It's not that bad. I grew up on CRPGs so I can grind with the best of them. I've always been a completionist - I've always wanted max stats/every ending/every item/hardest difficulty/etc. and wanted to get everything I could out of a game, so trophies/chievos complement that pretty well. It's a sickness, though. Maybe born from growing up with limited games, so you get everything out of the ones you have? I'm not really sure.
Limited games might have something to do with it, but I had limited games as a kid and never 100% or "completed" anything with max stats etc. I think I have always had some form of ADD though and I always had a sports game, usually Madden to play with my friends every weekend. If it werent for the internet I wouldnt have one 100% or platinum trophy on my card.

For all the Vita owners here....what is the typical size of a Vita game case? Had a Vita game sell on Amazon last night but I never know how to list the proper ounces on what i sell when I buy the Amazon shipping.

I ship Vita games in small bubble mailers. 6oz w/ packaging.

Very, very light (as pointed out already), but I use a postal scale to weigh my sold items (in the packaging) so I know what to enter in the ounces field. I highly suggest you look into getting one if you frequently sell on Amazon.

How much do those typically sell for? I don't sell on Amazon much but if the price is right I may pick one up.

still waiting for the shop to update... fingers crossed

End of Serenity is a free to play game or dirt cheap. less the 5 bucks  (still say it be 14.99)  already got it on my kindle but cant take kindle online that much (messes it up)  and like to buy the add ons.  if not  i just play it add on free on my kindle  (think i paid 3 for it on kindle)

So the update notes say that closed captions are now available for blu ray and DVDs...um, how was that not an option before? You're telling me almost 8 years later, they're finally supporting captions?

Anyone download the PS3 update? Is it safe? I'm always skeptical after that one time the update broke everything.
My friend had to download it last night before he could log in and play Pay Day 2 with me. We played for a few hours after that, so at least 1 person I know used it without issue.

Also, I decided to finally change my username on CAG to match PSN name like you did some time ago. I guess I was finally bored enough at work yesterday that it overcame the laziness to look in my profile for how to change it.

I have sold a bit on Amazon but I stopped listing items there about a month ago when I realized they were taking about 16% of my game sale prices. It seemed crazy to me but by the time all of their fees were added up it was (at least temporarily) cost-prohibitive.

I'm also down for team CAG TLoU.  I have the multiplayer trophies to finish and it would be nice to play with some gamers my age for a change.  Make sure you have a mic because communication is key to winning in that game.

Do you guys think I have a problem with platting a game I didn't enjoy in the end? From the Amazon Gold Box thread, talking about Beyond: TS:

 Right. I played the game for free through my library until I got the platinum trophy, and I still didn't enjoy it all that much. I was saying that if you really wanted to buy it, $10 is the highest I recommend paying.
I think I've disagreed with you before on this sort of thing, but all the same - I find it hard to accept the opinion of someone who would platinum a game despite not enjoying it. That's just bizarre to me. $20 seems alright for Beyond.
Maybe I'm spoiled since I didn't pay to play Beyond, but by the time I was irritated playing the game, I only had a few more trophies left for the plat, so... :whistle2:

Well we know what crunchewy will say. At the end of the day if you platted it you must have enjoyed that more than doing whatever else you could have done with your time. (hypotheitcally) If your daughter was asking you to pay attention to her and you chose to play a game you didnt really like I would find that a problem. Otherwise do what you want to do.

Does it really matter? We all play games how want to play games. Platting games is fun for me even if the game is not the greatest game ever. Nobody else should give a fuck about that, but for some reason people do.

It is the same stupidity that causes the console wars. We do not all have to like the same things. Just because someone else chose something different does not make my choice less relevant.

Sorry for the rant... just a pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, I think it was because I platted Heavy Rain and wanted to be consistent since it was the same developer, plus I tend to complete a game 100% if it's within my power to do so and the process doesn't require dozens of hours.

