GOG Deals Thread

Guess it's time to get Legend of Kryandia 1-3. Been wanting them for a while.

Edit: Make that 2-3 likely got the first in an insomnia sale.

Kyrandia series is already showing 75% off - are you saying you think it will go cheaper?
No, I just don't buy them as soon as they go on sale. Also, I'm a bit busy at the moment. I'll take a break in an hour or two and do a little more GoG shopping. For $1.50 each, I'm willing to bite on Kyrandia. There aren't a lot of holes in my point-and-click collection, but that is one of them.

Has anyone played Indiana Jones and Emperor's Tomb? It looks alright but the discount isn't too high. It looks neat enough though. I hope some Star Wars flight sim games go on sale.

Gabriel Knight 1-3 was the standout of the last batch for me and my first purchase of the sale. Grimrock 2 is a great price, but I'm hoping to get it with Steambucks.

Picked up Gabriel Knight 2 (FMV FTW) and Story About My Uncle. I had Ys Felghana on my wishlist and ended up going in on the bundle because it wasn't that much more. Now Im only $2 away from the STALKER freebie, so not a bad sale in my book.

Is the Y's series worth it? I haven't played any of it yet, but I have played other series like Lunar and Shining.

Ys is closer to Zelda than it is to Lunar / Shining. It's action RPG. 1+2 use bump combat (you run into enemies to hurt them), Origin and Felghana are Zelda-like. Very worth it if you're an action RPG fan but the games can get very grindy.

I don't know based on Shining and Lunar. I have heard a lot of great things from people with similar tastes to mine and I really love SNES era rpgs. My understanding, though, is that this would be more like Secret of Mana or Secret of Evermore in terms of gameplay

Thanks. I mentioned Lunar and Shining more for age/time frame purposes. Secret of Mana is my all-time favorite, so I'll give Y's a try!

I played it back in the day...I'm an Indy fan and thought it was pretty good, I vaguely remember some platforming that was kinda annoying though. I've added it to my GOG wishlist to remind me to buy it on Steam ;) 33% off...shaaaaa..riiight...

Yz... I have those on steam, great games, amazing soundtrack
Great...I just got em for PSP...that bundle on GOG is very tempting. Still trying to learn playing Ys VI with keyboard only to kick it old-school style.

I love all the remixes that they did; go to iTunes and look for the Falcom Sound Team...some pretty cool stuff up there.

Is Trails in the Sky on GOG too? That one is also by Falcon/Xseed (same people as Ys) but more closer to Lunar.
Trails is on GOG...and not on sale...yet.

Bought... And now I own a copy of Xenonauts, whatever that is.
Nice, I keep getting free stuff that I already own (like SimCity 2000 and Stalker: Clear Sky).

EDIT - Just realized they are the same games for everyone (SimCity 2000 for spending $1, Stalker: Clear Sky for spending $20, and Xenonauts for spending $50).

GOG sales are good but newer games not getting a huge discount such as Steam sales. 33% off for both Indiana Jones and Tomb and Outlaws.....I'll get them eventually. Also I hope Steam is taking notes from this sale and Humble sales. Offer lots of games as daily deals. The Daily deal number is just way too low for the amount of stuff on Steam now.

Trails is now on sale for $10 (50% off)

I'd have to disagree, many games are often far more heavily discounted on Gog than on Steam shortly after launch.

For instance, Volgarr The Viking was a fiver on Gog long before it ever got so low on Steam/Humble Bundle.

However, the truly deep discounts that Steam offers after a year or so after launch are not hastily matched by Gog, or even matched at all.

I think this is the 2nd or 3rd time Sudeki has been 75% off on GOG, but hasn't been discounted more than 50% off on Steam

Bad sales equal bigger discounts.

Though Steam obviously has the biggest buffer in this regard. Gog can't afford to discount most games deeply/deeper than.

You know what really grinds my gears?  GOG with their stoopid bundle shenanigans.  For ex, Bundle Quest.  Cool I need some of the KQ games yet, so here's what I see when I add it in my cart:

This is like those Gamestop used games sales where you get 5 games for $20 where you get 5 games sandwiched together in shrink and you can't see the inner 3 games but the outer 2 look pretty good, so you buy it and, shocker, you get 3 shit-bombs in the middle.

Let me just buy individual games I want at the same discount, GOG, ffs!!!

All quest games are the same amirite

I also agree with that. Keep the classics with the classics and the moderns with the moderns. I was going to buy that bundle too but don't want quest for infamy. I bought the Lucasarts one the other day and just accepted taking on Monkey Island 1/2 Remastered though I didn't want them as much.

Eh I guess they're having trouble selling the modern titles.

The bundle discount vs almost no discount thing is indeed pretty lame. It also doesn't help that their standard retail prices are way too high for most old games. I'm also getting the funny feeling that some of their retail prices used to be lower a few years ago.

I don't think that comparison really works. The Monkey Island remasters have an option to switch instantly between the remastered version and the original at any time. So even if you don't care for the remastered version, it essentially comes with the original version.

I don't have to worry about today's bundles. I already have all of the King's Quest and Space Quest games. Of course, I don't just have them on GoG. I have the collectors edition from the mid-90s, and original copies of 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8. Still looking for an in-box copy of 1. 5 as well, but that one is actually pretty common, and I know I have it on CD-Rom somewhere.

I jumped on a few games yesterday, and already hit the top tier on the free games. Today it looks like I'll be easing back.

Yeah I tried un-checking Quest for Infamy but it made the rest of the games cost more than the entire bundle, never been a fan of the different discounts for entire bundle vs. single games.

You can't split GOG bundles. Not easily, anyway.
I think you can easily split them, actually. You buy the bundle as a gift code, redeem what you want, and then give the next person the code and they take whats left.

It used to be harder to split, but you can choose which games you want to redeem now.

It reminds me of those porn mag bundles in gas stations years ago.

GoG is doing some math magic; 75% off of $14.99 = $3.79.

Pretty good sale for me so far.  I would like to get those Harry Potter games but it seems like they are rather buggy.

SimCity 2000 Special Edition = YT5902F4F9AAA1

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky = HTA59641B3B532

These codes will expire on July 21, at 1:59 PM GMT.

Thanks. Got this.

Bleh @ expiration being set on the account-activation keys, if they ain't used.

I can understand for them doing this, when they just did free giveaways period.

But when they give free games away to those who bought something else - this is silly.
