GOG Deals Thread

Bah... I wanted Street Fighter Alpha 2, but it looks pretty awful. Alpha 3 is a much better game, looks better, massive selection of characters, etc. I thought Alpha 2 was more modern than it is.

Also, no Xbox 360 controller support, no easy way to play online, etc. The reviews are basically calling it a dated and bad port. Oh well, that saves me $2.

Aarklash looks awesome, but it's on Steam and has hit this price before, so eh.

Aarklash looks like my next maybe to play fantasy game. I've waited long enough for the Steam sale...if it goes for a decent sale there (around 5-6 bucks) it will be a buy for me.

Bloodrayne's back up for anybody who might be looking for it. I know a couple people mentioned grabbing one or the other, though I'm not sure which.

I've had it on my Steam wishlist since it released and it has yet to drop to the close to $5 buy point for me. So, I bought it in the last Insomnia Sale for $5.24

(I'll still probably get it on Steam as well.)

Just bought Bloodrayne 1.

I'll be off to work soon.

Bloodrayne 2 needs to show-up when I get home from work tonight, since I won't be likely able to access a PC until then. :D

EDIT:

Off to work.

See y'all tonight.

Does gifting still work where if you own the whole pack you can gift part of it to someone at the lower bundle price? I want the old Raymans at 75% off but I don't need Origins. Of course that means I'd have to find someone that owns all of them on GOG and is willing to gift them to me for Paypal money.

Meh, too much hassle. I think I'll just take a stroll to a certain inlet where privateers reside if I end up wanting to play them.

I was considering that too. I'm in the same position, I want Rayman 2 & 3 on GOG, but not Origins.

I don't have the full bundle so I can't confirm it, but I bet The End probably can.

I know in the past I was able to gift Gilby part of the D&D bundle at the lowest price because I owned the whole thing but I don't know if they fixed that loophole.

Yay, grabbed Indigo Prophecy.

Edit: Weird, Master of Orion 1+2 seems to be on a stealth flash for $1.49 (75%).

I'm pretty sure yes. I think Neuro helped someone with the the NWNs out of the D&D pack the other day.

Does the cart trick still work?  I put Master of Orion 1 + 2 in mine while I decide if I can handle those ancient graphics.

FOX - did you get Carmageddon yet?  The Max Pack is "coming soon".

Hmm, will likely purchase the Eschalon games. I liked what I played of Book 1 & 2. Although I am concerned by the poorer reviews for Book III, which is the main reason I didn't purchase it at full price.

Also, how much should I expect the upcoming Age of Wonders III Deluxe Edition flash sale to cost?

Dang Age of Wonders 3 pretty expensive...guess it's to be expected.
I wouldn't say that. I think it is the most recent expensive release they've had in the flash sales so far, but they've done flash sales for more than 50% off similarly priced games only a couple months older than it.

According to the Google Spreadsheet that somebody at the GOG forums is maintaining to track number of appearances, it has not (still at 2); I've only been monitoring today for the last few hours, myself, but I haven't seen it, either.

There are quite a few in that spreadsheet that have appeared three times now, so a reappearance doesn't seem unlikely.

Hey guys, should I get Bard's tale on GOG now, or wait for Steam? I just saw the trailer, and it seems really funny.
You should be able to find it in the trade thread, a Steam key...for cheaper than what GOG is selling it for. Its been bundled before. I suppose if you want to overpay for DRM free....then GOG is the way to go

If you can't find one...or don't want to bother looking through the trade thread cess pool I can part with a steam key for a dollar.

Up to you on how much Steam count +1 is worth to you versus grabbing and playing it now. I've never played it myself, but I've heard good things, especially re:funny. In terms of what's included with either version, it looks like GOG has a soundtrack, Steam doesn't. There's also a few other things included in the GOG bonuses, but I'm not sure any of those are the least bit impressive.

For reference, according to ITAD, this is the cheapest it's been anywhere thus far. (Though I know it's been $0.99, and maybe even free, on the iOS App Store, which is supposedly the exact same game, albeit with touch controls.)

Ok, thanks, stuff on ios goes free all the time, so it will probably be free again and I'll pick it up.

Edit: I am SO GLAD you pointed out ios, I have it already.

They aren't, but the soundtrack is awesome.

I'm tempted to buy the Bloodrayne games, because I'm too afraid to open my Bloodrayne movie DVDs with the free games inside.

Deadly Premonition coming up soon; I actually didn't even know it was on GOG. Anybody know if the GOG version is less buggy than the versions you can get elsewhere?

Yes a game on GOG that isn't old is definitely less buggy than the exact same version being sold elsewhere. Because that millisecond when it connects to Steam and says 'Hey Steam does Souffrir own this game?' And Steam says 'Why yes, in fact he does!' is the cause of all bugs.

Damn it I KNEW I shouldn't have changed my Steam name to Souffrir!

I don't know. I have it on Steam, not GOG.

Did you check GOG's forums for Deadly Prem?

Remember - Deadly Prem is an old game; and it got a VERY "basic" and VERY lazy port.

Anyways - to stop problems w/ Deadly Prem from crashing every so often, you might wanna screw quite a bit w/ the game's EXE.

Always back-up a copy of your untouched original EXE and rename it a small bit before you modify it - just in case you need to go back to Square 1, at a later date. Anytime you wanna modify an EXE for any game - always a good idea to do this.

Of course - you'll want DSFix. Goes without saying.

If you're on Win 7 64-bit - do the typical "Properties Changing Stuff" of disabling Aero crap (Disable Desktop Comp + Disable Virtual Themes); and also check the box to Run the Game As Admin.

Also, you might wanna use a LAA (Large Address Awareness) program like CFF Explorer to modify the EXE - namely to flag the EXE, modifying it so it'll actually notice over 2GB of RAM.

That all pretty much solved my "crashing every so often" problem.

Or, you know, GOG actually seems to spend some time and effort trying to ensure products they sell work the way they're supposed to. They have that 30 day money back guarantee, and all. Seems like it'd be reasonable to try to keep from having to use it where possible.

I also saw some reviews on GOG claiming that this version was "fixed," which is the main reason I asked.

Something special is coming in... 47:27:15. Stay tuned!
It better not be a free copy of a game that I just bought.

EDIT: Just noticed that they changed the countdown to 24 hours instead of 48 hours.

I imagine it's that "all sales" day that's supposedly happening on the 18th. So far that GOG forum list has been accurate.

Runaway, I have 2 of the games on CD, but I don't have the 3rd.

If I buy the pack, and gift it, will it send me 3 separate codes?  I can take 3 and trade/sell 1 and 2?

Thanks!

If you buy the pack as a gift, you will get a single key that will be good for all three games. And obviously, if you don't do it as a gift, you'd have all three games added to your account.

In your situation, your best play is to find somebody who owns the pack already, and ask them to buy you a gift copy of the third game.

The End - Thanks!  Ah, well I will wait then.

Cheaplike - Yes, I beat 1 and 2....  I played Dream of the Turtle on a Win 7 laptop... that might have made a difference?
