I can't recommend SteamWorld Dig enough. At $5, you really owe it to yourself to play through it.

Seriously, is he OCD Man? Why does Batman need to collect so many damn trinkets, if feels like I spend 70% of my time finding them, I'm two story trophies away from beating the game, and there are still hundreds of them. And trinket collection is supposedly WORSE in Origins? I don't see how that could be possible.

Anyone want to push me over the fence towards buying TxK? I've heard good things and came close to buying it when it released
Buy it. Support an incredible vita arcade exclusive. It's by Jeff Minter, who has been doing Tempest games for awhile now (Tempest 2k, Space Giraffe, etc) and other classic arcade style games. This is the next evolution of those games, and it's fucking brilliant.

It's pure 80's arcade brought to 2014, with neon vector style graphics, mind melting speed, great audio and it'll eat all your quarters gameplay.

So good I'd buy it again if I had to, and it'll never leave my vita. And even if I didn't love it as much as I do, I'd buy it to support indie devs bringing vita exclusives to us, because devs talk to devs and if we want more games, we want devs happy with vita sales (which they seem to be).

well its 4th july no flash sale or weekend blowout at gamestop its independence day u figure sony or some chain electronics store would do themeatic game sale on patriotic games hint hint shooters or assasins creed series anything with historial plot or fighting for liberty oh well weekend isnt over but i doubt well see anything now

summer blast sale is crap i mean games that r gonna be free on plus soon or just outright not what im wanting at moment
slidecage alt?

I just started Origins today, so I haven't run in to it yet, but City was bad. I gave up on them shortly after I beat the game. Origins definitely feels rougher than the first two, but I expected that with a different developer and the mediocre reviews.

So I missed all the drama (don't always have time to read every page)... thread got split? Yikers.

I don't totally understand what's allowed to be here (never saw io's original post, looked back a few pages and couldn't find it). So I don't really understand what's allowed here now.

Do you really not use the What's New section of the site that shows you which threads that you follow have gotten posts since you last read them?
My bookmark is to the forum "Video Game Deals", from there I scroll down till see the 'new post' icon next to this thread, since it's the only thread I pay attention to.

I honestly don't have time to deal with two threads here. I'm likely not alone.

I'm all for OT/life chatter but not in a main topic on the deals forum. You also must have selective memory and not remember folks like Stotch belittling people anytime that God forbid they asked a question about the sale that had been discussed 7 pages back or anything and deliberately giving false info. Thats the kinda shit that got old real fast.
Nowadays, I don't always have time to 'catch up' to this thread... especially when it gets slammed with junk posts. But I don't really mind, it's people being people. You've mentioned the only two things I have an issue with: people intentionally posting false info and/or belittling newcomers that come in asking questions. Hell, if I recall correctly io was confused/misdirected by a 'false info' post a month or three ago.

But splitting up the thread? That's just going to be confusing. I guess I stay here because I'm more interested in deals/reviews than I am banter and don't have time to follow two threads... but I'll miss the banter.

Actually, since that thread isn't even in the video game deal forum, my bookmark will no longer even show it. It effectively no longer exists in regards to how i use the site.

I have a question regarding Remote Play with my PS Vita. I've already registered it with my PS3 system. Now, it wants me to find some sort of [Network] > Remote Play, but I can't seem to find it. I checked under Network settings on my PS3 and the separate settings for Remote Play. Alas, none of it seemed to help.

I tried connecting privately and via the Internet on my Vita since both are already connected by Wi-Fi but it failed. By the way, is Remote Play only compatible with specific titles?

Also, Congrats to Velo! Even if we don't know each other that well.
Remote play is very limited with a PS3. It doesn't have dedicated hardware for it, so each dev has to set aside resources and code for it... very few did. Some do work, though. All ps1 games do work, iirc. I think tokyo jungle and peggle do too? Not sure.

The ps4 has dedicated hardware and it's 'baked in'. Works fantastic for most people (definitely for me).

I haven't used ps3 remote play in ages now that I have a ps4....

here are basic instructions:

https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/540/~/remote-play-for-ps3-and-psp

here are a list of supported games:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Play#Software_compatibility

Again, the ps4 has it all baked in so everything is remote play with vita and works well. The limitations are specific to ps3.

It's a good split. now they can talk to each other without annoying the 99.99% of CAG.

Is Awakened for dead space 3 worth buying???

My nephew likes Dead Space games and seemed to like the Awakened DLC.  I'm not a fan so I can't give my opinion.

I hear Octodad is a lot of fun but pretty short but good for while it lasts. I'm probably picking it up tomorrow while it's on sale.

What in the ever loving fuck... is Steamworld Dig really not cross-save??! I don't understand. I seriously was ready to plunk down after reading some reviews. Not sure anymore.

Anyone gotten their 250 Sony Rewards points from the E3 app yet? I could have sworn they said the deadline was the 4th and I did everything
Not yet. I'm guessing they forgot the 4th was a holiday and we'll get it Monday.

--------------

I want to want Steamworld Dig but I didn't like that other mining game (ps+ ps4, can't remember the name) so am not sure I want to pull the trigger.

Apparently you can't get seperaty trophy lists anymore if you support cross save. Huge pain.

