GOG Deals Thread

Omikron was made by Quantic Dream, who did Inidigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls.  David Bowie is in Omikron lol.

Nice to see Summoner in there for so cheap.  I was just watching the Summoner Geeks video the other day for the nostalgia value.

I just checked out GOG for the first time a couple of days ago. I am absolutely addicted, and love their business model of restoring old PC games to work on modern systems. That's awesome.

To the guy posting about Omikron-- thank you, I grabbed that. Since you mentioned the problem with the 360 controller (and if the mapping software I bought for 4.99 a while back can't fix it) what's a good plug and play controller? I know a lot of these older games still have issues with using the 360 controller. How about a logitech controller? Or does anyone have any suggestions?

$1.49 is quite cheap, sure.

NO DRM - nothing.

Though...

Summoner [Steam-version] was cheaper on GameFly last weekend ($1.06 after voucher / $1.25 before voucher).

And the Steam-version doesn't contain CEG, either.

Is this "Kill Derick Evening" or something?
I'm pretty sure if they wanted you dead it wouldn't be possible now for this conversation to occur. Me personally if I were to do it I wouldn't use electricity. I would do something more messy. I want people to know the second they walk in a room that something horrible happened here. You know those cop shows where there is always one cop who loses it and vomits everywhere. Yeah something like that.

Let's not kill the toaster. I need something to toast my bread, bagel, or the occasional pop tart in the morning.

Is anyone going to be around in an hour or so when Omikron pops? I really should get to bed, but I don't want to miss it.

Will gladly front someone the PayPal payment if they'll gift me a copy.

For the few of you who don't realize how fuck ing funny this is, please take a moment and watch Rabbit Fire (1951).
Everybody has seen this already. Literally everybody.

I'm even literally using the word "literally" literally, here. That's just how everybody has already seen this.

So it's 2 AM here, i woke up all of sudden soaked in sweat. Opened GOG and saw Omikron was on sale (probably the only game i want from this sale) and ended up buying it. Should i be worried? am i gonna wake up in the middle of the night every time a game i want is on sale?.

GOG Summer Sale Day 14

<snip>

60% or 80% off Two World Saga (full bundle cost $5.98)

Two Worlds - $3.99 or $1.99
Two Worlds 2: Epic Edition - $7.99 or $3.99
TWO WORLDS series.

I have Two Worlds 1 from Retail;

and Two Worlds 2 from Retail;

and Two Worlds 2 + Pirates expansion from Gamersgate (digital).

Two Worlds series are another case similar to Riddick: Dark Athena:

ONLY the GOG-versions have NO DRM period.

Two Worlds games NOT from GOG actually use their own homebrew DRM - and it has limited activations. No revokes allowed - this is not Securom Internet DRM. Complete garbage treatment to consumer.

If you run out of activations for whatever reason (changing hardware parts, switching drivers, install game on another PC, etc) - you will have to contact one of their guys on the actual official forums or e-mail their support...and ask them to reset it! Complete bullshit - especially for games w/ SP-content.

For proof of that, look here -> http://board.zuxxez.com/showthread.php?41237-Two-Worlds-II-Activation-Problems&s=2cbea9cb35286e4da5c844980f49db97

So - if you're looking to buy these DRM-FREE to avoid the bullshit, this is right now the ONLY place to get it.

Unfortunately, AFAIK - Steam-versions of these STILL Deal w/ this bullcrap DRM. Steam owners shouldn't have to deal w/ this shit - since Steam's CEG alone is fine for DRM when dealing w/ Internet and account checks, IMHO; since CEG does logical things. CEG doesn't do stupid shit like Tages or Two Worlds' homebrew DRM do w/ "install limits."

To be fair, this is really because you're still doing stuff like buying PC retail.

*says the man who just bought TES Anthology*

...speaking of which, you seem like you'd know this, MysterD. Do the disc versions of the games in TESA have disc-check after installation, or anything else obnoxious?

I don't buy much from Retail anymore.

But, let me re-iterate this and make things crystal clear:

ALL NON-GOG Versions of Two Worlds 1+2 from Retail and Digital are stuck w/ this Homebrew DRM.

So - yes, the digital Steam-version + Gamersgate-version - they still have that Two Worlds series' Homebrew DRM crap wrapped around it.

I don't have TES:A PC from Retail, so I can't speak on it.

Someone else would know better than me...

Stop making me double dip to combat the evils of DRM MysterD!!!!!
I've thrown info out that might be important, for the future (or lack thereof) of these games, depending on the versions you have and what's available.

It's up to you to decide what to do w/ your money.

If you're that worried about double-dipping (which is definitely a fair assessment), think of these questions.

1) Do you like these games (or love these games)?

If "no" - don't re-buy.

If "yes" - continue to Question 2.

2) Have you finished these games?

If you have finished these games - go to Question 3.

If you have NOT finished these games - go to Question 4.

3) Do you have any plans and intentions to re-play these games?

If "no" - don't re-buy.

If "yes" - go to Question 5.

4) Do you have any intentions to want to finish these games?

If "yes" - go to Question 5.

If "no" - don't re-buy.

5) If you ARE here, you are contemplating re-buying - in your opinion, is the price right now cheap enough to suit you for you to consider getting double-dipped upon?

If "yes" - Rebuy.

If "no" - Wait for better sale.
