Buy Gundam Breaker 3 Instead
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this game because I really enjoy the Gundam Breaker series and I am a fan of the Gundam series and models. Picked it up and could not be more disappointed. The game itself starts out with little to no explanation of controls just movement and here is how to attack. Does not cover how to do lock ons or how to use your special moves. I got through my first few battles fine but it left me feeling like how did we win when I was being bashed around in a corner due to crappy controls. Added to the fact I had to figure out for myself how to go about customizing my gunpla on my own which had me pretty irritated. The game runs like a early 90's PC game slow and hard to get everything under control. I want to hope it will get better with updates or progression but it sadly does not compare to the older games. If you want a good smooth game get Gundam Breaker 3 and enjoy fluid combat. Or try to Give this a chance and hope it gets better like I'm trying to do but cringing at every turn. This just felt like a cash grab to me.

It's okay if you like Gundam...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was super cheap... even though the digital only version was still full price this disc version was super cheap and it's even cheaper at the time of me writing this review. Worth a shot for Gundam fans, but nothing special.

Gundam Breaker 3 is better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The latest installment of Gundam Breaker is a massive disappointment for veterans of the series. The new direction of the franchise does away with many of the core elements that used to be present in older installments, such as being able to master EX Skills, as well as being able to upgrade individual parts. Instead, players are forced to run around the already hectic battlefield in order to pick up power-ups in order to re-unlock ex skills for every battle. In all likelihood, the decision to remove part upgradability was made in order to force players to use the in-battle part-swap system, which is nifty in concept, but ultimately defeats the purpose of building a personal custom mobile suit -- what's the point of choosing custom parts if they're just going to be blown off within minutes of starting a level? More unforgivable than the poor design choices, however, is that absolute travesty of performance of the game. Even on my PS4 Pro, the game will lock up often for around 5 seconds, before resuming, which massively interrupts the flow of battle. A bug of this degree is absolutely unforgivable and should have been worked out before launch. All in all, New Gundam Breaker is a disappointing first-exposure of the Breaker series. If you can find it, import Gundam Breaker 3 with English subtitles.

Do yourself a favor: Look up "Gundam Breaker 3".
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gundam Breaker 3 is a game that, while subtitled in English, was never released in the west. That is, never released outside of import stores and shops, where I got mine. It was absolutely one of the best games of the musou/loot-and-shoot genres I can ever think of, five stars in virtually every way. Imagine Dynasty Warriors Gundam, but you can create your own customized Gundam with parts you find from looting other bots you shoot down. Now imagine using any number of HUNDREDS of skills at your disposal with those parts. Imagine taking it online. Imagine fielding the Gundam of your dreams, with parts from virtually all the anime, as strong and as cool as you want it to be. That's GB3. Now imagine that, ruined completely, and you have New Gundam Breaker. You can no longer decide what parts your Gundam will have-- you have to scrounge them in the middle of battle, like some sort of homeless robot derelict, and put on whatever you can find. It flies in the face of the "gunpla" concept, i.e. making your very own robot and pitting it against others. They even slowed down the battle speed, made the graphics uglier, tinier, and washed out, and then they added a weird visual novel concept to the game, where you're romancing your school friends. Yeah, the game takes place in a gunpla high school. Cough. Do yourself a favor. Go find Gundam Breaker 3 from an importer. Get that. Play for a hundred hours, like I did. Thank me later.

Okay game that needs a lot of improvements
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.New Gundam Breaker is a fun game, but it launched with a lot of technical issues like freezing for a few seconds at least once during every battle and it's common to lose connection during an online mission despite the PS4 remaining connected to the internet. It's fun collecting and building your own mobile suit, there's a lot of customization one can do to truly make something unique. I've heard that Gundam Breaker 3 is superior though and I might get around to trying that out.

A tad disappointing.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really excited about New Gundam Breaker, seeing as though the states have really never received an action hack n slash Gundam game since the last Dynasty Warriors: Gundam game, which was digital only. Although a lot of things about the game are neat, the repetitive gameplay, and the emphasis on a fairly poor story really brings this game down compared to it's contemporary, Gundam Breaker 3.
