That being said, it's not worth $4.89.  Wait for PS+.

I got 8/12 trophies in about 3 hours and got to level 8, didn't feel like grinding to 10 for one more Silver.  There are a few missions I didn't do but that was with the different plane parts that I didn't care for as much.  Holding R made things somewhat better so thanks for that tip whoever.  Still, it's a pretty average game.  Would be a decent PS+ freebie but I definitely regret spending money on it.  Major disappointment.

Where's the blog post about your return to this forum/E3 thoughts?

fuck you, I was just going to post "Tyler, where the hell is the blog about your E3 thoughts?"
E3 blog probably tomorrow. I thought about writing it today around 3:30 but it was too close to the end of my work day to start up. It depends on how much I have to do tomorrow and Friday but hopefully I'll get something up before the weekend.

No ban/return blog gonna happen.

Need more time at work to write blogs about video games. Wtf do you do?

Jesus Christ. This thread was just highjacked by Tyler, Stotch and SJD. Things are finally feeling like they are back to normal. Where is Wrencrest to defend something Jay said and Frisky making someone feel stupid? I need normalcy people.

Never said I hated it. Said I liked it but it would have been much better with a better control scheme.
I only remembered seeing you bitch about it constantly for the past day or so:

Um, Luftrausers controls terribly. Thanks for the warning guys......
Full Reject. I don't want to push up to go left and right.

Wish this was Google Play. It gives you 15 mins to request a refund.
Luftrausers would be cool if it didn't control so fuck ing stupidly. I doubt I pick it up again after tonight. There's $4.89 I'll never see again. That could have bought me KFC tomorrow.

My fault for thinking I would like a game that Crunchewy likes.
EDIT: Why do my missions keep changing? I had "Kill 3 ships while having no damage" so I've been working on that and I know I haven't gotten it yet. But now it's not on my mission list anymore. WTF? Is it because I'm changing parts on my plane? K, yes it is.
I'll apologize for not seeing later posts, but I won't apologize for the trolling attempt.

Wow, I don't think I can go back to NintendoGAF NeoGAF until E3 is over.  You'd think Nintendo introduced a cure for cancer over these last 3 days.

Every time I hear Nintendo announce "new" games, I cringe. Deep inside, my first gaming experience was with Blue and I would swear that I'd bang the Nintendo drum everafter, but it didn't happen. I think the huge disparity between PS2 and Gamecube made me realize the different visions of Sony and Nintendo (RE4 being a huge standout though).

It's "Son of Scorgasm". Not "Song"
Yeah, I know. Goofy typo in whoever's list that was.

Ugh, just nuked a Blimp and it didn't die. C'mon! I want to be done with this game.
You probably got it from bitching on the thread, but the blimp is easy. Use a laser, or just knock it down a peg before you die/nuke.

To anyone reading, Tyler is wrong about this game. It's arcade heaven -- sure, nobody is guaranteed to like anything/everything, but if you dig arcade games you'll likely dig this. Controls are spot on, assuming you don't have two left hands or something. (speaking as a contender for world high score - almost there, but i've been spending more time chasing challenges than score so far).

It really makes me sad seeing someone so vocally dissuading others from supporting gems like this. $5 is a steal. Support these devs, they deserve it, and the game is excellent. I'd burn more than $5 in the arcade on it in one session back in the day.

Man, there's hardly anything more satisfying than going for one "easy" trophy (Beat Arcade Mode with Nemesis) and unintentionally getting the hardest trophy in a game (1CC). My hands are still a bit shaky both from that and from beating Arcade Mode on Veteran. :joystick: I just need to beat the game with Phobos and rescue the rest of the humans for the plat now.

bestkeeper14, if no one else offers to co-op with you for the 1CC trophy, I'm still willing to help you out, though it'd have to be next week.

Everything about this comment is bizarre. Not that the 3ds isn't wonderful, but it's a bit unusual for people to play a vita and then think better of their 3ds. And I don't think I've ever heard someone call the vita browser 'really nice', I feel like I'm paying it a compliment by calling it 'functional'.
My problem is that the system makes everything that should be intuitive awkward. You want to transfer data from a PC to a 3DS? Take out the SD card, pop it in your computer. That's it. Want to transfer data from a PC to your Vita? Download a program, directly connect the Vita to your PC, start the program on both systems, howl because it only lets you use certain folders on your PC. Hugely annoying. A lot of stuff is weird about this thing. Near has never worked for me, and neither has Maps. Programs I've quit seem to run in the background anyway; how do I turn them off-off? Maybe I just need to learn the ropes, but the 3DS is just more user-friendly. And the notion that it's a console quality experience on the go is hugely dubious. I played Mortal Kombat so far, and while the gameplay is reaponsive and altogether enjoyable, the graphics have taken a noticeable hit from the console versions. Textures aren't as convincing and polygons are more obvious; not necessarily boxy but you do see edges in close-ups.