Is Octodad worth the $9? Looks good, but on the fence...
I enjoyed it, but I paid $5 for it on PC. I don't know if I would have been happy with it for any more than that. If you already like the concept, then you will probably enjoy it, depending on your own sense of value. It's very short. I would wait for it to be cheaper personally. Of course, when it is cheaper I might buy it again, so I'm not sure what that tells you.

My only complaint with the game is that it starts to try too hard to be a game, instead of relishing in the goofy nonsense that most people probably buy it for.

So for example, in the early stages of the game, the fun comes from screwing up while performing mundane tasks. But like most games, they expect you to master the gameplay to a degree where you can overcome some sort of challenge. Except you don't play it because the gameplay is good, but because it's momentarily amusing to overcome awkward controls in the name of comedy. Some of the more focused challenges near the end thus become more annoying than fun.

Still worth playing though. I still have the goofy theme song playing in my head from time to time.

LoL!

@FIF - Ahh, okay. Well, at least there's a reason. Not sure which I prefer though I know most of you are happy about the double trophies. Seems like a prime candidate for Plus but I guess I'll go ahead and bite. Been holding off since the 3DS version.

It's very different than Super Motherload, assuming that's what you're talking about despite not being a PS+ game, as SWD has some heavy Metroid-style mechanics in play with the way they introduce new moves that makes it easier/more fun to dig and get around.

Ohhh. I thought he was making a joke about Terraria. Didn't even notice the part about PS4.

So yay/nay on Steamworld? Looking to further scratch the Terraria itch.

I went ahead and picked up Steamworld. Played about an hour and am enjoying it a lot. I don't know when I suddenly started digging (please see what I did there) these kind of games but I'm hooked. If you like Terraria you'll love this. I know that doesn't exactly inspire confidence in @affa, lol, but this seems to be a lot more streamlined and focused. There's a story. Also, there doesn't appear to be any crafting (unless it comes later).

I have to hand it to them for the amount of polish the game has. Kind of shocked this is a $5 "indie".

I'll have to watch footage on Steamworld Dig since it seems right up my alley. I passed on it during the Steam summer sale thinking I'd rather get it on Vita and now I'm being a cheapass. I'm trying to hold out to see if it goes free on PS+. The PS4 library is still relatively small and I feel like CrossBuy titles have a higher likelihood than others. If it's as awesome as everyone says I may still bite. I like to support indie devs.

Oh, odd, supermotherload must have had a killer sale or something because i don't even remember buying it. But yes, that was the game i was talking about... and while it's interesting (and i could see some people really enjoying it) I just wasn't feeling it. Quick looks at Steamworld Dig gameplay make them look somewhat similiar, so it's good to know that's not the case.

And again, it's not that Super Motherload is bad... it's just not my thing. In SM you have a limited machine capable of digging down for ore -- you can combo ore in various ways to get bonuses, but the basic idea is you need to get the ore back to your base to upgrade your driller. More fuel, storage, better drill bits, etc... then you can go deeper and deeper. I think it's coop friendly too. I played it after playing Don't Starve, and Don't Starve is way more my thing.

I'm loving that Threeway Crossbuy for games. I'll probably pick up Another World when it's on sale.

I remember a time when I cared about achievements enough to only buy PlayStation exclusives on PS3/Vita and all multiplatform releases on 360. Now I love being able to play games on the go and how much indies thrive on Vita. Crossbuy titles are a big reason for that.

Personally I'd compare it more to something like DigDug: Metroidvania Edition. Terraria seems all about the crafting and survival elements so I don't really see the similarity aside from they both involve digging.
Hmmm I'm not a fan of DigDug. I'm watching this guy play the PS4 version on Twitch and I don't like that the path closes up behind you. Maybe he's not very good or still getting used to the game since it's new but he's gotten stuck a few times because of that.

Silence, squirrel. Do not oppose me.

You could be right, though, idk. Like I said I've only played about an hour. I have no idea what DigDug is so I'm not sure if that's a more fitting comparison. I just know it has the exploration vibe going which is what I loved most about Terraria. I'll also add that Terraria isn't so much about 'survival' as it is progression. Hypothetically you could mess around building and farming ore to your heart's desire if you wanted. Unlike something like Don't Starve (which I also love, btw) that requires constant resource gathering. Uh oh, is this where @frisky steps in with the proper genre nomenclature?!

Unless you're completely ill-prepared by the point where the re-appearing blocks show up, there's no way to really screw yourself over with that stuff.

Just finished the Monohime story line in Muramasa Rebirth. After some searching it seems the two storylines are similar and the map (and enemies) is exactly the same, probably won't be going through the Kisuke line, I shouldn't be missing much right?

What????

Classic 80's arcade game, one of the best. You need to clear screens by collecting stuff and using boulders to smash enemies. There is a slight time delay after digging beneath a boulder, so you want to create a long vertical tunnel, then get enemies chasing you, and kill them all (sort of like getting ghosts chasing you in pacman).

Plus, fantastic music.

watch a level on youtube. i loved it as a kid, the gameplay holds up, but it's a lot harder than i remembered it being.

i 'broke' the UFC ps4 demo by discovering a spam move that usually took out the other guy in under 10 seconds.   I hope that gets patched.  I want to enjoy the game but fighting games simply can't have that type of exploit.

Isn't there an "ultimate" ending that you can only get by beating both storylines?