I also approach trophy-collecting as a second game within each game, so it's fun to go for the plat.

Sorry for making that whiny-ish post--I should have figured it doesn't matter in the end what others think.

I don't play games unless I'm having at least a decent amount of fun with them.  I think it's kinda strange that so many others here have no problem wasting hours and hours working on platinums when they're bitching about how mundane the experience is.

It doesn't invalidate your opinion on the game though.

I finished the story of Tearaway last night. Fun unique game, awesome fun ending too. I might switch over to the 3DS now so I can finish Ocarina and the new Zelda so I can sell the system and never look back.

If there are any others who enjoy getting plats that would be interested in boosting the Ultimate Team trophies for NCAA 14, let me know.  I have one friend willing to help out, but since he is not sure he wants to deal with the game at all I decided to look for another person that might be looking to finish the game.

I wish the Vita PS4 link had a controller option. I find that it works very well as a controller for Towerfall, but it's a waste to be streaming the video to the Vita when all I'm doing is using it as a controller and looking at the TV. The only reason I want this is so we can play 4 player Towerfall with only 3 DS4s and 1 Vita.

On a related note, it's surprisingly difficult to play Towerfall ON the Vita. You'd think a game with retro 16-bit graphics would be very easy to see on the Vita screen, but it isn't really. I find it hard to see important details such as where arrows are stuck into the walls/floors. The Vita screen is too small.

Regarding playing games you aren't enjoying through to Platinum. I think that's fine. I also think it's fine if you want to smash rotten eggs on your head. I wouldn't do it myself, though.

To be fair, I would spend more time trying to plat games if I had more time to spend. With my backlog and lack of free time I'm just beating games and moving on to the next one. Until I catch up some, I'll only go for the plat if I'm dangerously close after one playthrough (hence, the reason I only have 5).

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/06/24/resogun-heroes-out-today-new-world-new-modes-new-trophies/

Resogun will be going on sale starting this week for $9.99 along with some other info:

Hey there PlayStation Nation! Ian Pickles here, Producer at XDEV Studio Europe Back again as promised to give you some information about our new expansion: Resogun Heroes.

For those who missed our recent blog post regarding the free game update, feel free to go catch yourself up and come right back… we’ll wait.

So let’s get right to it – this is our first major expansion for Resogun, and we’ve spent a lot of time making sure in terms of playability and enjoyment it’s right up there with the main game. We’ve got a couple of new modes, and it all centers around our new world: Avernus.

Welcome to Avernus

In Greek mythology, Avernus was the gate to The Underworld — not a very nice place. Our own futuristic homage to this mythical gateway is a dark, foreboding planet where the Sentients retreated to after you kicked their asses and saved the last humans.

Avernus is a dark place full of new enemies and the mysterious Sentinel craft, all of which are not happy to see you coming back for more. Gameplay here takes place in two entirely new modes.

Survival Mode

Survival mode is Resogun turned up to 11. In this new mode you’ll descend onto Avernus with the sole purpose of taking the fight to Sentients. Attack the stormy city in the midst of an all-new day and night cycle, and destroy everything that moves.

Things are tough in Survival – you only have a single life to last as long as you can. A few things have changed to improve your odds, however.

The Humans you saved are back, and they’re ready to help you power up. Parachuting into the level frequently, they can be immediately collected to power up your weapons and give you the edge with several power ups including an improved shield, Clock (turbo speed), overcharged weapons and much more. Add those to your boost, overdrive and guns, and you’re a true force to be reckoned with.

At its heart, Survival is a true high score chase. We’ve improved the leaderboards and post-game feedback you can expect to see when you die (and die you will). We also have a couple cool additions to keep you pushing forward against your enemies.

Fallen Heroes – These are holograms of your ship placed on a timeline representing your best performance to date. Do better and the fallen hero will activate and, if collected will improve your shield and weapons to aid your survival.

