GOG Deals Thread

wow - $36 for Witcher 3?!  How?

I have been messing around with Erica Reed some more...  Couple more things of note.
TURN OFF THE SOUND.  If you click to speed up the text, the text will speed up, but the voices still stay on script.

But man, this story is neat.  There is no attempt at all to be kid friendly.  Yowzers.

Also, I have these left over from the sale... guys asked for them, but did not end up wanting them.
URU the complete Chronicles, and Race the Sun...

I will trade or sell.

There will probably be some way to redeem a Steam key/copy for a 'GOG backup' like they did with the prior games.
Yeah, I know they'll probably do this eventually, but I guess the question I have is whether latecomers will get the pre-order goods.

Kinda tempted to buy The Dracula Trilogy at $1.99 since I got 4+5 from that IG bundle, but I have less than 10 minutes to decide. . .

These Flash sales end in about 30 minutes:

I keep passing on Clive Barker's Undying so maybe I will pick it up this time around.

Anyone play(ed) Corsair's Gold? I like pirate stuff but the first review says to pass on this one and just play Pirates! Gold or the Port Royale series.

Constant stream of aggressive sales.  Even I can't complain about that.  Hope this is a sign of things to come next week with the Steam sale.  I notice stuff like Sir, You Are Being Hunted are at the best price ever (though it doesn't come with a Steam key here).

It doesn't specify just how long the sale is going to last in the sale announcement over on GOG. But if this sale is anything like their previous big seasonal sales, it'll probably last a few weeks. Given how many games that they're moving through in such a short period of time with the flash sale, it's almost certain that these games will get a 2nd, and probably a 3rd appearance as flash deals.

Ah, I want Tesla, but I am not paying $15 for it...

What about Corsairs?  I like Pirate games...  but I don't like sandbox games.  Is there a story to follow?
I Have No Mouth...  Ohhh...  I have always wanted that game.  Thoughts?

Considering Master of Magic and Wizardy 8.

I see that Total Annihilation Commander Pack is coming up.  Better or worse than Kingdoms?

Better Kingdoms is a slog IMHO. Seemed too simple when I played it quite a few years ago...but anyway if you want to try out Kingdoms is open source now.

I want the new re-imagined Leisure Suit Larry...but will likely wait for the Steam sale..cause...achievements....

We really need people to tell us if the new games are worth it or not...

I am going to get Have No Mouth...

The others - I have Eador Genesis...  But the Masters of the Broken World is the same thing, but new graphics.
Don't Starve, Machinurm,  - I think everyone knows about those by now.

Any other recommendations from this group?

I reeeeally like the new Eador... I have like 100 hours in it. The battles, unit variety, tactical/management side of things, etc, all just really awesome. There's no game of the genre that has that awesome feeling of exploration, finding new pieces of equipment for your heroes, running into new enemies, taking on quests, etc. Just a really cool game.

Unfortunately the wild difficulty swings turned me off of it after awhile. It's usually too easy or too hard. I'll go to one world with exactly the same difficulty level and the computer will somehow have an impossibly difficult army almost immediately, and you're screwed. Or you'll fumble around for an hour and come across your opponent, who's still pathetically weak. It's odd.

Still, it's worth playing if you're a fan of that HoMM+Civilization feel. I still love the game.

Catching up on this thread today has been equivalent to couple weeks of HB-induced depression all at once. ...except here it's due to missing out on things.

Ugh, another Trial of Strength today? I keep resisting this (have most of it from GG)... but it eats at the edges of my consciousness.

There is a new DLC available now too that may or may not interest those who enjoy Eador MotBW. My version is on Steam so I will wait for a sale there.

Allied Forces

fuck .

Seriously, I decide to actually sleep for a change and I miss the one thing I've been waiting on from GOG for the last year—Jade Empire at 75%+ off.

This stupid "we're not going to announce our major sales until they actually happen" trend seriously needs to stop. :wall:

This is an awesome sale.   More of my 75% off or better games have been hitting 80% off.

Sanitarium is bought.

Edit:

Anyone play Anvil of Dawn?

I have Expeditions - It is a fun game.  Enjoyed the story, enjoyed the turn based combat.  Squad based.

Kids loved Back to the Future game.

Tales of Monkey Island -  I have not played...  Thoughts?

I was looking at Sanitarium. What sold you on the game?

Can't help on AoD. The graphics turned me off but most of the reviews seemed positive. I did buy Master of Magic though so I have no idea why the AoD graphics bother me. Maybe MoM picked prettier shots to entice me. I'm shallow like that.

These are excellent prices....I would like the newer games on Steam but still on the lookout for a few good old games.

Sanitarium is an excellent game. Really unorthodox adventure game...creepy atmosphere...kind of weird puzzles. Good game overall for what I played (about 3 chapters I guess).

I'm usually the same way with the graphics, if they look dated it is hard for me to get interested. AoD just sort of looks like Legend of Grimrock and I know that game has a lot of praise.

For Sanitarium it just sort of looks cool and I'm a sucker for anything with a creepy/horror atmosphere.

Good to hear about Sanitarium. And yes, the older games are best on GOG, newer games I prefer Steam keys. I've already bought two games this sale and am keeping myself from impulse buying too. This sale was perfectly timed right before the steam sale.
