That amazon mom thing was awesome. Helped me prolong free prime before I bought it. The only thing that didn't work for me was the student prime trial.. :(

Found this in terms and conditions:

"For qualifying purchases, a promotional code of $5 (Promo Code) will be sent by November 15, 2013 to the e-mail address associated with the Amazon.com account used to purchase the GCs."

Hah... I totally missed that. Thought I read earlier that the promo credit would expire 10/31 so assumed it was instant. Thanks for pointing it out to me.
