The Blu-ray app on Xbox already features Atmos support for Preview members. A specific date for gaming audio support on Xbox One and Windows 10 will be revealed in the coming year.
Microsoft also announced that Blu-ray Bitstream pass-through is now rolling out to Xbox Preview members. This new feature, which includes support for Dolby Atmos, "enables all Xbox consoles to pass Blu-ray audio data untouched to a user's audio equipment, allowing your audio receiver or other audio device to produce a high quality, immersive sound experience."
In other Xbox-related news, company exec Phil Spencer just recently revealed that nearly half of all Xbox One owners make use of the console's backwards compatibility feature, which now supports over 300 Xbox 360 games. Alex Osborn is a freelance writer for IGN. You can follow him on Twitter.
