I read the first 3 GoT books but didn't like how unfocused they were; I hated over half the characters and the ones I did like didn't get enough screen time. There's so many characters, though. The TV show was apparently pretty faithful at first but the last couple of seasons they've been adding extra violence, particularly against women. So there's just random rape scenes thrown in for the fun of it and things of that nature even though they don't fit the characterization of the people involved. Since they're going to have to diverge from the books, I imagine they'll be taking such liberties much more in the future. That's not exactly appealing.

I'd go with BE and then just wait and see on GoT. It's not like you miss out on anything by letting the series run its course then jumping in at the end. At the worst you'll find out that the end of the show is terrible and it's better to not start it at all.

I know right? Thanks Vig.
I'm not even joking, I was literally shaking with rage when 30 rock just nonchalantly dropped a huge season 1 spoiler during one of its episodes. It reminds of when that douchebag Craig Kilborn spoiled the end of Saving Private Ryan when it had been out in theaters for less than a week during one of his segments when he used to be the lead anchor on the Daily Show.

Akumu update:

Ch. 1: Done on first try. Not as hard as I heard it might be.

Ch. 2: Had a mini-heart attack when I burned the two bodies near the gate crank thinking the coast was clear and two other guys appeared out of nowhere. Used a beartrap to snag one and burn him with a match, and killed the other one using a tripwire that I left armed. Decided not to visit the house further up the hill after killing the two guys outside and seeing two more burst out through the front door.

Ch. 3: Disarmed a bomb trap. Looked through the binoculars and made it back downstairs to save before stopping for the night. I'm scared.

This definitely feels like the ideal mode for The Evil Within, as I'm more scared now than I've ever been.

Hey nerds, what's the best company to buy a decent PC from?  Yes, I know building a PC will be cheaper but I don't give a shit.  I just need it for basic Internet use (ie: porn) and maybe strong enough to play mid-tier PC games (mostly indies though).

I was actually impressed by the number of people who showed up for the 9 pm release at Best Buy. Decent line for preorders still when I got there at 9:15, and a lot of people waiting around to buy the game who didn't preorder (and I was thinking, WTF idiots, you're missing out on $10 for nothing).

Wonder how the lines will be when they have a midnight opening for both Assassin's Creed games + Master Chief collection.

Surprised my daughter is enjoying watching Power Rangers so much. Frustrated that she is watching the episodes out of order. Respect contuinity!
:cue angry nerd seething in silence:
I know we're all a buncha fucking nerds on one level or another in here, but power rangers is absolutely fucking horrible and I don't understand how anyone could defend it.

Even as a kid I knew it was some of the dumbest shit I had ever seen and if my kid thought it was cool it would deeply depress me.

Why is it when a Vita games shares the exact same, but seperate list with a PS3 game, the geniuses at PS3T.org can't copy and paste that shit over to Vita instead of leaving that shit blank?

C'mon son! (© thecro)

Picked up Fall of Cybertron and Spider-Man: Edge of Time from the Best Buy clearance. Couldn't say no. But has anyone played/have opinions on X-Men: Destiny? I'll probably get it anyways, I just dont ever remember anyone talking about it, good or bad. (which is probably bad lol)

Vig, you catch what I was warning you about through the binoculars? and how bout those traps ;)
To be honest, I knew what I was going to see as I had heard about later-chapter enemies showing up that early, but that didn't make it any less tense.

The traps, though...I was able to disarm the first one on my first try (I'm not sure if I should disarm the second one, blow it up with a bottle, or leave it armed for pursuing enemies), but I still saved the game before trying.

What time? I'm in if you guys are doing it later.
Probably sometime later this evening or tonight. We done the whole thing on hard with 4 randoms, but they were really sucking hard on the Atheon part and we got tired of it. I'm not even sure if Stotch wants to finish it (I would assume so), but I do.

X-Men: Destiny was not as bad as I expected after all the reviews. It was by no means great, but it was worth playing. With that said, I am sure you have a very long list of games that are better that you have not gotten to :)

Actually, do we have any 30s? From what I'm reading, an all 29 group makes it really hard.

So due to some AMD upgrades, it looks like XB1 could pretty easily switch to a slim model very soon:

http://www.dailytech.com/Xbox+One+Slim+Approaches+Thanks+to+Cheaper+Cooler+20+nm+APU+From+AMD/article36813.htm

This should also allow a permanent $50 price drop to $349, says the article. That might be enough to let it start regaining ground on the PS4...though a lack of enticing exclusives means it still isn't a comparatively attractive system, price does matter if you're mostly playing multi-plats anyway.  :whistle2:k

We have one, Derek. Unless we're sending a 30 through the portal each time, I think it's going to be crazy hard. I mean matt could put up a post on the matchmaking site to try and get a couple more 30s.

I ordered one of those red 2DSs from Walmart for $79.xx+tax, in-store pickup. Not bad at all, but I'm scared of what it's going to be like to pick it up. Is it going to be a nightmare trying to get somebody that knows what they're doing?

It's not for me - for our youngest's birthday. I wouldn't mind one, though. I'm not allergic to Nintendo handhelds.

Wow, in UK? They must have sold a copy of SO for every single XB1 in the country for it to hit #2.
