 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Is blood lad worth it at less than $17?
obviously I thought it was :p

basically I find the anime to be decent, starts slow and starts building up well for future events... and then kind of ends... worst part is the official manga translations are just now finally getting past where the anime ended and are coming out slowly.

Forewarning, Someday's Dreamer is a good anime, but some would say it's a bit boring. Good, but boring.
I ended up buying it since it had a nice artbox and was pretty cheap. They also had Rumbling Hearts for 5 bucks though I had it already lo. Most of the stuff there is a mix of bad bootlegs and single volumes of stuff I have never heard of.

As a shonen fan, Blood Lad was so-so. I liked how it began and all the references to other anime it made, but things just didn't feel developed. I mean, it does end very abruptly. It makes me wonder why they even bothered to make the anime in the first place.

how long does gohatings standard shipping take? kinda hoping to start gunslinger girl soon. looks really good lol
hopefully you got yours in fast enough. I got a notice saying they are all backordered and I will get mine when they have more. if I check my order status it just says in progress which each of them showing out of stock :/

When you order from them and it says its out of stock, that means your copy is secured. Says it right there in the Shipping Information on your Order Details. FAQ: Status Out of Stock? Lucky you! You got the last one!

I take it is your first time ordering from GoHastings?

not my first time but the rest of the times they didn't go out of stock on me, but the email my got doesn't sound like they have a copy for me as they sent me

We just wanted to let you know that the following item(s) on your order have been shipped.

The following item(s) will be shipped separately as soon as they become available at no additional cost to you.

ORDER NUMBER: removed

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Order Qty Title

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 Gunslinger Girl: The Complete

1 RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne: C

1 Tiger & Bunny The Movie - The

1 Blood Lad: The Complete Series
as clearly I have no items shipped and the rest will just ship when they become available according to them (which given how old some of them is is slightly worring but w/e). Either way if they eventually come that is all I care about :p

but yeah I have gotten stuff like love hina or avatar from them when they had freeshipping and a percent off making buying $2 disks from them great :p

Shipping confirmation doesn't usually happen until they take it to USPS, which will likely be Monday.

Also, note that Hastings sends all their stuff from their stores, so your stuff will likely come in separate packages.

Funi sent out December solicitations and guess what no Evangelion which means that we will have gone one full year without Eva after its slated release. Bebop is on there and the final season of DBZ. Tempted to start collecting them, however, gut feeling suggests that the first half of the series will be on sale in November.

Thinking of starting to collect another Gundam series. Which should I get? Seed, G, or the OG Mobile Suit?

SEED is the cheapest. MSG will be $150-$200 minimum.
I've been trying to complete my Gundam collection for a while now. The original series very expensive right now. I managed to get 1, 3, and 10 from secondspin during one of their sales. The other volumes don't pop up much on ebay and are expensive. The last chapter of zeta gundam is also quite expensive.

How is gundam seed? I only watched part of that on adult swim, but never finished because they moved it around several times.

I really enjoyed Seed. It's similar to the original story wise, but it has a more shoujo art style and a bit more of a love story going for it. There are some really cool characters in it too.

Seed Destiny on the other hand tried to piggyback onto it like Zeta did to the original and just failed miserably. The main character of it was just obnoxiously annoying and made it really hard to watch. Seeing the characters from Seed pop back in about halfway through was nice, but still not enough to make it something I'd recommend.

SEED has its problems, but it is overall OK to good. SEED Destiny had numerous, numerous problems and even its best moments had a lot of bad in it.

The HD Remasters of both are actually on the official GundamInfo YouTube channel. Sub-only.

Right Stuf's started a Sentai/Section23 studio sale.  Today's also an overlap day with the NIS sale from last week.  If you needed something else to push your NIS order into free shipping, now's the time to do so.

I can't remember if there was anything exciting listed by Sentai since the last sale that I forgot to order from :D

This, maybe? That's still a bit high for my tastes, though.

No evangelion or Code Geass blu ray...ouch

Yeah, it looks like that and some weird stuff like Severing Crime Edge are the only things I don't recognize from the last sale (which only matters to me because those other items are all still sitting in my cart). I agree about that set being priced a bit too high. I think if I'd be paying $70 for a 13 episode show with some goodies, I'd rather spend the extra $64 and get the Natsume's Book of Friends bundle. I guess if you're a really big fan LC&O it wouldn't matter how much the set cost, but it certainly makes blind/impulse buys more difficult.

I also noticed that they have all 4 of the dvd sets for Gintama back in stock. I feel like they were sold out of one of the volumes for awhile and were practically giving away the other three. Well, if you did get the other 3 when they were dirt cheap you can finish them off with a new copy of the one you're missing (if you haven't already done so). It's too bad this show wasn't the moneymaker for Sentai that other long-running shows have been for Funimation.

Is it worth pre-ordering new Sentai stuff with discount at this point or is it better to wait for the holiday sales?
I agree with Themaster that Deep Discount has better sale prices when it comes to Sentai stuff. Though I've found that their availability is sometimes hit or miss at times because of this. If it's something that you want to watch right away, or just something that you want to be sure you own, then the prices at RS aren't bad. I know I preorder a lot more titles than I need to because of that second point though, so keep that in mind. :D

Yeah, Seed has problems, but it's the closest to a modern update of the original Gundam show. Just stay away from Seed Destiny, which had story, character and pacing problems.

But if you want physical releases of it, go for the tv version, not the movie versions. The movie versions(much the Zeta ones) cut a bunch of character development out so that they could cram everything into 3 movies. There are a couple new things added(like a sex scene in movie 1) that really doesn't make up for the missing elements.

So the overall verdict is to collect seed in the two part anime legends collection about 30 each and don't get the movies that are way overpriced to begin with. Cool. I'll start soon

I've haven't had a lot of finds, but I found this this weekend.  I got this disc replay.  I'm trying to save some money, but couldn't  pass on that.  They also had the death and rebirth disk, but passed on that.

I think I'll look into picking up Gundam Seed soon.  Finishing my original gundam set will likely take awhile.

Also try SecondSpin. They are running their 30% off promo right now.

FUNi is runnig a promo at their store where if you preorder Battle of Gods you can get 20% off any other DB or DBZ DVD or Blu-ray. Doesn't work on pre-orders.

Sounds like par for the course with RACS.
I wish RACS had an ego-filled talkshow but this is good stuff right here. All I remember from Love Live wave that hit here is that RACs sold out quick and he sold his "personal copy". I never heard that he cancelled orders though as that sounds more like the Toradora fiasco unless that was in another forum as you said.

Either way keep it classy, RACS.

Nice find. I've been looking for a copy of that ever since I found the platinum collection boxset for $45 about a month ago.

I get these threads mixed up. Is this where we were talking about Love Live! and somebody brought up that Robert's Anime Corner sold out, had to cancel some orders, and that the titular Robert even had to give up his personal copy?

'Cause he's currently selling them on Amazon for $168.98.
