If anyone remembers from last year, the "mixes" had cards in them that you would fill out and send with a check for shipping and handling then they would send you a skylanders sidekick "free".

This year they're doing the promo again for Skylanders Giants EXCEPT it's much better.  Instead of mailing in the form, you simply input the code in the bag on the site and you can pay them with PayPal.  Also, you get to chose which character you get this year instead of them deciding which to give you.

Limit of one of each character per household.

In addition they include coupons for $1 off Skylanders Spyro's Adventure or Skylanders Giants Figure, $5 off Skylanders Giants Starter Pack, and $10 off Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack.

Are these actually exclusive figures? I'm not into the game myself but my nephew is. I'd be one sick uncle if I were to show up with 4 figures he's never had before :D

Picked up a bag of chips Saturday at Harris Teeter just to do the code for this. Looking foward to at least a Minjini, though I might by more chips between now and October to get all 4 if I can.

I don't play the game either. That said they're exclusives and what they do is simply follow your main character around. If it's like last year it's or show only. If you plan on selling on eBay they were selling for $20 each last year. Don't know if they'll be worth that this year.

Each of the specially marked packages has one. That said, they aren't all exactly the same. On one of my bags there was a card inside the bag that had the codes and coupons. On the other one all of that information was literally printed inside the bag. If you have it printed inside look for the code next to the coupons, it's there but not specifically listed as "use this code".

The chip assortments are maybe $6.99 each at Target? Give or take a dollar or two depending on location and/or possible sales.

Get them while you can, last year they sold out of the promo bags well before the end of the promotion.

 
Note of caution: The website for this promotion is truly JACKED UP. My first attempt to purchase all four characters failed on the 4th one because something failed while trying to pay for it using PayPal. I don't know why they make you use PayPal, but that sucks BIG TIME.

Since the 4th one failed, the code was not useable again, so I had to go buy another bag of chips.

Thank god I bought 5 more bags, but then they would not let me get another using the same address. Luckily, I have another address to use. I tried to order a whole new set of characters for the second household, but then on the 3rd character it stated that I could not get another character using the same address. I didn't even get two difference characters for the same address.

Needless to say, 14 bags later, and using some interesting tricks with different emails, phone numbers and addresses, I was able to order a full set. What a total pain the butt.

Anyone else have a problem with the website rejecting valid orders for the same household?

 
Where are people finding the Frito packages?  I'm in North East Ohio and haven't seen any yet.  Target, Walmart and Giant Eagle didn't have them.  Where did you guys get them last year or find them this year?  Flippers are probably emptying entire store shelves.

 
I hope these will be worth about as much as the old ones were. I've got several valid addresses at my disposal.

If you still have the code, just e-mail them and they'll probably sort it out for you.

Thanks. I have been finding them at Walmart around the DFW area. I'm sure you could find them on Ebay too.

 
Ugh..damn! Sucks Puerto Rico is not included. Anyone willing to hook me with the 4 of them for $20-$25 (PayPal) shipped? :p

I know most will probably try to put them on eBay at $20 each. XD But I like the series and the figurines.

To get the original 4 sidekicks, I was "lucky" that Gamestop had an offer a few months ago  on which they gave you a Sidekick for spending each $15 you spent in Skylanders merchandise (or something like that). Otherwise, there was no other way outside eBay.

Is this if off-topic, then let me know/erase/etc. :p

 
Last year the key was to sell your sidekicks internationally (on eBay) as it was an offer only valid in the U.S.  I sold my set of 4 sidekicks to someone in the UK for a little over $100.  This year should be no different to those who want a cupboardful of free chips and about $70 net profit for an hour of their time.

FEROCA: you'll need to realize that the initial investment is a minimum of $34 [($6+$2.50)x4] + 6-8 weeks of waiting.  One does not simply "hook one up" with sidekicks :)  I realize that the $6 goes towards little bags of chips, but none of us here really want a smabillion bags of chips all at once.

With that said, things you can do with 96 (sorry, 80. last year there were 4 bonus bags in each bag) stupidly small bags of chips:

1. Pinata filling (no really, it works great; only one or two bags explode in the process)

2. Halloween handouts

3. School lunch snack.  These things don't really go bad, I still have a bag or two left over from last year's promo, and they're just as...well...the same...as they were when I first bought them.

