Back story for me: I've got fios, but I have the router and my TV in opposite parts of the house.  I don't have ethernet laid in my house and I'm tired of slow downloads and tons of buffering over WiFi..  I had been thinking about ethernet over powerline but have read it can be flaky then I found out about this.  It's all plug and play though I did need to reset my router.  I'm getting my full Internet speed in my living room now.  I hooked the adapter up to a switch (also plug and play) and now I have 4 things in my living room with wired ethernet.  I'd recommend this for anyone also in this situation.

MoCA is a great way to work around wireless issues or "can't install Ethernet cable cleanly" issues.

The Actiontec adapters are only limited to 10/100 Ethernet ports, though they do come pretty close to hitting 100Mbps unless the coax wiring in your apartment/house is complete crap.

I've been using them for multiple years for shifting content from Tivo to Tivo and they work very very well for that, plus general networking.

I would recommend getting a MoCA privacy adapter to make sure any MoCA traffic doesn't go upstream to the local cable loop, which installs between the cable feed into the house/apartment and the first splitter.

I've got Fios, I thought that didn't share with your neighbors? Also, I'm in a house. Could you link the privacy adapter? I hadn't heard about that.

edit: nevermind, after some searching I found a picture of one that someone had for Fios. They had it hooked up to the box outside so I might go ahead and do that.

If you have FIOS, then yes, it's not on a shared loop, though your packets will still be able to go upstream to the FIOS head-end.  Since I'm on cable, it's going upstream to my local cable loop for my house and neighbors, which is why I installed it on my cable.

Another option for the privacy filter, which is from Tivo:

I picked up some of the cheap filters from eBay. I'll put one inside the box on the outside of my house (like in the picture I linked) then the other I'll stick in front of my cable box. I don't think I actually need the one for the cable box but it can't hurt.

You only need the one from your demarc point outside of your house, as you only want to stop it from leaving your residence. Mine's inline between my cable feed inside of my house and the 8-way powered amplified splitter that splits the cable feed across my house.

 
Hmm..it's limiting the download from 25mbit down to 15.0. 

edit: I unplugged the one from the cable box and it went up to 23mbit d/l.  Then put it back onto the cable box and it was still getting 23mbit d/l.  I have no idea why it dropped to 15 initially.

Any idea how to increase upload speeds?