I guess it doesn't matter as long as I can get Darkstalkers. The screen is very nice and that great D-pad will make Chaos Tower a lot more fun than it was on the PSP. Still, it's a little disappointing so far. Sony wrote a check its butt can't cash with this thing. The 3DS is more humble technologically but it's also more fun to use, and when it's capable of something like Kid Icarus the tech gap doesn't seem that wide.

Also, I think the browser is fine. I heard horror stories but it's the best I've used on a portable game system. That's the only part of the Vita that's exceeded my expectations.

Fortunately reloading my GoW save popped the Cheetos this time. Do not know that I would have played it 3.5 times for the plat, 2.5 was more than enough.

I don't understand the issue. You can connect wirelessly or via a cable. I don't see how that's any more difficult (in fact, i think it's much easier) than having to pop a card back and forth.

The folders locations can be changed in settings.

A lot of stuff is weird about this thing. Near has never worked for me, and neither has Maps. Programs I've quit seem to run in the background anyway; how do I turn them off-off?
Well, first, you don't need to. You can generally have several apps (friends, messages, etc) open in the background. if the vita needs to, it'll autoclose those types of 'minor' apps if you haven't used it in a long time.

If it really needs memory (say, a really large webpage) it'll ask you if it can close something. But in general it's meant to run several of the apps in the background while you have a game open (ie, trophies, a webpage for a guide, and your messages).

If you're ocd and really want to close something, just swipe it closed (from the tab in the right, swipe to far corner, it only requires a tiny quick touch, you don't actually need to go from corner to corner, only like half an inch or less)

As for near, if you give it awhile to update it should work. That said, there's really no reason to. I guess some games give gifts, but generally it's not that important.

Maybe I just need to learn the ropes, but the 3DS is just more user-friendly.
Owning both, I'd say the opposite. I can't stand the 3ds interface. But this is most likely because we both 'like what we're used to'... that said, the vita user interface felt natural to me coming from a sony background, i don't know what half the stuff on my 3ds even does.

And the notion that it's a console quality experience on the go is hugely dubious. Killzone Mercs is a beaut, though. I think some take that 'console experience' thing too literally... to me, a little bit of jaggies or whatever isn't the point, it's that you've got (the potential for) a dual stick 'console style' experience as opposed to the handheld 'ports' of yesteryear. Uncharted felt like an uncharted game (granted, they shoved in too many gimmicks). Killzone is awesome. Etc.

that said, i don't think we'll be seeing many on the vita anyway; it's a better fit for arcade games, jrpgs, and other handheld genres.

See, again, coming from the other direction (vita to 3ds) i dread turning my 3ds on. To me it's clunky and odd and has a crap battery. I need to turn off the 3d, which takes away a main feature. And I don't like the library as much, but i've got no attachment to ninty properties and would much rather be playing wipeout, pinball arcade, txk, psp jrpgs, etc.

I'm not trying to hate on the 3ds -- I know people love it, including yourself. I'm just trying to point out that jumping from on to the other always feels 'odd'. like switching from mac to pc or ios to andriod. We get used to certain things being a certain way and other methods feel odd.

I got piles of arcade shooters to play that include more than one level, though.
It's a score attack game. And it has sort of got 2 levels. I've put... 30+ hours into that endless level. probably 50+. not for trophies, just for fun, like i do pinball arcade, stardust, txk, and a couple others.

I think I'm just taking issue with how quick and fast people are to tear down the work of others. Books, games, films... these can take years of someones life, but only take a minute to shit all over. And sure, some things deserve it. Monster Monpiece has a phoned-in shit plot (but solid card mechanics).

But Luftrausers? I can understand not liking a game that uses thrust/freefall... but it's a dogfighter, for fuck's sake. And if you're into the genre, it plays and controls beautifully.

I don't like Spelunky. I don't like how it controls... because i don't like how platformers control in general. But i know, as a platformer, it's got precise controls because I've seen masters play on youtube. So if it went on sale, I wouldn't spend a day posting how it controls badly, because... well, it's just a shitty thing to do to a developer of a beloved game. I know that even though i don't like it, a good portion of those who decide to pick it up will. That's good for gamers and devs.

I realize the internet can be a negative place. I just think it's worth taking a second to remember game developers depend on us gamers. Shit on games that deserve it, like Alien Colonial Marines, or F2P grindfests, etc. It's a fine line, obviously, and I'm not saying people shouldn't critique games.

Obviously not everyone will like a game like luftrausers. People will dislike TLOU, RDR, Wipeout, Zelda. But there's a difference between disliking a game and... I don't know... crapping on it online. We're a small community. Our opinions can affect others. Take some care, have a heart.

And I don't mean to be criticizing you, tyler... it just so happens luffrausers is one of my favorite games, and it really, truly, saddens me to see someone post all day about how it controls badly when that's not the case, because I feel like that not only hurts the developer, but people who were on the verge of buying but are influenced not to, even though they might have loved it. Vlambeer did a great job with it, and we're one of the few vita communities online... we should be supporting games like these, even if they're not totally our thing (like Spelunky, which isn't mine).

Or something. Whatever. It's late.
