping during the trial period.

I signed up for the trial and a day later I got an email saying a trial membership was already setup with that info, which is not true, and my account was put on hold. I sent an email 2 days ago and have yet to receive a response. I did buy games from them a couple years back so maybe inputting my info is now considered an account. Not a good first impression for Gamefly. Of course they were willing to charge me and start my membership right then!
