No option to choose DX11 instead of DX12
Hey! Game launches in DX12 mode by default (I have GTX 970) and there is no option to change to DX11. I've tried "-dx11" launch parameters in both Steam and desktop shortcut from "Control.exe", as well launching the game as admin but nothing works. In config files there is no option to change DirectX version either. As far as I know, Epic Games Store release of this game features "Control_DX11.exe" and "Control_DX12.exe" so it seems to be an issue with Steam release. DX12 has some texture streaming issues, seems to be less stable, more demanding and some overlays don't seem to work, that's the reason why I'm trying to switch to DX11 mode. Please help :praisesun:

UPDATE: I received the following information from 505 Support.

"Thank you for your reply and for bringing this to our attention.
As mentioned before, every version of Control should support DirectX 11. Thanks to your report, we have escalated this issue internally and we are currently looking into it."

"A DirectX 11 executable will be added to the build, but it's currently being tested. You should see an update for it next week."

I guess we just have to wait for any official info or a patch, good that they are investigating the issue.

UPDATE2: The patch that enables DX11 support is live, problem solved

It appears like 505 Games for some reason 'castrated' the Steam version by removing the DX11 version and forcing DX12 or nothing.
But in min. requirements it still mentions W7 64 support. This looks like wrong advertisement to me. I can just guess that this mess might have something to do with the swap from the 'classic Control' game to the 'Control Ultimate Edition' which was badly timed.
the game clearly misses a bunch of files which are necessary for the older choice between the DX versions.
I hope 505 Games reads the Steam forums and comes up with a reply, resp. a fix.

Thought so too, might be the because of the split to Standard and Ultimate Edition, I hope it will get fixed after they sort it out.

I hope so as well as not everybody can find and/or afford these days hardware needed for the DX12 version to the fullest extent.
Let's wait and see for a response from 505 Games.

What the actual ♥♥♥♥ are you talking about?

The DX11 executable is still in the game folder where it has always been and still works fine.

I own the version from Humble Choice which is Standard Edition still labeled as Ultimate Edition. I verified the game files too. The only executable in game folder is "Control.exe" which is DX12.

Seems more like they screwed up which files they uploaded than some kind of intentional choice.

Yeah it's possible that 505 screwed up with this edition, everything seemed rushed in general and not implemented correctly. They gotta fix it asap even if it means having to redownload the whole game.

It's just this Steam release, game has been out on PC since the beginning and working properly after few patches

It's still a console port just like every other triple A game. All of them are.

It released on the same day on PC and consoles. Yes, multiplatform games are made with console hardware in mind so consoles are the base for the game. Devs don't want to redo the game for PC and don't want there to be a huge graphical gap between the platforms so naturally the PC release is "scaled down" to what consoles can handle (in terms of image complexity as resolution and framerate is usually unlocked)

It's one thing to greedily remove the DLC from Humble Choice.

It's another to break the base game in order to do it. This needs to be fixed immediately.

Greedily remove DLC from Humble Choice? It was never there in the first place, it was never stated that Ultimate Edition with both DLCs will be included. I agree with the 2nd part tho

Remove is the wrong verb I guess. Greedily refuse to include the DLC in Humble Choice would be more accurate.

Making the game dx12 only in the resulting confusion is unacceptable.