Monuments – Nothing pushes you like beating your friends! In Survival we place Monuments representing your friends’ (or global) scores around you. Beat the score to destroy the monument as you move up the leaderboards to glory.

Survival is pure Resogun through and through, and we can’t wait to see your scores.

Destruction

Say hello to the “Wrecking Ball,” and your new favorite game mode.

In Destruction, you take the fight to Avernus at night, armed only with a proximity bomb that recharges after each use. No other weapons, boost or overdrive here. What you do have is the Wrecking Ball. When it’s caught in the explosion of your proximity bomb, it will fly off around Avernus destroying everything it hits… including you!

This new game mode is Resogun meets Arkanoid with a touch of Pinball, and it has to be seen to be believed.

The Wrecking Ball powers up after destroying 1000 enemies. What’s more, power ups will provide you with multiple wrecking balls and instant bomb recharges. It’s a risk and reward strategy where more Wrecking Balls equals more carnage — while posing far more danger to your small and vulnerable ship.

We can’t wait to see the reactions to Destruction; it’s fast became everyone’s favorite game mode here. Creating new types of experimental gameplay while keeping the same addictive, voxel-coated core is exactly what we’ll look to provide more of in future updates.

Trophies

We’re going to honor your fight in Avernus with the addition of yet more sweet Trophies to the game. This pack will push you to the limits with specific challenges across Survival and Destruction mode. We’ll be back with a Trophy guide very soon.

Pricing and Availability

This was previously announced by our friend Mikael from Housemarque, so here’s a reminder for those who missed it first time around:

“The Heroes expansion will go live on June 24th, and the full price will be $4.99. We are also providing an option for you to buy a season pass that includes the Heroes expansion pack, and will let you be the first to download more game add-ons that we’re developing, as soon as they’re released, at no extra cost.

Future expansions will add yet more game modes, along with a range of other content, additional Trophies, and the original soundtrack. The season pass is attractively priced at a lowly $7.99, which is simply a steal to ensure you have the full, definitive Resogun experience.

Lastly, if you don’t have Resogun, it will be $9.99 from June 24th to the July 7th.”

So that’s about it – we hope you all enjoy the Heroes expansion pack as much as we do and stay tuned for tips and tricks and news of future update soon.

Now go take to the fight to Avernus, and prove yourself as Heroes!

Smashing rotten eggs is something you wouldn't do? That's weird to hear from the guy who likes Popsicle sticks and yogurt up his bum.

re: 100% people -- do you check trophy lists before starting a game and not even start them if they're difficult to 100%?   For example, I really enjoyed my time with No Heroes Allowed, but some of those trophies are nightmares.   Or the 100 hour trophy in Montezuma, no thanks, just not worth it.   Or do you just start games you want to play, and then if you find out you need to play it 5 times while standing on one foot for 100 hours, go 'oh, ok, i can do that'?

I have a decent amount of plats... 50+ for sure... but i can't imagine getting 100% on everything, especially games i despise and give up on after ten minutes. is it just a case of 'once i start i finish'?  or are you just extremely selective in the games you start (must be well reviewed with relatively doable trophies).

i'm just thinking back to games, like the last one i didn't plat was Army Corps of Hell.  I actually had a good time with the game, and got most of the trophies (including some pretty hard ones) but to get the crafting ones i'd probably need to invest another 25 hours just farming items.  ack.

And.. i don't remember the UC3 plat being hard.

cheap ass ice cream cakes, but i have to agree, that gel like icing is amazing.  but i like odd foods.

I have probably done every scenario you mention because as always things depend on scenarios. If it is a game I am planning to play for a competition I want it to be quick and easy so I search those games out. If it is a game I just want to play, I likely still look at the list before I start just to know what I am getting myself into.

I am not really sure why the answers to any of that matter, but there you go.

UC3 plat is not hard. 100% after they came out with the ridiculous MP DLC stuff is brutal.
