FYI, that all changes in June. Free Games will be tied to your Xbox Live Gold subscription, and unusable without it (like PS+/Netflix).
That's only for Xbox One games.

360 games will be the same as they've always been.

On Xbox 360, the Games with Gold program will work the same as it did before. Games you downloaded for free will remain on your account.12
Why? Because since MS can't compete with PS+ in terms of game selection, they compete in another way, letting it not be subscription dependent.

Now Ultra is coming out. If you have SSFIV: AE, it'll cost $15 to upgrade OR you can just buy the new version for $30. The $30 version also comes with all previous DLCs that are left out of the upgrade.
The DLC is on sale for $3.50 like all the time. You could get Super plus DLC for $11 and get the upgrade when it's cheap. It works out to $18 instead of $15 but you'll have something to play while you're waiting for winter sale or whatever.

I already have it to play on my console though. :p But thanks.

For anyone who bought Blade Kitten and can't stand playing it locked at 30 FPS, it looks like you can go into properties and put the game into open beta mode, which allegedly has 60 FPS support now.

You three should have told me you liked misinformation. Did you know that feline aids is actually communicable with humans?

That's strange because I bought Street Fighter IV on Steam  September 6, 2009.
Shit, you're right. My mistake, forgot vanilla SFIV got ported to Steam, was only thinking of Super.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I imagine you're terribly annoyed that you can't upgrade to SSFIV: AE or Ultra for a discount.

interesting how that stuff differs between pc and console. on the flip side, you can't buy XCOM:Enemy Within as an expansion, it's a standalone game for consoles.

Yup. XCOM: Enemy Within for consoles though, is the same as XCOM Complete for PC because it includes Enemy Unknown and all the DLC.

It''s a $40 retail release too, so I'd say it's a better deal aside from you know, being on consoles.

It's why I was kinda befuddled that XCOM Complete has a $50 MSRP.

that's true, though i'm guessing people that wanted Enemy Within already had Enemy Unknown, so for console gamers they had to buy the same game twice.

as for fighting games, the scene is mainly on consoles. so if you really wanna play it on pc, i'm guessing the multiplayer isn't as lively/competitive.

care to share some of your impressions with us?
I don't know, I haven't played enough story missions, I've been mostly just doing random side activities and stuff. And I haven't settled on some good graphics settings so I can't give an opinion on how it runs. It seems impossible to get solid 60 for me. The main character is very dull and generic, but the world and the amount of shit to do in it is great. I have no regrets spending $22 on it, got a key from the trade thread.

You sure you're not trying to rationalize being a #FakeCAG? :p
Paying $22 on day 1 for a $60 game is true cag, bro.

Codes have been relatively cheap in the steam trading area, so I would say paying $25 for a new release is pretty CAG.
Paying $25 for any game is pretty unCAG.

Yeah, I only had to play one story mission (the ONLY story mission that was accessible in the beta version I played) to realize how dull Aiden is. Hell, his voice actor sucks.

Now throw out the voice actor and replace him with Kiefer Sutherland? The game would instantly be 24 times better.

I wanted to get the Sniper Elite VIII Collector's Edition, but it is only available for "next" gen consoles.  Even the base game I can only find on consoles and haven't found anything about it coming to PC.  That would suck if it is not released on PC.

Well, I did it. I held off on buying the unoptimized Watch Dogs for PC or PS4. I just couldn't do it. I wanted to but the inner CAG dragged me back to sanity with the fiery whip of cheapness. After beta testing all of the multiplayer game types and actually liking a few of them I could see it as a game I'll probably pick up at some point. Although, since not much is coming out until the Fall perhaps I'll pick it up around the upcoming Steam sale during the doldrums of summer.

I just picked up Diablo III a few weeks ago from that Target sale and have yet to even start that. I'm going into D3 as a complete novice but I'm looking forward to it.

I'm kind of intimidated to even take the plunge, because I can get pretty fixated with some games fairly easily when they're good. Then it's down the rabbit hole I go. I'd like to think I have more self restraint, but one can never be too certain about anything these days.

We have a clan, "BGCQ" in British English. Or just poke me on CAG/Steam.

Hey, I was mistaken, happens to the best of us. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if Microsoft drops the free monthly 360 games at some point to upsell Xbox Live Gold on the X1, once enough subscribers are familiar with the program. It seems silly that the policy changes between devices and it's not like Microsoft hasn't dropped support for services with little prior warning.

No worries, I wasn't making fun of you, I was making fun of the people who liked your post.

I'm sure they'll phase it out eventually, but for the moment it works to pull revenue in for last gen's system by handing out old games. Probably is working great for Microsoft, since the offerings are getting better.

Yes, because I'm clearly the most knowledgeable console peasant sporting the latest and greatest PS2 slim.

New Groupees Spotlight:

RADICAL HEROES : CRIMSON CITY CRISIS (Greenlight)

A buck gets you the game. Ten bucks gets you the game. A million bucks gets you the game. No bonuses or tiers or jpegs or mystery games or soundtracks or horse armor or dick pics or cheat codes or your name in the credits or citizenship is what I am trying to say.

Just what the indie game market has been missing lately. Giant pixels.

So apparently I missed these earlier, posting for posterity:

Midweek Madness
XCOM Complete - $49.99 $24.99

[/customspoiler]
I know it's probably worth the price of admission, but I can't bring myself to bite on this seeing as both Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within were $10 each lately.

Gonna hold out for 75% off. Unless they put it on sale on GMG or something.

Whoops, my bad.

S'okay. I'm just not always wrong? :p Being a console peasant refugee, knowing stuff like that is my business.

The shift for 360 games would surprise me. Like I said, the way that MS competes with PS+ on PS3, with GWG for 360 is by not having them be sub-dependent. This gives them a little leeway from subscribers with the titles they offer.

I could go into a large explanation why PS+ can afford the selection it does, while XBL Gold can't, but basically, the majority of your sub with PS+ goes towards securing games (at least for PS3 only users), XBL Gold has some costs that are associated with servers and such (which is why the GameSpy shutdown isn't making 99% of 360 game lose MP). Now that PS+ is required for PS4 MP, I imagine some of the cost of PS+ is spent on server stuff, which is why the selection's been a bit poorer lately from what I've noticed.

They can definitely afford for GWG to be better though, but not as good as PS+. It just won't happen based on the nature of the different subs.

Not really. I bought Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on Steam in 2012 for $9.99.
I'm impressed by your loyalty. Big SF fan?

This was in Debut 13, iirc. Just a heads-up.

I see no evidence of bonuses. What is up with that? Is this all Russia has to offer?
I assume that you mean besides Yakov Smirnoff, glasnost, shirtless PMs riding horses and making multibillion-dollar deals with American oil companies to exploit their fossil fuel reserves. In which case, the answer is this:

and this:
