Darn, I meant to post this an hour ago, but I had to rush out the door for a noon meeting:

I remember reading so many complaints about Spelunky in the PSN thread that it kind of scared me off giving it a shot, but based on your recommendation, I suppose I can try it out.

I feel sorry for the guy who coded that demo to say "Square" and "Triangle". His two minutes--heck, maybe just one whole minute--of work were all for naught.

That mention of lemon meringue pie reminded me of this sales rep at my last job who would make these incredible homemade pies.  His chocolate chess and key lime pies were my favorites.

 
Those of you in here with PUR Pro at Gamestop need to renew for another year even if you're set for the time being. There are reports of two B2G1 coupons being given after renewal--one on the receipt when you renew in-store and one in the Active Offers section of your PUR online account a few days later.

These B2G1 coupons are both good on all games and don't expire until after Black Friday. :whee:

To all you people who are playing SoM and are all "oh this is so much fun I'm just going to screw around for hours and hours and never play the story missions": PLAY THE DAMN STORY!  At least up to the middle.

Brand is so sweet.  I just played the mission where I made my branded guy a warchief and now I need to get the other 4.

I think it will make it. It has went up $1000 since Tyler posted that and it now only has to make $3000 in 28 hours.

I didn't like it because there is no sense of progression in failure. You can eventually unlock shortcuts, but at the end of the day, nothing changes with your character whether you've played 1 hour or 100 hours, you're back to square one when you die. One of the reasons I liked FTL, but hated spelunky is as you play you unlock new ships and new ship configurations that have different starting strengths and weakness. So even if you are failing, you are failing in different ways and you can pick a starting ship which complements your play style. If, for instance, the stock character in splelunky you began the game with started with two items/abilities as standard, and the other characters you unlock while playing each started with two different items or abilities as standard, I would at least feel like I am making headway as i fail miserably (but at least in a different way this time as I try a new tactic).

It also annoyed me that environmental traps would often damage the shopkeeper and cause him to immediately aggro and kill me even though his beef shouldn't be with me. It's not my fault the boulder that triggered 80 feet up wrecked your shop that I didn't even know was there.

What's interesting is that it was announced for Xbone before PS4, but somehow the PS4 version got out first, and now the Xbone version isn't coming out at all.

Always sad (to most people) when studios are struggling and have low sales, but The Last Tinker doesn't sound like it lived up to the potential it had. Apparently they when the lazy route on the platforming (making it AC-like instead of normal 3D platforming) and I think $20 is asking a bit much for something like that in this day (though apparently it's on sale for $15 for PS+ which I had no idea, wonder if it's one of those "permanent" sales).

I really wanted them to succeed, but after playing the game I'm not the least bit surprised they didn't. It was hugely disappointing and really felt like something that needed more time in the oven and people that understand what makes 3D platformers fun (hint: having actual platforming is a good place to start).

The Last Tinker and Ethan Carter are both on PC, so I don't see how they count as exclusives.

Did you play it on PC or PS4 as the PC version looks like it received better reviews and has a 94% thumbs up on the Steam reviews?

I can confirm that you do get a B2G1 on the reciept. It's actually good through 12/31/2014.

Another bonus; I also got a code for an extra $50 when trading in a Vita. I had him check and the guy said the original generation Vita goes for $110 base, so that'd be $160. That code is valid through 10/12/14. If anybody wants mine just shoot me a PM.

What, you didn't trust me? ;) I got the same coupon last night when I renewed (set through 2017, woo!); I think it's the other coupon that has a 11/30/14 expiration date. I also traded in a Vita (bought from Amazon for ~$115) with one of those coupons (which I already received a week ago).

Did you know you can check TIVs using the Gamestop app on Android/iPhone?

Do most of you guys buy used games? I used to avoid them like the plague because I'd always get scratched to hell discs and it annoyed me to no end when I used to keep a collection. Moving forward I've been pretty much on a play it and be done with it run so curious as to how you guys roll.

 
I just finished off my third free lunch burrito in as many days (with queso diablo today!).  I also have had free breakfast burritos for two of the last three days.  My stomach is still intact.

I shall provide updates over the weekend on how everything is holding up.

Glad they brought this to the Android version finally. Thanks for the heads up.

EDIT: Trade values still suck. I'm sure this will help for flips though.

You said "there are reports" in regards to the coupon, not that you actually got it yourself, which is why I posted confirmation after trying it.

Which coupon are you saying has 11/30/14?

I know you've said you can check TIV via phone, but I can't find a way to do that on Android.

That thread fucking sucks lately. Whether you have idiots talking about idiot things, or one dude basically trying to accuse everyone in there of being scammers so he can sell more than everyone else, it's easily moving to the back of my must check list.

But at this point, I know you're looking for stuff to rent, but if you are interested in sharing anything just come to me, matt or even pancakes first before even bothering with the stupidity over there.
