Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
By Lukyz
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow is the second game in the Splinter Cell series which was unfortunately never released on Steam thanks to incompatibility with newer graphic drivers and Ubisoft never bothered to update the game.

Fortunately we are proud members of glorious PC maser race with awesome community which can do work for the developers!

I'll will try to describe how to make this game enjoyable on modern machines but most of this post will be just copied information which I gathered throughout numerous forums and paste it here together on one place.

If you like this guide or find it anyhow useful, please take a second to rate it or write me a feedback. THX!

Step #1 will be of course getting the game which can be little tricky but this is what you must do by yourself...

Annoying menu
To get rid of that annoying Singleplayer / Multiplayer menu when starting or quitting the game, just rename or delete pandora.exe in your game root folder.

To start singleplayer directly just launch game trough splintercell2.exe in your \offline\system directory. Make a shortcut or add as non-Steam game to Steam.
Resolution & FOV

Widescreen resolution

To use widescreen resolution with correct HUD scaling, just visit Widescreen Fixes[thirteenag.github.io] web page and download the file for Pandora Tomorrow and extract files to your game folder.

Then in folder \offline\system\scripts you'll have to open SplinterCellPandoraTomorrow.WidescreenFix.ini and edit ResX and ResY to your required resolution.

For example, FHD resolution should look like this:

ResX = 1920
ResY = 1080

Save the file a start the game, voilá.

You can change other useful parameters in the INI file - 1 = ON / 0 = OFF

FMVWidescreenMode = 1 // Cutscenes and movies will be fullscreen.
HudWidescreenMode = 1 // Makes certain hud elements offset to screen edges.
OpsatWidescreenMode = 1 // Makes opsat overlay widescreen by stretching it's center part.

I recommend these to turn on, but it's about personal preference so choice is yours.

Older more complicated way but I will let it here just for chance somebody needs it:
Changing resolution in Pandora Tomorrow is little bit tricky in comparison with his predecessor and we will need HEX editor[mh-nexus.de] but if you plan to using 1920x1080 I got you covered!
Just download THESE[drive.google.com] files and extract them to your SC:PT installation directory.

If you want different resolutions, just follow these steps:
  1. Start the game and set your desired graphics settings and 1600x1200 resolution
  2. Navigate to installation directory then \offline\system
  3. Open core.dll with a hex editor
  4. Find string 74 5A 81 BD 98 F1 FF FF 40 06 00 00 75 0C 81 BD 9C F1 FF FF B0 04 00 00
  5. Change the blocks of bytes in bold, according to "Formatted Value" column here[drive.google.cohttp]
  6. Save the changes
  7. Open SplinterCell2.ini (same folder) with a text editor
  8. Put your desired resolution in the following fields
    WindowedViewportX=
    WindowedViewportY=
  9. Save the changes
  10. Open <path-to-game>\Pandora.ini with a text editor
  11. Put your desired resolution in the following entries
    WindowedViewportX=
    WindowedViewportY=
  12. Save the changes
Field of view (FOV)
  1. Navigate to installation directory then \offline\system
  2. Open SplinterCell2User.ini with a text editor.
  3. Find [Engine.PlayerController] section.
  4. Adjust both values depending on your aspect ratio
    DesiredFOV=
    DefaultFOV=
  5. Save the changes

91.3154482287 is advised for 16:9 displays and 85.2812718522 for 16:10 ones
Lighting & shadows fix
This is most important step because as I said game was never digitally published thanks to glitch which caused there was no dynamic lights and shadows so game was totally unplayable and Ubisoft as always care about their customers and never do a thing about it...

So eleven years after release came a man named Jiří Dvořák and created fix for this issue!

You can (MUST) download it here [www.jiri-dvorak.cz].

Just drop the dll file to your offline/sytem/ directory and voilà - dynamic lighting and shadows!
Anti-Aliasing & HD Textures
Anti-Aliasing

There are 3 options that I'm aware of when comes to AA

  • Downsampling - use the instructions above to set resolution for example to 3840 × 2160
  • FXAA - use your graphics card drivers or Nvidia Inspector and force FXAA for SC2.exe
  • Nvidia Inspector - force AA of your choice for example:
    1. Download and run Nvidia Inspector[www.guru3d.com].
    2. Right-click Show Overclocking and select Driver Profile Settings.
    3. Select the Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow profile.
    4. Change Antialiasing compatibility to 0x08000040
    5. Change Antialiasing - Behavior Flags to None.
    6. Change Antialiasing - Mode to Override.
    7. Change Antialiasing - Setting to 8x Multisampling or your desired setting.
    8. Change Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling to 8x Sparse Grid Supersampling (optional)
    9. Click Apply changes.

HD Textures from PS3 version

Some awesome fella which name I was unable to find, extracted textures from PS3 Splinter Cell Trilogy HD release so we can use it!

In my opinion are those textures too sharp and kind of cartoonish so I stick with original but choice is yours and you can download them here[community.pcgamingwiki.com]

Although in higher resolution, the HD textures often look bland (especially wood), so installing the pack is not necessarily an improvement. HUD textures are completely different from the original and original ads have been removed

Left picture is original, on the right is with PS3 HD textures.
Credits
I would like to thank to PC gaming Wiki [pcgamingwiki.com], Jiří Novák[www.jiri-dvorak.cz] for his superb fix of lighting and everyone from community which makes PC gaming so great!

I hope someone finds this guide useful and please, let's pretend that Blacklist never happened...

Thanks and keep gaming!

I encountered a bug in the first mission after shooting the light and knocking out the guard. There's a tip telling you to turn on your thermal vision goggles. When I turn them on the game crashes, any fix to this?

Ok guys to clear this up: My answer "Sadly, legally nowhere" was to question about digital copy.
You can get physical copy of the game via Amazon, eBay etc.
