[PC] The Indie Gala Thread

I'm starting to get burned out from buying bundles. Haven't bought any this month. Already reached over 1K games. There's nothing more for me!

95% of bundle games are trash.  People are buying them just for +1 and cards, the games -- to them -- are irrelevant.  I can't recall the last bundle I bought.  Think it was the Groupees with Necro in it.

Don't buy games because it will be bundled, don't buy bundles because it has repeats and games you want will be repeated down the line FTW.

Saves you money, try it.

Vote for those smoking simulators for cards and +1.

Used to buy full retail, discovered warez;
used to pirate, discovered CAG;
used to B2G1, discovered Half Price Books;
used to bargain bin, discovered Steam;
used to 75%, discovered bundles;
used to happy hour, discovered Tremor.

the final stop is to quit your job and spoder keys

Let's see, I just want Rogue's Tale and Quest Run, the rest is either stuff I don't care about or already have.  I might have picked it up anyhow but I'll be skipping due to the stupid price hike.

Hmm... three repeats for me. This still falls into my ~.50 per game guideline, however.

It looks like Chester is nearly the same game as Chester United on Greenlight. In other words, one of those "this is a different game" kind of things that means no keys most likely.
Well the dev says this right on the page:

Chester United is a sequel to the original Chester[www.desura.com].

It looks different enough to actually be considered a new game, has new playable characters and some stages... I don't expect to see our older purchases get automagically turned into a Steam version and for good reason. But hopefully we get some sort of a discount for owning the previous game.

Hopefully this formats OK

I got this game on Indie stand, will that version receive the updates?

Yup, as long as you have a copy here on Desura or were a Kickstarter backer way back when that happened you will be getting Chester United when it releases.

These two posts illustrate why it should be spelled out a little more clearly on the IG page (if, in fact, he means to update previously owned copies by issuing Steam keys). As it stands, it looks like IG is out of the loop and any sort of Steam keys would be completely reliant upon the good will of the developer.

You can get 500 coins per day (in less than 2 minutes) very easily, takes almost no effort.

We're listening.

Three repeats for me, the rest aren't worth the price of entry

Actually, I'd like Helldorado but I'm not shelling out $1.79 for it. I'll wait for the next bundling

Same boat as Spodes I want Koala Kids but don't need the rest. This new $1.79 first day price ain't exactly convincing me to buy for one game either.

I'm missing Omegalodon, but it's multiplayer only (why?!?!!?), Diamond Dan, and Koala Kids.

Diamond Dan has been on my wishlist for a while and Koala Kids does look like it could be fun (if greenlit), but the rising pricepoint makes it really difficult to justify the price per game.

Koala Kids looks pretty cool and I hope it gets Greenlit. Is it worth this whole bundle price mainly owning most of these games.....no.

i own the giana and guise of wolf rest none rest me no own suck on that eheh

ITAD is saying that Robot Rescue Revolution isn't a repeat, but Google tells me it was briberied back in Feb. Dammit.

https://www.indiegala.com/weekly

New crapsule weekly. (Typo not intended)

Pay $1.89 or more and get the following 7 FANTASTIC GAMES!

Aeon Command is a tug of war strategy game, where you play as one of three unique factions to help gain dominance over the Aeon Nebula! Take control of your mother ship to gather resources, produce ships and fight off the enemy mother ship. Grow stronger as you progress through the 24 mission campaign and unlock new upgrades.

FAMAZE is a retro themed roguelike puzzle adventure game. Choose the the dashing Knight, the cunning Thief, or the mystical Wizard each with unique special powers. Delve into The Mad King's ever changing dungeon to rescue the rutabagas! Never the same game twice! Music by Disasterpeace and Art by Oryx.

Julian Luxemburg has prepared a dinner for two at his place – but things go awry when the date does not show up and he is left waiting at his dinner table, the clock’s ticking growing unbearably loud.

Flight of the Icarus is a game where you play as a privateer who owns an airship that helps ferry goods from town to town in a post-apocalyptic world where the skies are dominated by pirates and danger. Shoot down enemy aeroplanes with a variety of deadly weaponry. Keep the ship from falling out the sky.

Explore, blast, and shield your way through massive branching levels as Laika the space dog. This 2D adventure features customized gameplay and an incredibly deep narrative.

Dead Hungry Diner is all about big combos, spells, monsters fighting monsters and finding your flow within the monstrous mayhem! Help Gabe and Gabby, patrons of “The Dead Hungry Diner”, as they feed the creatures of the night buckets and buckets of juicy Brain Berry goop!

Super Cyborg is an oldschool nonstop hardcore run'n'gun action! You play as battle cyborg who was sent to investigate a mysterious island. A very powerful alien known as 'Xirxul life form' has been awakened by the scientists and now all humanity is in danger!

Not bad for anyone that missed The Sun at Night, but otherwise it's almost all repeats.. The only non-repeat is Super Cyborg which is desura..

Flight of the Icarus is Guns of Icarus renamed.

Aeon Command is alright fun. Think of it kind of like a space themed Sword and Soldiers. I played it enough to beat the first campaign and almost beat the second. It gets a bit repetitive but it's alright. Worth a dollar IMHO.

Missing Super Cyborg which looks neat, but is Desura, and seems like the type of game to make it into other bundles like Groupees.

I also played Dead Hungry Diner which is a very decent Diner Dash type game. Not bad, but not great and gets repetitive quickly.

Aeon Command, Dinner Date, and a Desura game are not worth $1.89 to me. Are these bundles going up .10 every time or what?

It seems the price keeps increasing and the bundles get worse and worse. It's an IndieRoyale philosophy, and it's having the same effect on me, which is to not buy bundles very often. I used to love Indiegala Every Monday Bundles as they seemed to be cheap and have decent games. Remember when it was like a dollar to get the bundles. Indiegala....don't go down this route....

Yep. I expect it'll start getting even more awkward, as when it crosses the $2 threshold, it's going to be a WHOLE lot harder for me to say "Eh, why not" for a number of games that are mostly "+1 to Steam account library total".

Ninjaed by the kitty and others for being on a slow ass phone connection that didn't refresh my page fast enough.

Hmm first the first day was $1.49 then $1.79 now $1.89? This dirt cheap crappy bundle inflation is outrageous! ;-)

It is exactly as I said, the original game used to be called Guns of Icarus and was renamed to Flight of the Icarus to avoid confusion. Guns of Icarus Online is a different game.
Yep! There's even a thread in the Steam forums about this very subject. Developer response on why the name was changed:

Confusion. When we push for Guns of Icarus Online through casters, media, and other outreach there are always players who accidently pick up the first Guns of Icarus and don't look too closely and while we love our original game, we hae no doubt that the new one is a much stronger and more polished game.

I've been wanting Larry for a while. Rest of stuff just looks like OK bundle fodder. HH i'm in....nothing else in this bundle looks that great. Shiny the Firefly I do own and can vouch that it's decent casual fun and has Steam Trading Cards, I would recommend it for some folks out there.

Edit:

these games have Steam Trading Cards:

Racer 8

R.I.P.D.

Shiny the Firefly

Not a big issue b/c it's a bundle and low cost, but one of my friend's couldn't even run it. One of the reviews say it's a poor PC port, so perhaps may have issues on lower-end computers (too much resource use).
