When you go for those do you try to get the bronze and stop there, or do you always go for the highest rank? I was able to get a Gold award for one, just short of the Platinum, but it took me so many replays that I doubt I'd ever push myself that hard again for the lumes.

I dont want to sound like a Sony Fanboy but MS has been really trying hard to piss off its customers. I never got an Xbone because of the BS they tried pulling around launch. Sony has way better sales and has never tried to just steal my account balance. Sony keeps gaining favor and MS keeps losing it. Which is funny because last generation i definitely liked MS better than Sony. Ms has been just fumbling non stop this generation though.

Ever since the new CEO took over MS has been great.

The support level from MS may not be the best but if you can believe it its leaps and bounds better than having to deal with Sony

So because they change it from their obtuse 'points' over to the regular dollar amount it should have been in the first place, somehow that makes it now invalid and gives them the right to just friggin steal it?

Get real. Theres no logical reason why it should be expiring at all, other than just screwing over customers. If you put money inn your bank account then they decide to call them 'loopy dollars' instead of dollars. It should be totally ok for them to just take it all as long as they give you a warning then, right? Its fucking bullshit and defending it in any form is just absurd.

So just got off chat with MS and was told that my expiring balance would be restored after I contact them about it after tomorrow. It was a pretty straight forward process, I barely even said anything.. just mentioned that a friend had the same issue and was told his credit would be restored.

My guess is that MS received a lot of calls/chats/complaints about the issue, so they are going to credit the lost balance back.

Though if you are set to lose any money, I would still get on chat to have them tell you that themselves and give you a case/service/reference number to cover your bases.

I buy something just about every week (hi, backlog!) so I simply cannot comprehend how so many people still have points. Points haven't been a thing in so long now, makes me wonder what was the last thing you Point-holders bought digitally was. Dragonborn DLC? Ballad of Gay Tony?

I haven't bought anything in so long from MS that i didn't even know they did away with points.

When the MS Store had $15 point cards for $5 a year or two ago, I bought about $1,700 worth of points and have been whittling those down since. Like you, I had been buying something almost every week, but at some point I acquired almost everything I wanted (my 360 content takes up 850 GB). I'm down to about $150 now and not much left to buy for a while (not sure I want a One). I just chatted with MS support and they confirmed that my balance will not expire and gave me a case number. Seems to square with what others are being told, so I'm not worried.

But yeah, I guess in that case I wouldn't want to lose all of those points or credits.

It does make sense for the promotional credits not to expire since you can use them on the Xbox One. That's future digital preorders or DLCs that could be purchased, and not anger these 1%-ers of the Xbox points world.

Best Buy Reward Zone credit expiring sucks, but I get that it's the store offering you a 'coupon' to come in and purchase things. The Xbox credit was currency you actually purchased, that they modified and then put a timer on. That's very poorly thought out on their part, and just seems lame and not consumer friendly, even with the long timeline to use it by.

I know California has laws against it but there are plenty of states where gift cards expire. You can get mad about it all you want but the more productive move would be checking in with your state legislators on why ANY company could do that in your state. In this instance, Microsoft is telling people their money will be restored. Not sure why we are still talking about it.

So after the news came out that converted points in your account would expire on a set date, but non-redeemed cards would still be good until they were redeemed, at which point they'd be set as promo credit with an expiration, you continued redeeming point cards? Rather than only redeeming them if you were short in your account and were actually going to spend them on something immediately?

 
So I know in the past the GWG has gone free the night prior to the 1st. Think that'll happen even on a Sunday? I'm actually looking forward to checking out Massive Chalice.
 
Shit, if I had a bunch of cash to blow during an XBL currency sale of 66% off, I'd probably do it. Not sure if I'd do that much, but $1700 in points would be enough to cover a console for a few years for me, probably even the whole generation. It only comes down to having digital at that massive discount versus physical. It'd certainly be viable now with everything coming out digital at launch.

Buy the few games a year at launch that you feel are worth full price, grab everything else on sale, padded by GWG.

Yep, they've been a lot better recently. I remember a while ago when I bought Fallout New Vegas on sale, and later when I went to download it after making some room on my hard drive, it didn't show up on my purchase history. I chatted with support about it, she told me to re-buy the game while it was still on sale (it was the last day) and the money would get refunded into my account. Re-bought it, and within a couple minutes the money was returned to my account.

I know a lot of places do, but they also explicitly state that the points have no cash value, thus they don't count as "currency". Therefore, they are within their right to have the cards be expired, especially given how long we've known about the cards becoming obsolete.

Thanks for the heads up. I've probably spent more money changing my GT over the years than anything else on XBL. Nice to be able to change it for free for once.

Just need to figure what I want to change it to.

 
Anyone try Beach Buggy Racing on :xb1: ?  I like kart racers and its tempting for $8.  I can't find much on the interwebs as far as impressions. 

 
I have twice contacted support about the expiring balance. Neither time was I offered to have that money refunded after June 1. In fact, when I mentioned that others have told me about this I was told "we do not offer that promotion", "they were provided the wrong information", and "all local currency that will expire is nonrefundable". So I guess I will be spending my  balance even though I can't find anything I want, and I suggest others do not take the risk.
