Agreed, when it comes to Steam, the convenience balances out the "freedom" you give up.

I still kinda prefer DRM-free, but after I blew $50 at GOG on the first big sale there, I realized Steam probably had just about the same prices on those titles, but with a lot more options and convenience. I still like getting DRM-free versions from Humble when they come at no extra cost though. :)

Honestly, if you own something on Steam already, and a GOG version of it exists and you want it for convenience, there are cheaper ways to obtain a DRM-free version. The ways may not be ethical, but they're out there.

The worst part about this sale lull is that my wishlist just keeps getting bigger.  I get bored and go exploring.  (the site and people's wishlists) and I find games I didn't know about that look too good to not keep an eye on.

I think those sorts of games push some people's buttons and make others yawn or eyeroll.

While I liked the sort of backwards structure to it, I also felt like it tried too hard and it was a little too cheesy in spots, too PSA in other spots and maybe didn't dwell enough on the point of what is reality anyway, though I suppose that last point is me criticizing it for being notdeepEnuff4u.

For me The Cat Lady really just got to me and did the whole tear jerk thing but I know the horror and gore aspect of that turns people off.

I guess it takes all sorts. Speaking of which.

I bought it during the last Summer Sale and played it immediately, so from my perspective it's well overdue. ;)

Excellent game, by the way. It was worth getting the soundtrack edition in my opinion.

I bought it the day before the summer sale and just finished it, and it was indeed absolutely brilliant.

I had heard of Steam before, but was completely against them since I heard the same stories. Then my favorite game, OOTP was released on steam and we all got free games, so I figured I tried it. Within a month, I had sold my PS3, replaced all of my favorite games, and was still up $200. It is the least intrusive DRM can get, but I do sometimes wonder what happens if Steam stops making sales. Its awesome and all, but it does rely on sales each month at the very least to pay for servers/employees. Have I just joined a prymiad scheme?

And to anyone wondering- yes I'm drunk. These are my random thoughts so if I'm being completely newb about it feel free to rip me haha.

Are you talking about OOTP Baseball 2015? If so how is it? I remember reading about the series a year or 2 ago and it seemed right up my alley but at the time I don't think it was on Steam. It looks like it finally made it onto Steam and I threw it on my wishlist waiting for 75% off.

OOTP is a great game if you are into the GM aspect of sports games. If you sign an awesome player to a 5 year deal, he may disappoint you by getting a PED suspension or insulting fans. If you like projecting a minor league career, just know the guy you think is a 5 star prospect may flame out while the 20th round draft pick is a superstar. Check out the ootp forums for more info, but this game is the best sim you will ever see. 100% realistic.

Markus made an awesome game that doesn't need Steam at all. I would recommend this game to any baseball fans at all, the fact that it made Steam should only help him, but it is the best baseball sim out there.

I play 11 for hours, haven't gotten around to 14 much yet (the only other one I own), but agree it is a great GM game. Easy to get through seasons somewhat quickly (compared to FM), so you can watch players develop or fall apart etc. Oh and I liked how ratings are exactly 100% truthful, had some guys ranked 20/20 manage to hit around .280-.300 before if I recall and little things like that that you don't get as much of in FM. Took a bit to learn everything though.

 
so this ss2 run on sgdq is pretty broken. kinda fascinating how they combine all these glitches/exploits to craft the fastest run possible.

Awesome, I just moved it to the top of my wishlist for the .000000001% chance I'm one of the blue team winners today. As soon as it gets a big discount I'm going to grab it. I've been wanting a good sports sim like this for awhile now. I even picked up Football Manager last time it was 75% off to try and scratch the itch despite knowing nothing about and actually hating soccer lol.

Full disclosure- I joined Steam because of OOTP 15. If you like GM type sports games, it right up your alley. If you're the type that likes to simulate your games in Madden/NBA 2K you will like OOTP 15.

You can adjust the scouting setting so you can 100% accuracy if you want, or fog or war 50% accuracy if you want. That guy that hit .300 in AAA ball might be a AAAA player while that SS that hit .250 in AAA might be a .350 hitter in the MLB.

It's an awesome game, I wish Markus and co. had opted for a bigger discount during the Steam sale. For anyone that likes the GM aspect of games, it is better than anything you can imagine. It's not a game that you would play like MLB the show as the batter, but it is 100% better in predicting the at bats and the percentage of a hit. If you like sims, this is as good as football manager, but for baseball.

 
So I know HItman is old news by this point, but it's turning out to be a good bit better than I thought it would be. Longer too. Part of what I liked about Blood Money and was disappointed that Dishonored didn't have was the varied irregular/accidental assassinations you could do.

I sort of assumed Hitman Absolution would play lip service to these moments but largely be a conventionally modern stealth game, and was pleasantly surprised to find variety mixed throughout the entire game. Even missions without assassination targets have unique objectives (the courtroom was pretty good). 

Some of the levels are still fairly small, and the objectives themselves are pretty simple, but I can't remember the last game outside of Blood Money that even tried. There is even good variety in the level environmental design.

I think I would enjoy Game Dev Tycoon, but it just screams future Humble numbered Bundle to me.  Guess I'll play the waiting game.

I liked Absolution, or what I played of it, as a game itself. I wish a couple of the assassination levels were a bit longer or more varied. Liked they upped the difficulty to more of a SA level, though I thought Contracts was the best balance they had of easy and hard in the series. Wasn't too happy with it as a Hitman game as it just didn't seem like a Hitman game, and would have liked something more like Blood Money but harder.

Blood Money had the best levels though, followed by SA. I don't remember more then maybe one or two levels in Contracts and the remake of the first game levels felt they ended up lacking in comparison to the first (I only got through the Chinatown (?) stuff in the first). The accident system was great too, just needed to be harder =/.

(SA had the same getting seen through disguises by guards, just they were a bit less jumpy about it then they seemed in Absolution. You couldn't stand around them and have them not give a damn like in Blood Money though.)

 
I was playing dat Heavy Bullets, its alot of fun. Its another rougelike fps but with a neon visual style and its pretty tense, it's also published by Devolver Digital, they are the best.
