Sorry for all the Q's.  Just just so much numbers on the page and so little technical knowledge in the brains.

The biggest limiting factor is that the PS4 uses SATA 2, instead of SATA 3, which can really limit the performance gain that something like an SSD would traditionally provide. The PS3 used SATA 1, so in comparison a faster HDD will have a bit more impact on something like the PS4.
I think the DF evaluation is pretty good. It misses some of the upside of the hybrid drive--reloading levels. It's slow to load the first time but it's often SSD fast as you restart a checkpoint or reload a level.

I'm running the previous generation hybrid with a 7200RPM spindle. A lot of comments on Amazon from folks who're using that drive successfully in PS4's. I just bought one for my wife's MacBook. $120 is high. Amazon's had it for $90-95 and It's been even less on NewEgg after promos. If you get it from Best Buy, be sure to PM.

Holy shit that Killzone 3 ending was absolute trash. The game was borderline trash. Also, I play on veteran thinking there are difficulty trophies. Nope, only for Elite which unlocks after you beat the game. It would have been more fun to play on recruit.
Ya, that's the way Arkham City is, you can't just beat it on hard in one playthrough, you have to beat it on any difficulty above easy and then beat it again in NG+.

I finally went back and finished Mutant Blobs Attack on Vita 100% today and then started Guacamelee STCE. I just unlocked the new Intenso power and it seems pretty cool. I'm not sure if it'll make the game too easy since it boosts health and stamina. I still need to 100% the original Guacamelee. Did that dlc ever go on sale?
I don't think so since its fairly cheap, getting it seems like a waste considering you already have it in the PS4 version.

And the fact that you were playing a boring ass game like Skyrim.
I really liked it, but you're right, it can be a bore at times. The combat needs a serious revamp, but I'm not sure how much better they can make it with the first-person view. I'd love to see the next Elder Scrolls done in default third-person view with a combat system more like Kingdoms of Amalur.

I have that same case. I had it for a year now and it works great. I had bought screen protectors separate from the ones with the case. I would like another charger. The charging cable is wearing out. I'm thinking about getting the travel charger.
I just bought this portable battery:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009V5X1CE/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

good reviews and a lot more power than the official portable battery for about the same price on amazon

I am completely baffled by the logic of spending an extra $100 with your PS4 purchase just so you don't have to delete a couple games. Especially with the fact that you can play most PS4 games before they're even finished installing. I reiterate my comment from last week about how you guys suck at memory management.

I dont understand, who is paying $100 more for a PS4? Are they buying a new hard drive? 500GB isnt enough?

Could you elaborate on what you mean by "a lot more power than the official portable battery" (i.e., how many more charges this battery provides)? I might be interested in this.
The output of the official portable battery is estimated at 5v/5000 mah. This one is estimated at 5v/10,400 mah and has dual output of either 1a or 2a. the only thing I have not really tested on it is whether it can play while charging. I just got it and plugged the vita cord into the 2a port and it showed that the vita started to charge (but my vita was fully charged). I have not messed with it anymore. the cool thing is it can be used to charge an iphone up to 5 times on one charge and can be used to charge any android phone or ipad. It cannot charge my asus tablet unfortunately. I will post more as I use it.

EDIT: The oled vita battery is estimated at 2210 mah, so the official portable battery should, in theory charge the vita 2 times (most ads for it say 1.5 times). This battery should, in theory, charge the vita up to 4 times.

Some people just do not want to deal with it. I have not upgraded mine and do not plan on it anytime soon, but I am still rocking a 120 gb ps3 and just delete games after I finish them.

Yeah, this is what you should do. I guess too many people are like Affa. Digital hoarders? I have a 160GB and never see available space go under 20GB

I concur, especially with the crap app/game sorting system. Give us freaking folders Sony!

i want another vita for some reason, but i think i'll just pony up for a new one. if i got one with any kind of scratches on the screen, it would bug the hell out of me until i sold it. people must be really bad at taking care of their stuff. i can understand some scratches on the back/case, but why wouldn't you protect your screen?

I got lucky and got a 8 rated vita from cowboom, it was never opened and brand new. This was a few months ago and only cost $125.

For hard drives, Game Informer did a write up about the differences between hard drives. The SSD won't be blazing because as already mentioned it's only SATA2. A 72000 RPM drive will only be a little quicker as well. The Hybrid drives are said to be the both of best worlds but I don't like them because it's mainly Seagate making them and I had one for the PS3 and it was the only drive that has died on me in about the last 10 years.

If you play a lot of the same game all the time the hybrid might be the way to go since it loads the most used stuff to the quicker SSD side. So system boot and if you play Call Of Duty every day will load faster.