4. side-of-the-road bum-holding-a-sign donation.  You can freely toss them directly at their head without fear of hurting them, and it keeps them far enough away from your car that you don't have to actually talk to them or hear their sad story of how their car broke down on the way to Vegas and now they have to get back home.

Heck, I got about $100 for one of my sets and I sold it to someone here in the US. Some people either had trouble tracking them down (even though the UPC's were on eBay for fairly cheap) or they simply didn't know about the promo until too late.

Also, you can see if someone is running a Terracycle Snack Bag brigade near you. If so, you can save the bags and turn them in at your convenience. Once sent in by the collector, they will be turned into messenger bags, school supplies, and whatnot. I run several brigades myself (still on the waitlist for chip bags, unfortunately) and it's pretty neat. Whenever I earn enough points, I can redeem them for charitable donations (or cool products, but I prefer the former).
 
finally found 4 bags on an end cap at a Target in Columbus, OH while traveling.  The only four Skylanders bags they had left but had numerous generic packaging bags.  Plus some generic bags had Buy 2 save $2 coupons that I peeled off and used.  Still have not seen these in NE OH area.  Didn't do this last year so I'm new at this but my guess is that there are only a few Skylanders bags in each Frito shipment?

3 bags had code card/coupon loose inside, 1 bag had code card/coupon printed on inside of bag.  The printed code is by the coupons but not labeled in any way.

I didn't have any trouble entering all 4 codes last night.  FYI - there is a confirmation# at the end of the transaction you can write down for your records.  I didn't notice on the first one until it was too late.

 
A new Dollar General just opened down the street and they had about 50 or so of the Skylanders bag, so they're certainly not in short supply. It all just depends on your area and which stores you check.
 
Just got my first two in the mail today.  Only thing that makes me nervous is that they were the last ones I sent.  Hoping the first two show up soon and that there wasn't some sort of problem.

 
Finally caved and bought a bag today for Eye Small.  Turns out it had two cards in the bag, so I double-suckered into also ordering a Mini Jini. :)

When the online form includes a checkbox that you have to mark stating " I understand that this Skylander Giants™ Sidekicks offer is exclusive until October 20, 2013.", you can most definitely believe that they will be offered at retail sometime after that date, probably through Gamestop again.

Just went by my local target in Bossier City, LA and they had 20-30 bags on the shelf fully stocked.  I grabbed 4 and felt really awkward checking out....

It looks like they're going for a good $30 online right now. That's a pretty good price.

Minus your overhead you're virtually making no profit. Have to factor in price of chips, gas, shipping fee, time spent. Ebay/paypal fees.

Trying to flip these is a nickel and dime profit. I was thinking of doing it myself but saw it's not worthwhile and I have no desire to collect these.

You're making some big assumptions there. I found this two years in a row because I eat these little bags of chips with my lunch. Subtracting the cost of the chips assumes that I wouldn't buy the chips anyway and will presumably just throw them away. Nonsense.

You're still buying them in quantities and at a rate that you normally wouldn't if not for the toy promo. That's why you only participate when the promo comes around and you probably don't buy these size bags when the promo isn't active.

If you bought them regularly it's a different story. You're buying them for the toy and telling yourself you'll finish the chips before they go bad. Nothing wrong with that but that you mentioned the value on ebay makes me think you are in it for a monetary value. Which is really nickel and dime profit.

I would do it if you want the toy. Not to make $10-20 bucks. Which IMO factoring in the time and effort isn't really what I consider a profit. That's why I didn't get any chips myself.

So....just curious...if you have something...anything but lets use a game for example...that you no longer want. That game is worth maybe 10 bucks on eBay and 1 dollar trade in at GS or Amazon. Would you sell it on eBay, trade it in, throw it in the trash, or become a hoarder?

 
My wife picked up a bag today and I redeemed the code. Thinking about going back and getting more while the bags are on sale for $5. That's unless someone wants to PM their code  :bouncy:

 
I can't find any bags in my stores with this promotion, so if anyone has an extra code I'd love to buy it off you. I'll give you $3 paypal or if you're interested I have Origin keys to all of the Humble Bundle games except Sims 3. I just need 2 codes. PM if interested.

So far we've only gotten 1 of the figures we ordered back in July.  Has anyone else not received some of their orders?
