This special Vanargand Edition comes with a bold pin inscribed with the Vanargand's ferocious coat of arms, a 12-track soundtrack written by the extremely talented Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Stella Glow), and stunning outer box
In an alternative world based on the European era of industrialization, players will band together with Jutland's elite soldiers, the Vanargand unit, to fight against the merciless Ruzi Empire
Though it bears the name of Valkyria, the Valkyria Revolution eschews the original series' traditional turn-based strategy to replace it with the new hybrid of fast-paced real-time combat and tactical acumen across battlefields
The world of Valkyria Revolution is brought to life by the unique visual style provided by a new graphical engine and vibrant soundtrack composed by the celebrated Yasunori Mitsuda
The powerful drama of the game can be experienced in the original Japanese voice acting with English subtitles or in the brand-new English translation

The Valkyrie Revolution
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Valkyria, the embodiment of death, is returning to the battlefield in Valkyria Revolution, and players will have to do - and sacrifice - whatever is necessary to liberate their homeland. With an engaging story full of political intrigue, a battle system that mixes real-time combat and tactical strategy, a gorgeous visual style, and more, the game will immerse players into the frontlines of a desperate war.

I enjoy this game a lot, however...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I really enjoy this game's characters, the story, the soundtrack, and the boss battles, there's a lot of annoyances here. If any of the following turn you off, you may not enjoy this game: 1. There are TONS of cutscenes, more than actual gameplay, and the cutscenes are split up by a TON of loading screens. I haven't seen this many loading screens in a game since Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. Luckily, this game's a lot better than that one. 2. Gameplay takes a backseat to the story. Personally, I'm a fan of many of the characters, so the story is interesting to me. I'm normally not one for anime, however I am enjoying this. That said, it's too bad that they're so frequent since I'd like to be able to enjoy more of the gameplay if there was more of it. 3. Graphically, I think the game looks pretty nice, however it's still pretty dated with stilted & robotic animations that would be more at home in a PS2 game. This doesn't bother me much since many Japanese games are behind western games in this regard. There's a lot to like here, however there's a lot to dislike too, so just be aware of that before buying.

Shouldn't be compared to the other games
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Starting off, this *is* part of the Valkyria universe but should be seen as a side story and doesn't play the same as previous games, which isn't a bad thing. Visually, it's easy to tell this isn't a native PS4 game. Animations are somewhat stiff at times and aren't completely fluid. Graphics could be better, but this game is also on a portable system, you can tell the engine used is scalable to work on weaker hardware. There is also a major difficulty spike more than half way through the game that almost requires you to have skills and gear maxed out to that point. It can get rather frustrating if you don't like or want to grind. But if you don't mind that and get past the fight easily; the game, story and characters are entertaining enough. The music is also great.

Great Continuation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have played Valkyria Chronicles, you will love this as a continuation of the story...many many years later. It is more of a story and not as much playing, but it is still good to sit down and lose yourself in that story.

Its ok
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to Valkyria Chronicles on PS3 and of course the PS4 remastered, is night and day. But it's still an ok game for the price which was on sale.

Story Driven
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always been a fan of the Valkyria series. As with most of them, this entry is enjoyable however the gameplay seems to get disrupted by the story cutscenes very often. The game looks great, plays well and the story is very well written. Be prepared though to sit through very lengthy cutscenes and load scenes before taking back control if your character.

Good game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've played a few hours so far, and it's a pretty fun game. It has many similar themes and names/locations as Valkyria Chronicles, but plays nothing like those games, and is NOT set in the same world. Has a similar art/painting style as the previous games that looks very nice. I feel like it would have been better as a pure action game: the RPG elements feel a little bolted on. Would recommend for $30 or less.

Interesting tale of betrayal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Revolution spins an intriguing tale of betrayal within the Alt-Europa land where the game is set. A mix of technology and magic fuels the flames of war that serves the backdrop of the story. Beautiful artwork, character design and soundtrack serve to help the story keep flowing. Definitely recommend for those who played the first game back on the PS3.
