Diablo III is down to $44.99 when preordered from Toys R Us.com.  It ships free but I'm sure there will be a few bucks for the taxman.

I am not sure what to make of this game now considering these pre-release price drops.  (Recently, Amazon had it for $49.99).  Mayhaps it is not a good port.  Mayhaps.

Anyway, nervous linkage here:

:ps3: Diablo III - PS3 - $44.99

:360: Diablo III - X360 - $44.99

I think it's not necessarily that it's a bad port, but more so that the die hard fans had already bought it for the PC so the demand for the console versions is not as strong as they thought.  The game has been out on the PC for over a year now.  They really should've priced it at $40 MSRP or less, imo.

I'm tempted to go ahead and pre-order this. My PC isn't up to gaming, and I didn't like some of the PC features (auction house, always online, etc...). I always prefered single player anyway.

So, I've been waiting a long, long time to play Diablo 3... but I only have a 360, the pre-order bonuses are better for PS3, and this does seem like it will probably be cheaper in the relatively near future.

I think the lower prices are just to encourage higher sales.  It's an older game for one, and many people are just going to wait for the PS4 version.

I still play the PC version.  I'm looking forward to a console version.  At this point, I'm waiting for the PS4 version...but if they announced that the PS4 version wasn't coming out until Late Spring/Early Summer next year, I'd debate buying it at $40 for the PS3.  At $60, no way in hell.  At $30, a day one purchase.

I think they're taking this kinda mentality into play when selling it.  It's probably a lot better to sell a ton of copies at a lower price than to charge full retail and hope that people will buy it.  After all, a lot of people are hesitant to touch it due to the fact that it's been such an easy target for Internet trolls since launch.  It's cool to bash, so people bash it.

D2 and its expansion hit the spot like no other game for me but D3 was so stingy and cooperative-play-hostile on release that I gave up.  To those who haven't already tried it on PC, it sounds like enough issues have been ironed out I'd expect you'll have far less frustration (though I'd expect casuals will still experience some given the auction house inflation driven by the hardcore profiteering).

The console versions won't have the auction house from what I understand, and instead get better drops. The only way to trade is to drop the item in front of someone else from what I understand. That's fine by me, I didn't want to have to pay for items, and I have always been a SP player anyway.

I may have to pick this one up. Surprisingly I enjoyed the 360 version of Torchlight more than the PC version (mainly because of the controls), hopefully this is handled the same way.

I really want this, but am really torn on what platform to choose - do we know which version will be better?

I would hope characters would at least be -transferrable to their respective next gen counterpart.

Really wish my inferno pc character could be played on console..

From what I read, the PS3 version comes with extra pre-order bonuses. I guess you can decide if that's a good thing, or an ominous sign.

Sooo...the developers stated that Torchlight 2 couldn't be ported to 360 because there wasn't enough memory to run it, but Diablo 3 is fine?

I want my disc-based port of Torchlight 2 so much more than this, but if D3 plays like Torchlight on consoles I'll be interested in getting this from Gamefly for $14.99 next year.

I went back and forth on this for a bit, but decided to wait for the PS4 version.  If anything, I can rent it from Gamefly and see if it's worth it.

Dang!  I pre-ordered the 360 version on Amazon.  I didn't realize the PS3 had the additional in game items.  Some of those are pretty sweet.  If it dropped to $49.99 though, I don't want to cancel and re-order and have to pay full price to switch.

By the way, I noticed that the PS3 content is not a pre-order bonus, but rather a PS3 exclusives. So, it shouldn't even require a pre-order to get those. I'm a bit puzzled by their existence, is this a nod to the fact that a PS4 version (which is supposed to have enhancements) is due to come out? Or, rather a sign of preference for either the PS or Xbox crowd?

I wouldn't worry too much about the extra PS3 stuff.  The non-cosmetic items would only be usable for a small amount of time.  Get it on the system your friends play.

Get it on PS3 or PS4 add me Killer65malibu.... Glad I'm switching over from smash box . Can't believe everyone still supports Microsoft after the crap they tried pulling on E3

Idk. I'm still undecided. I want the PS4 more than the XB1, and I also don't like what MS has said and done during E3 as well as all the flip flopping they have been doing, BUT I like the fact that map packs/DLCs are released exclusively on the Xbox first (for CoD and BF). That's the only thing keeping me from leaning 100% to the PS4 right now...

So I am excited for this since my brother just moved out of state.  He never played on the PC like I did, but he is really wanting this, and it could be nice to pick it up for us both to play together.

im gonna grab this on ps4 when it releases. i was never a pc gamer, but this reminds me of gauntlet.

What's the TRU policy with respect to delivery date relative to release date?  Are we going to be waiting for a few days after the official release date to play if we chose to have this shipped?  TIA for informed replies!  p.s. - Are players engaged in cooperative play ONLINE still stuck on the same screen a la couch coop?  I'd think not but this point seems to have been overlooked (and I'm hoping that has to do with the answer being obvious).

I was wondering about this myself. My fallback is my $10 off order I placed on Amazon, but if I can do $44.99 and just pick it up in store on release day then that is definitely the way to go.
