This is how to delete a save file & cloud save.
Hey all,

(Please see the !! section below for a warning before doing this)

If you wish to make a new character and start over, this is how you can do it and still have cloud saves enabled once you're finished.

BACK UP YOUR CHARACTER CREATION DEMO FILES BEFORE DOING THIS (see below)

1. Have the game closed > right click the game in Steam > properties and look for the option to disable cloud saves for now.

2. Go to your Steam folder/userdata/.

3. If you see more then 1 folder, browse the folder. The one you want is the folder with many numbers (these are SteamIDs).

4. Open the folder with number 2054970 (the ID for Dragons Dogma II)

5. Go to remote > delete the folder 'win64 save'.

6. Now start the game (make sure Steam cloud saves are disabled; see step 1).

7. It will prompt you to agree with the end user agreement again and reset your ingame options. Do this and save your changes to options when it asks (just change one of the options to make sure you get the save prompt).

8. At the main menu of the game which should now say 'start new game', ALT+TAB back to the Steam launcher (KEEP THE GAME RUNNING) and re-enable cloud saves (see step 1).

9. ALT+TAB back to the game and close it as normal.

10. Relaunch the game. The game will now mention that there is a conflict between your local save and the cloud save. Upload your local save (the one you just left with the option to start a new game).

!! Now please beware of the following. If you are at a point in the game where you have spawned your pawn into being, be careful that deleting a save like this (or using multiple ones) might give you a 24 hour soft ban that prevents you from uploading your pawn to the server. This is to protect your fellow players from hacked pawns (it checks your pawn data to previous ones on the Capcom servers, discrepancies can cause the 24 hour soft ban). I recommend only using the above method BEFORE the point where you get your created pawn. I DO NOT recommend using this method to have multiple save states. Continuous soft bans can lead to a permanent ban, if it works anything like Dragons Dogma I !!

Edit I: Thanks Sango-Jalin for the update on the character creation demo files. The files to keep are SS1_data000.bin und SS1_data00-1.bin <-- All credits to Shango-Jalin for this update.

Do you know which file in wth win64_save folder is the one for character creation? I would like to make some tweaks to my character but deleting the folder deletes my save from when I was messing around in the creator before release.

you save me 3 hour of struggle bros THANKS

i dont see this number 2054970????? huh i dont get it
a hell of an operation just to create a new character. Clearly a AAAA quality game.
What about the character you created in the demo?
As for characters created in the demo. I'm not sure which file it is, but I do believe both the demo files and the bought game files are in one and the same folder. If you want to ensure your creations are saved, best to back up the entire folder and experiment if need be. Again I urge to read the !! warning !! at the bottom of the post when it comes to save backups.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great , in Game save is bound to your Demo characters save , deleting one deleting both . how the hell Capcom manage to ♥♥♥♥ it up so badly???

This is outrageous. So the point of doing this a because they dont want people to make hacked pawns? I still dont understand why they wont allow new characters. Whats even crazier is that I opted to play OFFLINE. What the ♥♥♥♥ is this ♥♥♥♥
It is beyond comprehension how hostile this setup is to consumers. I distinctly remember that Tetris on the old black and green game(brick)boy gave me the option to restart a new game without have to swipe the creditcard. Having said that, Dragons Dogma II is fun aside from the above.

Elliot, did you manage to find the folder?

Would you know if backing up that folder works as a save backup?

i'd probably do it from time to time to avoid total data corruption at some point, had it happen in the launch of many games before.

If you copy the folder contents in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\*USERID*\2054970 to a separate folder AFTER launching the game but BEFORE starting your character, you can use that folder whenever you want to start over and create a whole new character. Just replace the existing contents in the original directory with those of the backup folder..

Doing that skips the initial launch where you're presented with terms and calibrations, and doesn't require you to be online either so it shouldn't risk registering as a new device by Denuvo.

I did this and my friends are now seeing 2 pawns on my name, both pawns have different pawn IDs, will the old pawn get deleted once the server detects the inconsistency?
