Ok, Day 1 Scores.  There's two ways to score this.  Either by Division, or all together.

Score By Division:

By divisions is probably more fair.  

All together can create some more randomness though, which can be fun.  For example, say tomorrow MildObstruction puts up a great score that tops some of the pros scores.  He will get extra points to help him catch up quicker.  Keep in mind, even if we score everyone all together, we'll still separate the top 5 novices and top 5 experts in the end.  Going this method, a novice could potentially beat a pro, which makes sense when you look at the shitty ass scores me Crunch and Uglypete posted yesterday.

Anyways, Crunch and I are both leaning towards divisions because it's more fair (and doesn't completely eliminate jkam already).  Does anyone have any input they want to provide?

Heads up if you are going to play the Halo 2 CE avoid activating the terminals. For whatever reason, when you go to activate a terminal the Halo Channel app opens. Once the app opens, it can cause the console to freeze, and/or will wipe your progress on the level. This happened to me three times, before I said fuck it and turned the game off.

Also, it seems the achievements are not unlocking in Halo CE and Halo 2 CE.

Is it too late for me to join this Spelunky thang? I literally know nothing about getting high scores or strategy. Just hoping for a munky style fail to come out of it.

Edit: Woo man that was bad. Probably should have played a normal game real quick to remind myself of the controls.

tales of hearts r is really scratching some itch I didn't know I had. I'm just beating up monsters in the first area over and over and it lets you level up so quick. sooo strangely satisfying. something is wrong with me I think.

Don't buy the Sonic Adventure games. They've aged horribly. Both Sonic 4s are good, and so is Generations. Those are the ones I'd recommend.

All the 2d ones are good of course, with Sonic CD being the standout in my opinion. Don't know how old your son is/how good at games he is, but if you're buying them for him he may he put off by the difficulty, so keep that in mind.

I did fine but I'm not happy.

And I think the pros should have a gentleman's agreement not to look at the leaderboard until they've done their run. Not saying anyone here is doing that. But knowing what your competition posted does give you an advantage.

It's fine with me if you join. You'll just take a 0 for day 1 (and possibly day 2 after seeing your score).

In preparing for tonight's Daily Challenge, I did a standard run that turned out pretty well, all things considered--roughly $32,000, I picked up the shotgun in 1-2 (the shopkeeper ran off after an accidentally-triggered boulder trap plowed through his shop), and I unlocked the Jungle shortcut. The Queen Bee ended up killing me in 2-1.

Hopefully I can have similar/better success with the Daily Challenge itself.

I found this to be funny.  Maybe it helps that I was in a party chat with Matt when he actually did it so I heard him half narrate it.  But it wsa great to see him in action!

Wait, so it is possible to watch others do their run even if you haven't done yours yet? If so, avoiding that should definitely be part of the gentlemen's terms.

Also, I'm completely addicted to watching these daily challenge replays. Knowing that impending death is looming in level x-x provides a great anticipatory thrill. Who else can I add to my friends list for Spelunky fun times? :D