I upgraded my PS3 to a 750GB drive but honestly for the PS4 I don't see the point. 500GB isn't awful. My PS3 was only 160GB. You can go to 1TB but I'm just learning to delete games when I'm done with them (thanks Vita!). I'm not sure the cost involved say $80-$100 is really worth the investment performance gain wise.

Upgrading my PS3's 120GB to a 750GB was the best decision I've ever made, especially with PS+ games being churned out so quickly.

I'm hoping my PS3's 500GB hard drive will last me a few years, but I anticipate upgrading it to a 2TB or so in a few years when they're more affordable and I have way more digital games.

Memory management is easy to do, but it definitely sucks. For a lot of people it's worth $80-$100 to never have to worry about it (I paid $60 for my 750GB hard drive, and if my PS3 last me another 2 years I'll have got 3 years out of the new hard drive, which is just over a nickel a day to not have to worry about memory management).

I'm not interested in upgrading my PS4 HDD now, but I can understand why others would be. Re-downloading things on my 750GB was a huge pain in the ass and took close to a month, so people are just trying to start out with the HDD that they hope will survive through the entire life of their PS4.

But like I said, I'll use some memory management on my PS4 if necessary until I can get a 2TB for a good price. The 500GB will last me a long time.

yeah, i checked craigslist right after cowboom, and everyone is asking near msrp for them. usually bundled with amazing games like mlb 12 and madden 13. pretty much all the screens were scratched up too.

Game downloads and mandatory installations can be gargantuan. Wolfenstein is ~50GB. I can see it filling quickly, especially if you have some non-deletables on there (if you catch my drift, lol).

Unlike @tyler, NOT upgrading my PS3 HDD is one of my biggest regrets. What a freaking hassle it's become. So I intend to upgrade my PS4 as quickly as possible, but nothing below 2GB. And after everything I've read I'll be avoiding Seagate (though to be fair, I have one of their externals still going strong after 5 years).

These 30-50 gb installs though. I'm not sure if most disc-based PS4 games are like this or not as I haven't looked into it much, but that's only roughly 15 game installs on your hard drive at once. Like you said I know you can delete them, but if I can get a good enough deal on a larger hard drive I'd rather not even have to worry about it.

Time is money. $100 is nothing compared to the hassle of excessive memory management.

I'm the one who started this whole discussion. I don't know if 500 is enough, especially as I hope to be all (or mostly) digital.

I know 32 GB is not enough for the Vita.

I'm considering whether to maximize the HD now rather than have to re-download everything later.

I have money in spades. What I don't have is time.

I think most of them think the government is just going to shut the internet down one day and all their games will be gone.

But if you werent a digital hoarder it wouldnt take long to manage memory. I just delete games and saves when i finish them. Takes 2 minutes.

I do this too, it just takes me two months to finish a game. but I tend to queue up downloads from the webstore. so, this week I actually finished two games and deleted them. and added 6 more from ps+.

Yeah I have a 32GB card on Vita and it's plenty. I can't play even 15 games at a time (that would fill the 500GB) so that point is moot. I'm almost all digital, I'm down to about 9 physical games now and I'm going to keep going until those are gone as well. Just play a game and delete it when you are done. It takes no time at all. Even a 1TB drive would only house 30 games so what happens when you have 60 or 120? Just stop hoarding now and it will be easier.

Edit: Pete, just purchase them don't queue them unless you are going to play all 6. Problem solved.

Edit 2: At least on the PS4 you can see all your games without having them downloaded, so it will help all you crazy people needing to see all your games in front of your face at any given second.

but what if I suddenly get the urge to play one of them? like thomas was alone? then I might have to wait for it to download! and then I might lose my motivation and start playing something else! and then I never would've played thoma...

oh, I see your point.

About the lack of a Guacamelee upgrade promo in the US:

We wanted to have an upgrade package available to all those who purchased the original Guacamelee! on the PS3 or PSVita. The upgrade package is available in Europe and in Asia, but due to reasons that are not clear to us, an upgrade was not possible in North America. This decision was outside of our control, and we are disappointed along with our fans.

I'm not usually super excitied about old arcade games (even playing some from time to time) but I saw that Q-bert Rebooted is coming to Vita. Sweet, will be getting that.

It's not hoarding. (okay, it's a lot of hoarding) It's just never getting to play. I still haven't finished games from years ago and this last 'big" game I got was Lego Marvel at Xmas. It's hard to play any game that's I need more than a few minutes to get through.

I think I will stick with the 500 for now...and get a 2 TB when it's available.
