Thinking about buying an LG C1 using my GS credit, but realized... this may not be a great idea. lol

So... has anyone ever actually bought a TV from them? How'd it go?

Doing some sleuthing, I found:
- GS offers no warranty on these LG TVs (confirmed via customer support, too...)
- GS does offer a 30-day return 'just in case' of damage
- LG does NOT list GS as an authorized vendor
- LG also doesn't list GS as one of their many known unauthorized vendors
- This basically means that LG would be under no obligation to provide warranty coverage should anything happen in the first year.

So... would you take this gamble, using store credit, and pick up a C1?

Alt. topic: Wha are some electronics or gaming related gambles you've taken? Did they pay off?
Bought a TV from an unauthorized retailer?
Bought a rare console on eBay only to get a box full of bricks?
Chose HD DVD over Blu-ray?

Tell us, Era!

(I asked about this in the Displays OT, but figured it was a 'fun' topic worth branching into its own thread.)

How much store credit do you have? It makes sense to do it if you're trying to cash out and be done with GameStop and it's a lot of store credit. Otherwise, I would wait for Black Friday and shop elsewhere if you can.

LG C1 is already at Black Friday pricing everywhere. No need to wait.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here; are you suggesting LG C1s will be cheaper on actual Black Friday day? Because, I don't think they will. Best Buy is already guaranteeing the current pricing is the lowest Black Friday price and won't be cheaper.

Yes. Kinda. I've beaten 'lowest guaranteed pricing' before.

I've scoured the web looking for deals just to beat that shit lol

Mostly I was joking tho.

I bought an iPod touch from GameStop in Ireland and it never had any sound coming out of it. Like everything worked, but no sound whatsoever, tried with/without headphones, tried resetting it, nothing worked, no sound.

I can only imagine the nightmare if the tv came broken or flawed and then trying to switch it out through GameStop as opposed to a Best Buy or a similar place.

I'm not going to say it won't happen, but given that the sale price seems to be a universal price at the major retailers, this clearly is official pricing set by LG and I just doubt LG is going to lower it again in a few weeks. Any other set maybe, but I think these LG OLED prices are going to be set from official sources. That's not to say unofficial ones might not have lower prices, but I think this is it as far as places like Best Buy, Target, Amazon, etc.

30 day standard return policy should cover that just fine.
In theory.

The actual problem here is that Gamestop doesn't really sell TVs in bulk or anything. Most stores won't have one on hand and attempting to return it would be a game of the store emailing corporate and waiting for any store that DOES have one to send it over to them. This is presumably why they don't offer longer warranties on them, they know they won't have to stock to cover it.

Definitely likely, yeah.

But that's the fun in trying to beat their 'lowest price guarantee' thing!

Alt topic: I bought an Xbox One X at a $100 discount from some obscure website I'd never heard of. Arrived on time and in perfect condition.

On topic: But with the details on the OP I wouldn't buy a TV from GameStop, lol.

I didn't even know GameStop sold TVs...
This.

And to the OP, my gamble was buying used games from Gamefly. I didnt know it was possible, and they were as good as Amazon, coming with working codes.

I've gotten plenty of phones from eBay, all legit. I had a friend get a fake Galaxy S9 from a friend's cousin. If it wasnt for me using apps to see whats really inside the device, she would have never known. All she knew was the phone was really slow.

The ram size was the biggest and easiest give away. More digging revealed it was some phone with a Galaxy S9 custom rom.
