Looks like Bloodborne will be traded for $33 after GCU, then put towards Witcher 3...with my gift card and the $10 I'll get for preordering, the game almost pays for itself after my trade in. Love GCU!

Actually Bloodborne is paying for it, and thus you are by extension.

I've never understood the "trade credit = free money" line of thinking

Because I bought Dying Light on sale for $35.99 with a $50 BB gift card I received for Christmas. Then traded it in after beating for $33 towards Bloodborne, along with my gift card remainder, at its $47.99 GCU price...so, it was pretty much free money. Not on my relative's end, but mine, yes.

My grandma gave me $100,000 and I bought a Porsche, so I got a free Porsche!  My friend's grandma gave him a $100,000 too, but he just saved the money so he didn't get anything for free.

Edited to correct the missing zero on my friend's $100,000. :)

Technically, yes you did get a Porsche free. There is no such thing as $100,00 though - so your friend on the other hand may be drunk or lied to you (or both) but either ways - he got you man.

Nothing personal, but I get irritated, too, when people refer to things as "free" when they are really not.

Free = without charge. For example, "buy XB1, get free controller." On the receipt, it may say controller cost 39.99, then there will be a discount or override or whatever of -39.99, effectively making the price of the controller = $0. You were charged nothing for the controller. Ergo, FREE.

You buy a controller with reward points, gift card, money you found off a dead body, etc. Your receipt says controller costs 39.99, plus tax. You were charged 39.99 plus tax. Sure, you didn't spend your own money, but it was NOT FREE. You still paid for it somehow. The store received 39.99 plus tax. Yes, you didn't spend any of your own money. But the item was not free.

You not spending your own money, and an item being free, are two distinct things.

There is no such thing as $100,00 though - so your friend on the other hand may be drunk or lied to you (or both) but either ways - he got you man.
In other parts of the world, the comma is used in place of the decimal point. His friend may have been European. ;)

Me reading these comments about people nit-picking the definition of free vs. "free" wastes my time, which isn't free. :)

hey man at least it's not those dumbasses that argue forever about PS+ games.

I just know someone who, whenever he gets a gift card, immediately blows it on the dumbest shit imaginable, because in his eyes it's like some sort of goddamn phantom-money or something, which must be used now or it will disappear into the ether. Instead of just saving it for games he would buy anyway in the future.

That was the only reason I brought it up. I have a personal vendetta against that type of stuff. It killed my parents. Now I'm going to kill it. Coming soon to a theatre near you.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the embargo for The Witcher 3 reviews are up the week before release. So we should be getting some reviews as early as next week. The game went gold a month ago, so there shouldn't be any issues with people getting review copies.

is the witcher 3 pre-order still bundle with the steel book? there was ramblings a few page back about it being limited to only early pre-orders.

i'm hoping it still is, but i kinda want to play the game on release day and im pretty sure in-store pickup will have issues providing/holding steel case for pre-order/pickups.

have everyone been getting release date delivery the past few games (i.e. MKX, BB, etc)

It seems like the steelbook is OOS

I'm sure when BB ships, they will cram two into one bubble envelope.

Kind of off topic, but has anyone else had trouble refreshing this site for some reason? It's the only site that does it for me, but sometimes I gotta hit F5 twice for it to actually reload.

i've never seen steelbook being display next to the witcher 3 pre-order product detail page other than the unbox forum thread confirmation.

General rule for you maybe...
But sure what you mean but.....

I wasn't speaking from a fanboy stand point, I was speaker from a technical stand point, usually multi phats run better in some way on ps4,

And heck this is coming from a longtime Xbox fanboy lol,you can blindly love something all you want but there is no denying fact

Had to email Best Buy CS to get my $10 Reward Cert for preordering GTA V on PC. They replied exceptionally quickly, which makes me think they KNEW I was owed the cert and were withholding intentionally. They never intended to just give it to me unless I made a stink about it.

There's a conspiracy here, I'm sure of it.

what if we place an in store preorder? Would there be a chance at getting one?

I remember getting something on launch day without a preorder, and got a steel book because that was all they were shipped.

It would have been great if the poll had included the "None or Not pre-ordering anymore" option just to see what the percentage of people who are fed up with pre-orders after Watch Dog, Assassin's Creed Unity, Battlefield 4, The Sims, Planetside 2, Halo: Master Chief Collection, Driveclub, and others.

To this day I still don't understand this whole anti preorder movement. It's not like you can't just cancel and get your money back. People act like if you pre order then you are stuck but that's not the case.

I want SW:BF and B:AK , but the deluxe for $60 looks worth the $10

Do you recommend getting the $10 more for all DLC, or wait?

Also is it better to preorder right now or will the offer likely change?

I ask because I'm Elite /GCU and I would usually, but out of credit and don't want to pay full preorder

Any ideas GCU guys?

Thx

Deluxe isn't all dlc, it just includes some worthless garbage. Like for battlefield hardline you just got 3 special battlepacks, one of which was a preorder bonus at bb and another was the preorder bonus at gs. I'm sure it'll be the same for battlefront, just oriented more for that vs bf, so I wouldn't waste the extra money on it.

Yea I agree, normally the Deluxe doesn't add much value. So unless you want the little DLC, maybe guns or such, just stick to the original. About the offers changing, it's possible they'll announce a Collectors edition or a special preorder item. In some cases, like Witcher 3, if you preorder too early, you won't be getting the preorder bonus. People that preordered before the Steelbook offer most likely won't be getting it. Though other games had preorder bonuses that everyone got, even if they ordered before they were announced.

Personally, I just put in my preorder for Arkham Knight and will probably wait until October to preorder Battlefront. I normally wait until about a month or two before to preorder. Keep in mind, in my own experience, the sooner you preorder, the quicker you receive the bonus Cert. Lately titles that I've preordered around the one month mark, I received my Cert, the same week the game releases.

The deluxe is not worth it for battlefront. Sure I haven't played it yet, but I can tell you, Hans Blaster isn't worth $10 as a digital item that will quickly be tossed aside for a better gun you unlock as you progress though level 10.

If not I'll put that down

Not sure what you mean? Batman comes out June 23rd, so it's only a month and half away. I also have the Batman PS4 System preordered on Amazon. Just not sure if I'll get it. Seems to still be available, so I don't think it'll be that rare. Might just give it to my son for his B-day.

If people are stupid enough to show support to developers by preordering from developers that have proven time and time again that they release broken and buggy games that don't work for months after release, then they deserve exactly the crap situations they support.

We very rarely preorder anything..we have a huge backlog, and there isn't anything we NEED to have on launch day.

The only game we've preorder ed this year at all is witcher 3, because there have been so many glowing reviews of it already, and the developer has already said all its dlc will be free. I'll support a company that treats it's customers right.

The Witcher 3 DLC thing is a little deceptive. They are providing 16 minor pieces of DLC free, but there will be two expansions that they have been working on during the regular development period that will require a purchase. Also, they are giving two exclusive physical items (cards and maps) with the Xbox One CE only. Personally, I don't think they are any better or worse than any other developer/publisher.

I wouldnt entirely agree. Cdpr has been pretty good to its consumers on the first two games. Charging for 30 hours of game play is not the same as horse armor.
